Yeah but spidey is 1962 and I think batman is like 1939 and I think superman is like 1939 to or something.

We are mainly talking about the States for disappointing returns as overseas the numbers are decent. America has been losing interest in Spider-Man for years.
I think Sony realised this a long time ago hence the early overseas releases.

I think in Europe and Asia we like seeing Spidey over and over again but Stateside I think people are tired of the character and I don't see that trend changing any time soon.

I think this movie makes 700m WW and when all is said and done things could be a lot worse. 700m is decent number but compared with what Spidey used to do that is disappointing. I don't see how Sony proceed as rebooting is out of the question as is shelving the character for a few years. The best short term solution I can think of is throwing money at an A list director, writer and cinematograher.

I, my fiancé, her family, my family and basically everyone I know loved the movie. We all live in the UK btw where the movie has done pretty well.

Why it is true why else when movies come out do the rating do down? When captian America 2 came out it was like a 95-94 and after the usa reviews it was down to 89. I think xmen went form a 94 to 91. ASM2 I think went form like 75-53.

I think different parts of the world may have different tastes or trends which I find interesting. I don't think it has anything to do with 'higher standards'.

Well, considering that TASM2 will make 20 millions more than TASM's overseas gross and that China alone added 32 millions so far I don't know how you can come to the conclusion that Europe and Asia generally like seeing Spider-Man over and over again while the movie is declining from its predecessor on most markets. If it wasn't for China TASM2 would be showing a decline overseas too.

TASM2 gross will be roughly 4% ahead of TASM on foreign markets. International Box Office was up 11,6% in the past 2 years and is expected to display an even bigger growth this year (compared to 2012).

I didn't know about that 11.6 in just the last 2 years that is a lot in a short time makes the number look even worse when sm 1-3 didn't have 3d and with inflation and with how much international market has went up that is interesting to hear.

Oh I don't know sony wanted a billion and if spider man movies make less and less at some point they are not going to beable to afford to make them any more. The movies bugedt was 255 compared to say spider man 3 I think 280 so 25 less but they probley spent like 50 more on marketing then spider man 3 so that is like 25 million more over all and yet the movie is probly going to make about 170-180 million less then spider man 3.

Exactly. It's doing decent. With a lower budget n better story for the sequal, spidey will make an impressive comeback. He is still very popular. More popular than thor n cap I dare to say. Among the 3, most people will say spidey movie has better chance making into billion.

Yeah what he said the movie is going to make probly around 40-45 million less then the first one and cost more to make then the first one and it is the like 4th spider man movie to make less in the usa.

Well, it'll break even. Not a huge win, but it's not like people are burning pictures of marc webb in the streets and chanting "kill webb, kill avi".

They're probably down in the dumps a bit though, but not complete apocalypse yet. (Could come in 2016 up against a film with the same name)

Its not though asm1 made about 752 million and it looks like asm2 is going to be like 710-730 million.

Tell you what, if TASM3 is opening up and being hailed the best movie ever, then WOM will be great and with a smart opening weekend, we could see Spidey be a hit in the US again.
