The All New and Improved Batman Reboot Casting Thread

Andrea always struck me as one of those classy brunette dames you see in old movies. Emma Watson might be a good fit for the part.

But she can't act!

Just based off of looks, I think of another Emma.

But whoever plays here should have that va-va-vavoom quality, and I don't think Watson has it.

I know people were pushing her to play Catwoman, but maybe this is the role for Ana De Armas?

I miss the age-based outrage of the Amy Adams/Henry Cavill days. So...

Reeves should cast Keri Russell as Andrea Beaumont.

Julianne Moore, Keri Russell, Naomi Watts. I can see them as Essen with Wright’s Gordon.

There’s like a 1 percent chance that Andrea would show up in this universe.

I KNEW somebody was going to say that. Bruce Cheney layin the smackdown.

This is a casting thread, isn’t it? Not a “Pretend we know what Matt Reeves is going to do and behave accordingly” thread?

Hmm. Stone's not a bad suggestion at all. Apart from the looks, she has a certain timeless quality about her. That said, Reeves isn't exactly a purist when it comes to casting and the like; hence all of the characteristics we generally associate with the character could very well go by the wayside. And that leaves the door wide open for a variety of different types, Watson included.

If Andrea is a main lead, then yeah Emma Stone. I went with Haley Bennett, a lesser known actress but would gladly see Stone join a Batman film.

For Leslie Thompkins, it’s Patricia Clarkson for me:

And Sarah Essen, I Tonya’s Julianne Nicholson:

I wouldnt mind a Vicki Vale as a recurring new reporter. But I dont want her back as a love interest. Keep that with Selina for now.

This is what I had in mind. She doesn’t need to be a major character. She could possibly become a target for one of the villains or simply be a brash reporter. I just want to see as many Batman characters as possibles.

Who else would be a fun Easter egg?

in the same vein as Vicki I'd like to see Jack Ryder or hear him on a radio like how arkham asylum did.

And Rupert Thorne would be cool to see briefly.

Julie Madison is a love interest name that filmmakers can do whatever with. Jezebel Jet, Vesper Fairchild, or Silver St. Cloud sound a little hokey to me.

I like the idea to hear/see Vicki Vale as part of radio/news broadcasts like the Arkham games. Frank Miller likes to lean on newscasts for plot exposition; I don’t mind when films mimic that. I think it helps the world building.

It’d be interesting to see Katana. Not a love interest, just a new female character for Batman mythos. I’ve been watching Beware the Batman on HBOMax and some of the ideas are actually pretty cool. A lot of fresh interpretations but still true to the character.

Silver St. Cloud is a silly name but this is a franchise that had a love interest named Chase Meridian. That name is up there with Cade Yeager and Stacker Pentacost as one of the stupidest names ever used in cinema. It sounds like a ****ing bank. I guess Mellon T.D. Citi wasn't available.

I still can't believe they decided to create a new character for those movies and THAT is the name they came up with.

Well yeah, but I'm not looking for Reeves to start looking at Forever as inspiration. Chase Meridian, like Silver St. Cloud or the others I mentioned, just sounds like a Bond women rip-off.

For me, in terms of love interests, Batman only has one true love and that's Selina Kyle. I supposeeeee you could go with Talia al Ghul, but I've always been more in favor of Selina.

Flesh out the universe with strong female characters though: Vicki Vale, Sarah Essen, Leslie Thompkins, Renee Montoya, Katana, Sophia Gigante, etc.

What about some of the other villains we haven't seen in a longer time, or never before?
