TDW is one of the lower MCU tier movies but still better than TASM2. Only thing TASM2 has over TDW is Peter and Gwen dynamic.

The Dark World is much better imo. The only thing TASM2 did better was the chemistry between Peter and Gwen, which is probably the best chemistry a couple has had in any comic book movie.

TASM2 also had more villain development but it didn't help make the villains good so I can't see that as a plus. The villains were a big factor in that the movie had no idea what kind of tone it should have.

Wait, the nightmare that was the Harry Goblin and the complete joke of Electro were better than Malekith and Loki? I'll give you the costume but that's about the only accurate thing I see here.

I think he meant Malekith and Kurse, Loki wasnt really a villain in TDW. He didnt really do anything evil. We still dont know what happened to Odin. Loki may have had nothing to do with it.

TDW easily.
-It was better received
-The acting,action,music,costumes,visuals were better imo
-It actually made a profit
-It was fun
-People don't compare it to Batman and Robin
-It didn't kill the franchise

Neither were good movies… but TASM2 was slightly less cringe-inducing for me.

Oh good night! TDW had issues for sure, but it was lightyears better than TASM2 which was a complete shamble of a script thrown together, slapped up with a nicebow and forced down the public's throat.

TASM2 is worse than Spider-man 3 IMO.

While I think both movies were around the same in quality, Thor 2 being more profitable doesn't make difference in my eyes. All of the individual movies coming after Avengers were going to make a lot of money.

Yeah I was not referring on that only as a merit of the movie, more like a demerit on ASM2's part. I mean,a Spider-Man movie that doesn't make profit? It's laughable in my eyes.

Even so Malekith and Kurse were light years better than Harry Goblin/Electro. Electro's entire motivation was Batman-Forever Jim Carrey laughable, and the Goblin made no sense at all.
Say what you want about Thor 2, it's the first MCU film I walked out of feeling disappointed, but it's head and shoulders above ASM 2.

I didn't find TDW disappointing. I found it lacking a bit but overall not too bad.

I'm still defending Carrey's Riddler against this comparison.
Carrey's Riddler was a jerk since the get go, he did not turn evil just because the one person to treat him like a human being is the center of cheers and cameras during his dilemma.

Fair enough, no argument there. Marvel are much more sensible with their money than Sony.

I actually prefer ASM 2 slightly myself, it had some good and powerful moments, though I think neither movie is particularly good. Both sets of villains were poor as well, the TDW ones had better characterisation ( meaning no characterisation is better than dumb characterisation). The ASM ones at least came across as a threat to the hero, only Kurse achieved that in TDW.

Jamon what's your score for both movies? Just curious.

For me TDW is a 7.5 movie,I know it has flaws but everytime I watch it I can't help but be entertained and enjoy the whole thing,so it goes up to a 8-8.5 just based on my enjoyment.

ASM2 gets a 6. There are a handful of thing to really like about it but there are also MANY bad spots that really bring the movie down,it's like two completely different movies, one good, one bad, mixed into a mediocre, messy movie.

They both get a 7 from me, though I am generous with my scores for CBMs, both have just as many flaws as good points, I just give ASM 2 a slight edge because it had some very powerful moments and better action.

For me, it's TDW by a large margin. I really like it. Never got the complaints some have with it. It's a blast to watch and the humor really works for me. Is Malekith a great villain? Nope. But he's not terrible, either and Loki more than compensates for it. To top it off, it has one of the best endings of the whole MCU. I'd give it around 9 and 8.5. For worst MCU movie, I'd go with either IM2 or TIH, but which I'd give around 7.5 and 7.

TASM2 is far behind, which is a shame, since Spidey is my favorite character. I wanted to love it badly, but I just can't. I still don't find it as bad as many make it seem, but it's barely decent. It has some great moments, but also terrible ones. Andrew's a great Spider-Man (though his Peter Parker is much more of a mixed bag) and Emma is the perfect Gwen Stacy, but oh God, what were they thinking with Electro? Cringeworthy, really. And they manage to screw up Dane Dehaan's Green Goblin, who was perfectly casted. I really enjoyed the first TASM and was massive disappointed by this one. I'd give it a 6, since it has some great moments. But boy, Sony really dropped the ball with this one. :/

Ooh, tough one. I only saw TDW once and thought it was fun; I've seen TASM2 several times, but it's a general failure. Even if Thor means next to diddly to me, I'd have to give the edge to TDW. Simply a better told story.

Man I feel like I could have written this! Spidey's my favourite fictional character since I was 4. D*mn you,Sony.

Ha! Thanks. I know the feels. Watching the first Raimi Spider-Man at the movies was pure magic. And yeah, Sony needs to get their **** together. Well, let's wait and see. I still hope for a deal with Marvel Studios.

I was 10 when SM1 came out and I still remember all the emotions and feels I had while watching it. Pure magic indeed.

TDW without question, I wasn't confused coming out of it.

TDW is better than ASM2 any day. ASM 2 had moments that made me feel like I was watching a schumacher batman film, incredibly cheesy and corny. TDW wasn't a bad film, it wasn't a very good film but it wasn't bad.

The first two Raimi Spider-Man movies are still superb and both are still high on my lists. Shame things have gone downhill since then.

Spider-Man 2 is still on my top 5 superhero movies. I find it nearly flawless and it aged really well. The first Spider-Man looks a tad dated by today's standards, but I still love it, nonetheless. Both have so many iconic moments that the TASM series seem unable to replicate (and I still think the first TASM is a very good movie). The train action sequence and it's culmination, the upside down kiss, Peter discovering his powers... TASM 2 had Gwen's death, which could possibly even top these moments, but I bet it will be forgotten in a couple years. Well, let's see what the future holds to us Spidey fans.

I actually enjoy both these flicks despite their flaws and thought both were fun flicks, but Thor 2 gets the edge here. ASM 2 gets a bit too jumbled with what it wants to focus on.
