I think they should introduce Connors right from the get-go. He can be a scientist who also teaches chemistry at Midtown. (I always liked the idea of him being a teacher as well as a scientist). They can even introduce his family at some point. And then, come third or fourth movie, if marvel feels comfortable with bringing in the lizard, his struggle will hit us hard.

Casting, I'd choose a Ryan Gosling, and I know that sounds really weird but hear me out: in the film Half-Nelson he played one of the most charismatic teacher portrayals I've ever seen on film, and since my ideal Connors is a teacher-scientist, he fits the bill!

Greg Kinnear is my pick for Connors/Lizard.

I would suggest Guy Pearce, but since we're casting as if Spidey will be in the MCU, Pearce has already played a character in Aldrich Killian.

For the first few movies, I'd prefer they stick to villains they haven't already used (Mysterio, Kraven, Vulture, Shocker, etc.) or villains we haven't seen in a long time, especially Ock.

Shocker in a role similar to Scarecrow in The Dark Knight Trilogy would be great.

Vulture would be great, imagine the aerial fight scenes between him and Spidey.

Mysterio is long overdue, so many possibilities!

Kraven is a must, especially if you wanna adapt Kraven's Last Hunt.

Ock needs a reinvention, no more "good guy goes bad due to accident" anymore. I want the "I'm a genius and that makes me superior (:cwink:) to you in every way." side of Ock we've gotten in the 616/Ultimate comics, or the nebbish Doc Ock from The Spectacular Spider-Man cartoon.

I just want some straight up despicable villains this time around.

A big yes on Ock's characterization. In fact, with the exception of Kraven, none of the villains listed have any redeeming qualities whatsoever. Mysterio's a vainglorious *****ebag, Vulture's a bitter old man, and Shocker's a greedy son of a gun. Kraven at least has a sense of honor.

Speaking of Kraven, what does his name mean? I guess it's a play on Kravinoff, but it also sounds like 'craven', meaning 'coward'. That's weird, because Kraven, a man who has taken down wild animals with his bare hands and has a strict code of honor, is certainly no coward. So, I'm curious, is the reason for him taking that name ever explained?

I want a Doctor Octopus that is pretty much a criminal mastermind.

None of this mopey nonsense.

I think ock or mysterio should be the villain in the first one.

Ock wasn't a mope in SM2. Any sympathy or empathy he had went out the window once he started threatening May and MJ. Sandman's another story. It almost felt like Spidey was picking on him.

I don't believe so.

Either way, great character (who I feel was inspired by Zaroff, a great character from a great story, "The Most Dangerous Game").

"Remember Ben Parker? The old man you shot down in cold blood?!"
"...What does it matter to you, anyway?!"
"EVERYTHING!" and cue kick to Sandman, making him lose cash for his sick plot-device that doesn't have a pay-off.

If they wanted to have the sick daughter/estranged wife storyline, they should have, oh I dunno, included them in more than one scene. It's a novel concept, Sony, but I think it's catching on. That said, Thomas Haden Church did so much with so very little. He really was the lone gem of that movie.

Completely agree, there.

At that point I was getting sick of sympathetic villains (felt like Sony was trying to give us another Doc Ock), but he still did an alright job despite his character being the environmental menace of the film and nothing more.

Then again, I remember someone saying that the Green Goblin was just Lex Luthor going insane and acting like the Joker.

Well, then.

Can't say I agree..at all with that someone's statement, but to each their own.

The only thing left of me now.....is my daughter. That breaks my heart, every time. It makes me even angrier that he was wasted.

The Spider-Man franchise as a whole (both Raimi and Webb) had so many great things and yet so many bad things.

If we could just combine the good of both series', we'd have perfect Spider-Man movies.

Shame things got wasted due to idiotic reasoning.

With Marvel, we could just have great things and slightly-less-than-great things. Especially with Goddard (please God, make this happen) writing and directing.

Does Sony even have the resources to reboot the franchise a second time? That's gotta be hard on their bottom line.

If they adapted KLH like the leaked e-mails suggested, the budget wouldn't have to be as big (at least I don't think). However with how TASM2 turned out financially, them making another Spider-Man movie of any kind would be a challenge that they may not be able to overcome.

Think about it: With the whole Interview debacle, that was a waste of a good bit of money.

Would they be willing to take a big risk again?
