They have their moments with some of their smaller films, but when it comes to their major franchises...

**** no.

I don't get this. Social Network and District 9 are brilliant movies which Sony allowed the film makers to get on with it. Why change the policy that yields quality movies because you are spending more money?

I get that they're not the coolest studio at the mo. But one can either approach this as "a new movie by Sony" or "a new movie by Drew Goddard". I choose the latter in a heartbeat. Among all the directors currently hired to do comic book stuff, I'd rank him easily in the top five. Yup.

And not for nothing... but if you swapped him as director for any other movie at the moment (say... Suicide Squad), not for a single second would the fans of those properties refrain from counting Goddard as a huge plus. But because he's working for Sony, suddenly he and his potential/talent are worth squat? Bullcrap. Extremely narrow-minded POV.

Anyways, Merry Christmas, guys.

I'm a huge Goddard fan, and I think he fits the spiderman franchise perfectly, mainly because his work with the dark and twisted resonates with spidey's villains gallery. I really want him to stay with the franchise if they deal goes through, the e-mail does nothing to convince me any differently. All he did was say that he wants to make an awesome movie! Whether sony lets him make his awesome movie without putting their corporate fingers in, idk.

And Merry Christmas! :yay:

They have more to lose with bigger films, so they think that they can put their hand in everything and copy other successful blockbusters. They have a greater chance of having a successful blockbuster by being innovative, like DOFP, the Marvel films, Nolan films, etc. but instead, they follow trends and hope no one notices their derivative piece of ****.

Wasn't that email back in June though? I don't think they're still going ahead with S6.

We'll said.

Its not necessarly the studio but the producers, the great movies Sony has released usually have talented people actually interested in the material but there are also a bunch of hacks with horrible ideas *cough* Avi Arad *cough* behind the big projects like Spidey.

Also the quality movies have good producers that don't try to micro manage the projects. Sony need to sack the Spider-Man producers.

It doesn't matter how talented he is, it's difficult to make a good film when you have **** up micro managing producers on your case.

Is Pascal really going to stay on? Isn't she the one fighting to keep Arad? But if she's going to be fired anyway by Sony Japan because of all the other stuff that has emerged from the email hacks, then what is to keep Arad's position secure?

The latest deal rumours sound as if these people are staying put.

If Pascal's out, I don't think anyone's left to keep Arad in his position.

I really don't want to see a press conference with Feige shaking Arad's hand and making the announcement as if now Arad is an equal partner in all of this as they move forward together. I hope we don't see them putting on a united front. I can't imagine that Feige would want that and that they would just proceed as if this were some kind of hung parliament.

There's rumors buzzing around that she's going to get sacked, but as of now she has no plans to resign.

As far as I know, her current contract is only good for another year. If she doesn't get fired she probably just won't be asked to sign back on with the company.
