Now time for episode 4 of Star Wars is Dead...

That cliffhanger, tho…

Holy s**t, that out of focus shot of the “sith“ in the background descending and hovering into frame and over the ground like some sort of deathly apparition was super creepy as f**k and probably the scariest a dark side user has ever been in live action Star Wars.:wow::wow:

What a total borefest.
Man, what are you even doing on here?

You hardly ever post on here anymore, and when you do, it’s only post to complain and express your bias against and disdain about all Disney/Marvel/Star Wars properties you still clearly hate without adding anything new to the discussion or elaborating on why.

Listen, I’ve had my share fair gripes with some of the more recent Star Wars projects, but when I talk about them, I detail why. You just give simple talking points and then dip with absolutely no interest in the topic and in engaging with the discussion at hand. If something or a certain property just isn’t grabbing me anymore, I’m not going to talk about it, because I’m just not going to have anything new or interesting to say.

If this show, hell, any Disney property, hasn’t and still isn’t doing anything at all for you, maybe spend your time and energy elsewhere on something that’s more worthy of your attention. Your opinion on this stuff obviously hasn’t changed and isn’t going to change anytime soon.

Anyway, back to the discussion at hand.

Last week's was better, but this was better than the first two. The Sith that is definitely not Jacinto has a great presence to him in his brief appearance and I love the mask. Jecki's scenes were good, I liked her and Osha together. But it's a bit insubstantial. Felt very much like the result of a movie stretched to a TV show, which I don't think this was - making it more of a shame imo.

As for the episode, it was okay... I thought it was funny how they were able to show they shot some parts of the episode on location... only to show a super obvious jungle set.

And it's also obvious as to who's killing the Jedis. (unless they pull something out of their ass the last minute/episode)

What an awesome intro to the Big Bad.....

...that would have been, if we hadn't already gotten that lame speech from them in the first ep. :o

This show has a "the flashbacks are more interesting than the present day" problem, which is a pretty big problem, imo. Also, Mae's 180º felt a bit forced.

On the plus side, the Big Bad looks cool and I liked the location this week a lot.

That episode sucked save for the last minute or so. The dialogue is really bad, and none of the modern day plot is of any interest. The mysteries are just not engaging enough to be justifying 8 episodes, and there's been so much walking and talking about nothing.

That said, the final minute was really cool. I really wish they had cut out the final scene of the first episode, as this would've been a pitch perfect first scene for the villain. It was creepy and he has presence, which is not something I've felt from a Star Wars villain in awhile. To have him be introduced giving that horrific monologue was a stupid decision. I look forward to next week's episode though.

It's weird watching this show. I'm one of those that loves the PT, while acknowledging so many issues. But something about this show feels lesser. I don't think it's just the look or budget. With the PT, there is mountains of bad dialogue, but it all had purpose. And on occasion you got solid gold in terms of memes thanks to delivery.

Here though, I feel like it lacks any energy whatsoever. Outside of Squid Games, no one in the present seems to care. Just reciting lines without any gusto.

It lacks personality and it doesn't have the nostalgia factor to keep you fans invested.

I wonder how long they had to write and shoot this show. There is a real, "wrote this in a weekend" quality to it. And the way they rush though a lot of the dialogue heavy scenes, feel like they had a tight filming schedule. Very basic, in terms of blocking and such.

The dialogue thing is funny in comparison because I feel they suffer a lot of the same issues in terms of how the dialogue is written, but their purpose is totally different. It's such a clear distinction of being forced to write dialogue because the story demands it in the PT vs. here it's like they're forced to write dialogue because the runtime demands it.

They don't know how else to fill time or convey drama over an extended period of time so it's just resorting to just explaining everything to you like a child. There's no subtlety at all.

Very good point and it does feel a lot like most of the other SW and Marvel shows in that regard. A movie idea, stretched out.

Yeah, they definitely fumbled it big time with this episode because the ending was easily the best part. Tonally it felt completely different from the rest of the episode, and I wish they would have learned into more.

They actually did a pretty good job building up tension and atmosphere with that villain reveal even though it didn't save the overall episode IMO, but at least I'm looking forward to next week's episode.

Also, the length of these episodes is getting ridiculous.

Took a while to get started, but we finally here!

Can't wait for next week and for the Sith Lord to show the Jedi whose the real boss.

I'm still invested. I understand it isn't great, but I am too invested in the High Republic to not really judge this fairly. I actually am enjoying Jecki and Osha, and would have liked to see a bit more of their time on Coruscant becoming friends.

I do find it interesting we have gone through the majority of the trailer footage so far. I think the only other major bit of footage is the jedi chasing Mae's ship. So, kind of curious how this plays out.

Did not see Mae abandoning the Sith path this early.

The final minute is great, and is likely to color the opinion of the episode overall. And god, I love the Sith design. And him floating down unfocused in the background was amazing, I loved it. Look forward to all the red shirt (gold cloak?) Jedi dying next week.

And really, anyone really watching this show will understand how the Jedi did not realize the Sith were at work.

I enjoyed the episode. The only thing that didn’t work for me was Mae abandoning her mission and seemingly turning “good” out of the blue. I thought maybe she was just faking that to throw Darth Bortles off because she doesn’t trust him, but I guess not.

Oh, one other thing. Yord said something to Osha about having known her since they were kids and how Mae has always been what’s held her back. Umm… was that a continuity error, because back in the first episode, he said he had no idea she had a twin. But now he’s talking about it like he knew the whole time. Maybe it’s just because he knows now and he put the pieces together that Mae was part of why Osha wasn’t good with the force, but it didn’t sound that way.

Lastly, I loved the Sith reveal. I didn’t think the final scene in episode 1 undercut this scene at all since we couldn’t really see them clearly. Anyway, Brianna on Screencrush pointed out the similarities between the Sith reveal and a scene in the original Alien, as well as the Sith mask design, which seems to be xenomorph inspired.

Everyone seems to think that the Sith Lord is Bortles, and this episode certainly made it look that way. Whoever it is isn’t a very tall person because they aren’t much taller than Osha, as we saw in this scene. They also don’t appear to have a very big frame. So it could be him. I think Bortles might be a red herring though. I’m leaning towards a female character being revealed as the Sith, so either Bald Green Jedi or Trinity-Wan are my suspects (I’m not convinced that the latter is dead).

Seeing a younger Ki-Adi Mundi made me wonder if there'll be an obligatory Yoda cameo before the season is over.
