After X-Men Last Stand and X-Men Origins people were slating Fox saying how crap they are and should be selling the rights back to Marvel but what they did they made a good movie in First Class and a Brillant movie in Days of Future Past if The Sinister is great and The Amazing Spider-Man 3 is as well people would stop slating Sony

That's IF they can produce a great S6 and TASM3.

What Fox did with X-Men is nothing short of miraculous to be honest. I gave up after TLS and XWO. FC, TW and DOFP, I think Fox has redeemed itself.

That doesn't mean Sony can copy that success. And it's not an auspicious start with pushing their flagship title back 2 additional years.

I mean if TASM2 was so "perfect" what's the excuse of at least that?

I think TLS is better than TASM2 too, even if it is only because of good performances from the likes of Patrick Stewart, Hugh Jackman, Kelsey Grammar, and Ian McKellen. I also liked the Cure plot (aside from the terrible decision to have Rogue voluntarily take it). It was the Phoenix plot that was butchered.

Since bringing back Singer and giving him control turned the X-Men franchise around, I guess the obvious answer is for Sony to do the same with Raimi.

C'mon, guys. You can't hate this franchise that much.

Oh you want to bet, Otto? :cwink: :otto:

HATE would be a strong word. Strongly dislike would be more accurate.

Not really. The difference is that in IM2 it is the major problem that is a drag on the film, but in TASM2 it is only one of many problems. The biggest problem that absolutely kills TASM2 is the horrid villains straight out of a 60s cartoon and that would still be the case even if it was self-contained. There are many other issues (such as the parents plot) that hurt TASM2 as well, but that's the one that really kills it dead.

I just compare the two because in Iron Man 2 they thought Hey let's add Black Widow in there because she's in The Avengers oh and give Nick Fury a couple scenes talking about The Avengers to Tony Stark. And in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 they thought lets put Rhino in there cause he is a member of The Sinister Six in the next movie

I don't hate this franchise.

I've repeatedly have said that TASM and TASM2 doesn't necessarily deserve all the hate dumped upon it. But I also don't agree with the other side of spectrum here, that this movie deserves the love as well. It's in the middle.

Totally agreed.

The fun thing is,I think that X3 is a better movie than ASM2. You know why? X2 was so freaking amazing(pun intended) that a third movie was almost guaranteed to be disappointing at some level, even if Singer was on board IMO.Kinda like what happened with SM3. With ASM being only average at best I was expecting ASM2 to blow it out of the water but it just...blew. THIS is the truly sad thing.

There is stuff I loved in TASM2 that I just LOVED. I loved Stone/Gwen and her relationship with Peter (although the off again, on again of their relationship grated on me, it wasn't a deal breaker). I love Sally Field in general. I liked Garfield's Parker & Spider-man and I liked his relationship with Harry and for the most part I liked Harry.

I then hate with descending order pretty much everything else and there is probably little point getting into all of that because that's been covered by many, many people here already and it would bring nothing new to the table.

Nothing has changed in this thread, I see. :hehe:

I believed there are two kind of people who hate this franchise. The ones who want Spider-Man in MCU at any cost; and the one who couldn't forget Tobey Maguire and Sam Raimi. The people who don't care about those two things, if they don't like it, they don't hate it.

Once news is verified, one way or the other regarding Spidey in the MCU, THAT will be a very, very crazy board.

No matter what in that scenario, there will be applause and happiness on one side and also wailing and gnashing of teeth on the other.

I loved Emma, the costume and a couple of scenes. That's it. As good as DeHaan was,Harry's subplot was laughably rushed.

Ok. I do agree with it being a problem for both.

You'd be surprised. I'll never understand the amount of hate it gets around here.
I know, same here. They have to AT LEAST admit how great the crying scene with Peter at the end was, and how great the Spider-Man antics were throughout the entire film. AT LEAST

There is also the type who just wanted a good Spider-man movie and didn't care WHO did it, but after the #Sonyhacks, they now want a MCU Spidey because reading the ideas Sony had up to that point are unacceptable to them.

Count me as one of them!

yes, i can't see anyone blatantly hating this film other than the reasons that you stated above. People who didn't like the movie can at least acknowledge the good things about it.

And there are some who simply like TASM2 with no hidden agenda and want to see a third. I like most of the MCU films too, so I'm not attacking one thing to prop up another. The Rotten Tomato score is low, but that doesn't impact my own enjoyment. I like many films that are highly regarded too. I don't need others to like something for me to enjoy something. It's not easy being a TASM2 fan, but it's what I am. Being backed up against the wall goes with the territory.

There are people who hate The Avengers and people who hate The Dark Knight. Why is it impossible for people to hate ASM2?

Agreed. The worst is when they try to convince you that your opinion is wrong. It's like... nothing you say is going to make me like the movie any less.
