I haven't really kept up with Agent Venom. I know he's with the GotG. How's that being received?

It's ok. I'm not the biggest fan of the current GotG run in general, but he's a surprisingly good fit for the cosmic level storytelling.

Yes, I like Carnage more. He is a really fun character who's only purpose is madness. Although I haven't read any recent stories with the character, anything since the 90s really. I will always have nostalgia for the Monster-Ock finale in the 2000 Spider-Man videogame. Awesome.

It always pissed me off we never got a Spider-Man 3 with Green Goblin.:cmad:

Say what you will about SM3, but killing Harry Osborn is more notable than anything Venom ever did in the comics. Brock had a more personal and believable reason to hate Parker as well.

I feel Raimi did an incredible job with Venom, I enjoyed him more than his CB-counterpart. Also was great he dropped the third person crap as well.

Conceptually the Venom in SM3 was fine. His storyline was just sort of crammed in and didn't seem to fit with the rest of the movie.

So it's now 2017 and still no summit announcement. That was supposed to happen 2 years ago!

Venom is a more visually appealing villain instead of a villain of substance.

I've said this before. Venom should have included JJJ's son. Leaving him at the alter for Peter, is enough of a motive.

 Such a fun game and an awesome way to conclude it.

I always found the idea of another classic villain (Ock, Green Goblin, Scorpion) acquiring the symbiote on film.

Yeah as soon as I beat the game I instantly started playing it again for the alternate costumes. I have nostalgia with all the Spidey games until Spider-Man 2, where I then just fell out of the loop for a long time.

The symbiotes taking over another villain is definitely a fun idea. Although I don't know if I would like to see Goblin utilize it.

Speaking of this game, I'm still annoyed that a sequel to the second one was never made. There were still plenty of villains to be used in that continuity and Spider-man was still considered a felon at the end.

Yeah, but with the movies on the way and Spider-Man being so successful at the time...Activision saw bigger money in film tie-ins.

True. It felt like a loose adaptation of the 90s animated series. It was bright and colorful and did have this sense of adventure that a lot of other games seem to lack.

I saw it as a sequel to the animated series, it even used the same voice actor from Unlimited.

I think Agent Venom is a far superior symbiote story than venom himself.

Oh definitely, the best Venom stories to date are with Flash.

So if they introduce the symbiote and the black suit, do they have to introduce Venom? They probably will, but do they have to? Could they do the symbiote without introducing Venom? I think they can, but they probably won't.

 Good to hear. Wasn't sure on what to think about the addition, but I imagine it's more relevant to Venom than it is for Flash.

I had seen some solicits for the issues. Liked the change in character design.

I'm not sure that was ever on the cards. Wasn't it always Vulture Raimi wanted to go with?

Yeah I think they do. I mean the whole point of it is that it leads to creating an enemy for Spider-Man. It would be like introducing Harvey Dent into a Batman franchise and never having him become Two Face.

I don't like Venom, but it would be a real tease to do the symbiote and never do Venom.

Imagine the story that could have been with Green Goblin showing up again and everyone thinking it's Norman. Of course you would have to get rid of Harry finding the layer at the end of SM2. Could have been an awesome story to tell there.

Yeah Vulture and Sandman. I don't know if the original script had New Goblin in it, but I know they were going to wrap up Harry's storyline. Ben Kingsley was considered for Vulture in SM3. The original script had Vulture as Sandman's former cellmate who manipulates him into committing crimes.

Lol, I meant the sequels to the Playstation video games guys. We did get Goblin in SM3. :oldrazz:

Thank Avi Arad for that.

I think he was referring the game series, a sequel to Enter: Electro featuring Green Goblin. Hobgoblin would of been nice too, I liked the reference in the first Spidey game.

Yeah, but then people would have Raimi's head for making Venom anyone but Eddie Brock, to be honest.

We got New Goblin not Green Goblin! :argh::oldrazz:

I only played Spider-Man 2 on the Playstation. I would love a Spider-Man game that is much like the Arkham Batman games.

Shattered Dimensions was their attempt at that, and it didn't even come close, IMO. The best Spider-Man game is still the PS1 ones, and Spider-Man 2.

That hack needs to stop interfering with Spider-Man movies. All they had to do was introduce the symbiote costume in SM3 and tease Venom for the sequel. SM4 could have used Venom as the main villain and utilized him well. Oh well... what could have been.

Honestly I don't get why everyone's hating on Venom on here besides the notion that he's "too mainstream". Honestly Venom brings a lot more to the table than fan favorite Mysterio does.

Honestly, think like a writer and tell me- what does Mysterio represent thematically? How does he make Peter Parker grow as a character?

Venom is a man who's life was destroyed by Spider-Man, who wears the costume rejected and discarded by Peter Parker. He represents the demons he's created, the failures of his past, and the irresponsible choices he's made. He's a shadow that looms over Peter Parker and like any other personal baggage, he inhibits Peter from functioning until he is dealt with.

Mysterio on the other hand is a former stunt worker who uses illusions and tricks to commit crimes. Certainly there is something to be said about society due to his motivations coming from his attractive face keeping him from becoming a star himself, but he- as he is written doesn't do much to make Peter grow as a person or mirror him thematically at all.

I'm not saying I want Venom in the next film, but there's a reason the big three are Goblin, Ock, and Venom! So everyone needs to get off their high horse and stop trying to act like Venom isn't a good character.

If Venom is ever used again, how would you guys want him to look?

Same thing whatevs it's an Osborn and a Goblin :ikyn

Most of Spidey's games range from good-mediocre at worst, but the one I hate with a passion is TASM on the Gameboy, and just for difficulty, the Separation Anxiety / Maximum Carnage games.

Any recommendation on where to begin with Agent Venom? I always wanted to get into that character but I'm not sure of which comics to pick up.

I would start with Venom Volume 2. It lasted 42 issues from 2011-2013.
