Not to mention a pricey film like Alita: Battle Angel also coming out- these films will eat each other alive. One would think that with Aquaman's date moving elsewhere that this would be reflected in the States as well, unless that's just coming later. Otherwise, for all of these movies, it's going to be a very crowded weekend.

Can't wait. If the Aquaman trailer is outstanding... I'm sure it's going to be the other studios that may move first to give themselves a breather. But hey--moving it up (if the movies are ready by then) is a win for most of us.

It's not really hard to believe considering it's a extremely well known Disney property and it serves as a sequel to the original film. It's going to make bank.

Yeah, I mean... it's wise not to underestimate Disney, but I'm not sure I see Poppins being much of a killer.

It's not the same audience as these superhero/sci-fi genre films, obviously, and I don't see much reason why they wouldn't be able to co-exist at the box office. The audience for Bumblebee and Aquaman probably overlap more. Bumblebee is a transformer prequel, essentially? It would surprise me if that ends up doing well.

Having said that, Mary Poppins could make a lot of money as a family movie over the holidays. It's a Disney classic. If they can update it in a way that people like, it could be a big hit for them.

It shouldn't be a problem for Aquaman, though, at least not if there are a couple of weeks in between.

Kids will choose Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and Bumblebee.

Female demographic will prefer Alita: Battle Angel and Mary Poppins Returns.

The holidays are a high demand period, so there will be other releases. Releasing the movie in a relatively low demand period might lead to less competition, but not necessarily more business. If the movie can't sell itself, it can flop anywhere.

But the opposite is also true. If it can deliver on the quality, it could stand out at a time when people are looking to go to the theater. It's not like Avatar is coming out a week after, something that could just crush other releases, regardless of quality.

I wouldn't be shocked if Aquaman gets a Wednesday release on the 19th December along with early OS release. They might do the Wednesday 12th December but that's probably unlikely.

The only film that has done huge business opening in the first weekend of December was the first Narnia film which did $65m OW and almost $300m domestic so it can be a successful date.

Its trailer views are not that impressive. It should do well in Europe.

I don't get the sense that there is a lot of hype for it in the US by any stretch, but it could end up striking a chord with people, it really depends on what they have come up with.

As holiday seasons go, this one is pretty light, and not a bad opportunity. At a certain point, it comes down to whether or not people like the movie. There's nothing overwhelming there, just a list of things that will vie for the audience's attention. Something will probably break out, but it's hard to say what it will be just looking at the list.

If anything. This may allow for some modest Aquaman projection initially and give the film the opportunity to blow the industry away if it becomes popular on release in turn making the strategy very successful.

It would also just reinforce to other studios how WB can't be messed with even if it is looking a bit injured at the moment.

Of course that's just one possible scenario out of an infinite amount.
