BvS The All Things Positive Thread - A place to talk about what you LIKE from BvS so far.

The teaser from Comic-Con made both heroes shine. Hopefully it's a taste of things to come.

- The prospect of seeing Batman and Superman together on the big screen for the first time ever
- Batman's costume
- Subtle alterations to the Superman costume
- In Affleck, a Bruce Wayne who actually looks like Bruce Wayne
- MoS original cast members returning
- A seemingly faithful re-imagining of the Wayne murders featuring The Mask of Zorro
- Chris Terrio's involvement
- Larry Fong's involvement
- The promising footage shown at SDCC 2014
- The look of Gotham and Metropolis (what we've seen so far in set pics)

I loved seeing that they going to have a bit a practical flying in the movie. Hopefully there's a lot more. Supes looked great in that behind the scenes shot we got recently.

Good list  For me, I simplified it to this: BvS = MoS with an Oscar-winning writer + Batman.

I might be overstating this, but Terrio could make or break this film.

There's more riding on him than people may think.

- Henry Cavill back as Superman, Kal El and as Clark Kent (glasses and all)
- Ben Affleck as Batman and Bruce Wayne (anyone else just as excited to see him as Bruce as they are Batman or just me?)
- Amy Adams back as Lois Lane
- Batman's batsuit looks on early look like the best a Batsuit yet
- the fact the film is a sequel to Man of Steel and the true start to the DCU
- The teaser giving me the hope that Superman isn't gonna be pushed into the background in order to push Batman into the forefront

My vibe as well. I'd say the biggest issue by far with TDKR and MoS was the writing, particularly with dialogue and significant plot points. Terrio is obviously going to be more sophisticated and eloquent than Goyer, and he's had experience with a script where there were many relevant characters that needed to be balanced with Argo.

I think the lure of Superman and Batman on screen together for the first time and a vaguely competent marketing plan will get people into the theater. It'll be down to Terrio's writing and cast performances to sell the DCCU to them once they're there though.

But BvS isn't the sequel to MoS - it's just the next movie in the DCCU. We'll eventually get a MoS2, but they wanted to first progress the entire universe, not just Superman's story.

- FINALLY getting Wonder Woman on the big screen
- Seeing all three of my favorite heroes together
- Affleck. He has the potential to be my favorite Batman yet. Plus I kind of like the guy in general.
- Return of the MoS cast
- WB learning from their mistakes by replacing Goyer with Terrio. This film could end up having one of the best overall scripts of any CBM. He's definitely going to surpass Goyer in the dialogue department.
- Snyder directing with a good script and maybe with Affleck's input
- Best looking cinematic bat-suit we've ever gotten.
- Wonder Woman's costume is really growing on me

Technically it is a sequel of sorts, my point is its the next story in Man of Steels world,". I know its not just Superman, tbh I find your response pretty pointless.

Yup, BvS is the sequel to MOS. The story follows right after it. The next Superman solo movie won't be a sequel to MOS. It will probably start its own story and bridge off whatever recent events.

 plus didn't Snyder himself call it a sequel?

It's more than a sequel but I think calling it a sequel is decently accurate if that's what one wants to do. I prefer the word "follow-up" myself because I think that word covers everything. But sometimes I use the "sequel" word.

The film is following up on the events of Man of Steel so no one can deny the massive sequel elements.

Not pointless at all really. I just dont get it when people (not coming down on you specifically) say BvS is a MoS sequel when its technically not. You are right though that its the next movie in that universe, but its not a MoS sequel. Even when they announced the slate of DC films, they said theyd be working in a MoS sequel and a Batman stand-alone before 2020. I just recall many posters and other sites getting upset that Superman had to "share his sequel" with Batman...

Yeah, though it may seem like nitpicking, the choice of phrasing actually can paint quite a different picture here.

In chronological sense, it is a sequel, as it continues from MOS, but it's not next Superman movie from the slate.

Yes it is pointless, what have you gained from it? Me calling it a sequel isn't going to change anyone's notion of what the film is about,

Technically it is a sequel, it's the next chapter in the universe set up in Man of Steel, continuing from the themes set in Man of Steel. Therefore I'm calling it a sequel.

I'm an uber MOS fan so I could say everything, but specifically I'm most interested in seeing the continuation of the story from MOS (Zack himself said it would be just that, making it a proper sequel :woot:) And the expansion of the universe. The costumes are my favorite of any CBM, the actors are fantastic. The writing, from what others have said of Terrio, should be top notch, and Snyder and Fong together on a Superman and Batman film is like a dream come true.

Oh, and Zimmer. That's enough for now ;)

Exactly he did say that, seems it will be more of a direct sequel to it than the future MOS 2 could be.

Dictionary.com defines sequel as "a literary work, movie, etc., that is complete in itself but continues the narrative of a preceding work.". This definition means BvS is a sequel to MOS.

What people mean that BVS is not a sequel to MOS 2 is that its not a Superman movie.
Not like Civil war which is a Captain america movie festuring other heros

I'm looking forward to seeing Cavill as reporter Clark Kent.

I'll take you comments - I do agree that BvS could be seen as a sequel to MoS since it will involve some direct themes and plot effect from MoS. Also since this is a "Positive" thread, I'll drop my semantics argument :woot:
