The All New State Your Opinion on a DC Character Thread

One of my favorite Batman stories, it had some moments that really explored some of the deeper questions about the character and his place in the world.

What kind of hero would you want to turn into if Dial H for Hero was real 'Nubsy

The ability to alter reality. Then I wouldn't be a hero, I'd be an Amoral God with a a multi-gendered harem of bionic love slaves. :o

As far as the Calculator...I love what they did with him. Proof positive that there are no bad characters, just unimaginative writers.

EMERALD TWILIGHT

I liked it! I can fully understand someone having a completely bad day. Killing all your all friends, taking their rings, killing the dude who's been pissing you off for years, killing your blue bosses and becoming a cape wearing bad guy.All it takes is one extremely bad day for someone to snap. it made sense to me. plus i dug that readers were so pissed. my boy at my shop said readers took out a full page newspaper ad and the dude who wrote it was getting death threats! People! People! get a grip! heroes never stay dead or as crazy bad guys!:cwink:

Hal's expression makes it look like he's terrified of his hands :ninja:

I liked the idea of Emerald Twilight, I thought the execution was shoddy. It should have been a longer story that gave the breakdown of the GLC the weight that story deserves and really showed Hal's slow descent into desperation to justify his going rogue.

I still liked the end result well enough, but it could have been much better.

Controversy incarnate. Some genuinely poignant moments but Hal's descent into madness really should have been longer.

Dark Knight Returns: Just ****ing awesome! Don't get me wrong, if this story was canon I'd absolutely loathe it but it aint so it's all good! Can't wait for the movie.

The Calculator: yeah, I liked what they were doing with the calculator, making him like a kind of "Oracle for villains". That' a cool idea.

Emerald Twilight: A terrible, non-sensical idea that never should have happened. Having said that, it's actually quite well written.

Livewire gets a hard meh from me. She's just one of those 'yeah, whatever' villains.

I view it the other way. I think it's an awesome idea, that if it has any failings its in the execution.

That's cool but, personally, I think what they did to Hal was absolutely disgraceful. It was the worst crime 90's comic books committed (and there's quite a lot to choose from.)
The story itself though, is well put together. It has mistakes, yeah, like the way Hal goes insane in like, 2 panels, but for the most part Ron Marz made the most of a terrible idea and delivered a pretty epic would-be conclusion to the Corps.
