The two movies are interesting to compare and contrast because they deal with similar themes, but in different ways and tones. Which movie worked for you more? Did one enterain you more than the other? Do you see one as a better superhero movie, or even a better movie in general? Discuss.

BTW, if all you're going to do is say "You cant compare the two", all i'm going to say is this: it's nice you feel that way, now burst the bubble you've been living in....

how many times is this thread going to be made

The Dark Knight

but I don't hate Spider-Man 2 in any way.

yeah i cant compare the 2, they both redifined the genre and are both equal in different ways

if i had to pick the best movie it would be dark knight but spider-man 2 is still the best comic book movie imo

I voted for Dark Knight. I don't hate Spidey 2, it's just the more serious tone of Dark Knight I personally feel gives it the advantage here.

Its a very hard choice as both are not only great movies but great adaptations also. But TDK takes it for me, even though I am a bigger fan of Spidey the character.

I love Spider-Man 2. But The Dark Knight is for me the greatest comic book movie ever made.

Looks like it's gonna be a biased battle of Batman fans (looks at the person who started the thread) trying to once again prove that TDK is the greatest comic book film ever. We don't need anymore proof. TDK shouldn't even be in here. Because it will always win, and because it no matter how good the other film is, it will be looked down upon.

Who looked down on Spider-man 2?

I always thought Bats was cool, but I was never a Bat-comic reader. I was, and am a huge Spidey fan. I do think that Spider-man 2 is the apex of Marvel movies so far. It's the best. I formerly thought it was as good as a comic book movie could get....but even I have to acknowledge that Dark Knight somehow found a level above it that I didn't know was possible.

The Dark Knight. I LOVE Spider-Man 2 and think it's the third best comic book film of all time, but The Dark Knight is THE best comic book film ever made, and to me the best movie period.

Hahahahahhaha....I'll forgive you because you're a newb, but a little word of advice: Actually read a thread before you judge it, kid. I made no statement for or against either movie....and I havent even voted on the poll.

It's ok...maybe you'll find treasure next time....:cwink:

Tough call, but I'm going to say that, to me. Spider-Man 2 is the better overall comic book movie. Mainly because it felt more superheroic than TDK. Not that TDK didn't have some of those elements, but still, at times Spidey was doing more things a superhero would do.

When it comes down to which is better as an overall movie. Then The Dark Knight takes that.

I actually did read it. But I just assumed since with your name and all you'd be starting a bias thread. But sorry if I took it the wrong way. I just think it's unfair with comparing both films. Especially when they're both great in their own right.

I also think now matter which one people vote for either TDK or SM2, they'll all say their strong points. Because both are great films. They're different and great in there own way.

The Dark Knight by 2 points. Also with Iron Man inbetween the two.

The Dark Knight steamrolls Spider-Man 2.

I wouldn't call this a fair fight, either. Spider-Man 2 should be matched up against Iron Man, X-Men 2, and maybe Superman Returns.

It's a matter of opinion. This depends on whether or not you're a bigger fan of Spider-Man or of Batman.

Stepping out of that paradox, "The Dark Knight" is far and above the superior film. That's not to say that "Spider-Man 2" is something to sneeze at.

I do not like Batman but the Dark Knight was the better movie.

What a load of BS that is. The Dark Knight ends with voice over explaining the plot and the meaning of the film. A great film doesn't need that.

Too many plot points in The Dark Knight make no sense. Why is there a chance that all the criminals will be released if Harvey Dent has or will commit a crime? How can Batman kidnap a guy from hong Kong, in full view of the police, and there not be a mistrial? How did Gordon fake his death?

The characters don't develop in The Dark Knight, they change. Harvey dent shows no charater growth then his girlfriend is killed, and suddenly he is a bad guy. In Spider-Man 2 the character go through arcs. Peter decision to give up as Spider-Man grows from the very first scene to the point that he throws his coustume in the bin. His decision to become Spider-Man is again a combination of factors rather than just one. Similarly, Harry descent into madness it's a combination of factors, and he grows over the course of the film.

In Spider-Man 2 there is no scene where a supporting character explictably has greater knowledge than the lead character. "Hi, i'm Alfred the butler, I once chased a ruby thief into a forrest, then we burnt it down." Wait, what? That just comes out of no where. Why was Alfred ever in such a position? Why is he a butler now if he was doing stuff like that in the past?

In the Dark Knight and in batman begins for that matter, there is no relationship growth. Can anyone tell me why Bruce is so trusting of fox? In BB he practically gives away his secret ID minutes after meeting him. Rachel's death is supposed to be a massive emotional moment for two of the leads. They're both in love her, but we don't know why. In BB we don't see any scenes between Bruce and rachel that leads us to believe that they're in love, they just are. It's the same with Dent and rachel, they have like two scenes together, and her death is what sends him over the age.

Bat fans, don't take this the wrong way. TDK is an amazing film, but I need to let out feelings I have.

Ever since TDK came out, all I've been seeing sometimes is TDK in forums. For example, the Spidey, forum, what the hell was up with the TDK threads in there when the film came out? Is that what people really want to do. Go all over forums and talk on and on and on about TDk when it is a completely different forum?

You know, sometimes, I think some people think TDK is the "be all" film. It's not, plain and simple. It's a film that just happens to be a great one, but without a doubt overrated. In my school, people are wearing joker shirts, I saw people wearing make up for halloween in my school, etc.

I come on this board and there is still threads of comparing the film to other films. WHy do people do it?

Another thing, I heard somebody got mad over the Web of Shadows Spider-Man game storyline because it was dark like TDk. That's just idiotic and it's been making my brain explode. Sad thing is, it won't stop. Also, don't go saying that I'm just upset that Spidey isn't #1 at box office in terms of superhero's anymore, becuase i'm not mad. Sure, I would have liked him to stay #1, but that's not why I'm a bit bothered.

Now, even though I said to Bat fans to not take tihs the wrong way, I'm sure i'll get flamed for it. Hasn't everybody? Oh well, just don't be mad Bat fans. I respect you guys 100%.
