I don't think franchise fatigue has anything to do with it. James Bond has over 23 films and people seem to love the franchise a lot after 50 years of movies. If TASM1 didn't re-tell the origin and TASM2 wasn't a failure of a movie, I think people would genuinely care for this franchise and continue loving it.

Now I do agree that people would love Spidey even more if he was part of the MCU and not a loner. But I don't think this has anything to do with franchise fatigue. The two TASM movies, especially TASM2, were not very good movies for most audiences.

One really really good movie, like "X-Men: Days of Future Past", makes you forget "The Amazing Spider-Man 2", if this is the case you think it's a bad movie. That's why I wanna see a Sinister Six film, because if it is great, everyone will be happy (except haters and fanboys).

Hold on one second though. Days of Future Past is not only a really good movie, but it also brought back the original cast that audiences fell in love with and crossed it over with the prequel cast from First Class. Then it literally used time travel to go back and erase all of the bad movies and continue on forward with the series.

The same thing cannot be done with the TASM series. Sony decided to do a full reboot and scrap the original franchise. Even if Sinister Six is a good film, it will carry all of the baggage of the first two TASM films. It cannot bring back the cast that people love from the first movies and "undo" what sony has done. Perhaps they could come up with a spider-verse storyline for the movies and try to bring back Tobey and such, but that would never happen. Sony wouldn't be clever enough to make it work anyway.

I think we might be getting a spin-off called "Aunt Anna" and another one titled "Nathan Lubensky: Retirement Adventures." We'll get to see how Nathan befriends Adrian Toomes and they battle with a game of kick the can!

Not making a deal with Marvel is commercial suicide for Sony. And First Class received a lot of positive buzz so I think most people were pretty open to Days of Future Past. I never cared too much for Bryan Singer's X-Men, but his return was part of why people had hope that the movie would be good.

Why? I can accept you think "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" is a bad movie. I loved it. But the first one was pretty solid.

I remind you that 20th Century Fox produced "X-Men: The Last Stand" and "X-Men Origins: Wolverine". Marvel Studios, "Iron Man 2", "Iron Man 3" and "Thor: The Dark World". And Warner Bros. Pictures, "Green Lantern" and "Man of Steel". All of them were widely criticized, and I won't say they (or think) are not capable.

Emotional and heartbreaking? Seeing Gwen dies, Peter mourn for like 5 minutes, Harry for some reason plotting against Peter even though Peter is soulless and hasn't done anything since Gwen's death and quit being Spidey, had Rhino attack something, Peter come back as Spidey, and end film.

I think Sony can turn themselves around, but all the same, I'd prefer they stop making Spider-Man movies.

Fox doesn't have the same financial crisis that Sony does. They never rebooted and they were able to get back the original director and original cast back together for an "EPIC EVENT." Sony is on the brink of financial collapse and has a poor selection of producers to put together their Spider-Man films. They rebooted unnecessarily and are stuck with a franchise that received poor reception from the start. You can't compare that to Fox's X-Men.

I think Sony is capable of making another good Spider-Man film. First they have to make Arad a silent producer with no creative power what-so-ever, hire another decent director who is more comfortable with the action adventure genre, get some decent screenwriters on board and give that director a reasonable amount of creative control. Micro managing hasn't worked so it's insane to keep doing that.

When "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" was released, the company had only just two good films (neither of them, great). A comparision is fair.
