The other problem is that the franchise is at the point of using the less character-driven villains. Electro, Rhino, Vulture are popular but they aren't as character-driven.

The writers would have to pull a Doc Ock on the them.

Felicia Hardy would probably be the best option for a character-driven Spidey film.

@GuestStar2004: Maybe you're right. That would be an explanation.

Does anyone think that the Russo's brothers directing the next Spider-Man film would be a good thing? :)

I would prefer them producing as it would mean Arad has been sacked. I don't know why he (Arad) hangs around like a bad smell, he's rich, it's not like he needs the money.

You can make any character as complex as that character needs to be.
Sony CHOOSE to make Rhino a one dimensional moron.

I watch X-Men FC and TDK and I get jealous and think why the heck can't Spider-Man be handled with that level of care and sophistication. Look at the motivation or Eric and Charles, look chaotic nature of The Joker. I think Spider-Man 'himself' should be funny but the movie should be serious with characters that are layered with motivations that inform how the characters act.

Yes, the Russo brothers 's deal is interesting only If Arad and Tomalch are not producers...

i think kraven would be the most interesting villain to use because he ain't got incredible super powers, vulture wings or doc ock arms so that opens the door to be really creative with him, although i don't know if he would be a villain for action packed scenes so maybe throw in some spider slayers or even some smaller villains like shocker ect ect

The parents plot line was the biggest issue. I think most the audience just didn't care about it and Sony only included it to differentiate the Webb films from Raimi films.

One thing I think the TASM has going for it if it is going forward is has an almost clean slate. The parents plot is resolved so going forward they could introduce MJ and continue Parker's adventures as a college student.

The Oscorp villains factory thing which they can either ignore or continue.

I think a Kingpin/henchmen dynamic is better. Kingpin because he is the spider (no pun intended) in the web controlling everything and the henchmen who carries out the orders. The complex of the henchmen could be him plotting to overthrow Kingpin.

Can Avi Arad be sacked from producing Spider-Man movies?

I'm not sure if he can. Arad used to be the co-owner of Marvel and his position may be contractually complicated.

Make him executive producer, then.

The thing is Avi Arad loves Spider-Man. Part of the reason he brought Marvel was his love of Spider-Man as a kid.

Arad also loved telling his story about going around Hollywood studios saying that Spider-Man is worth a billion dollars back in the day and being laughed out of studio execs offices.

I don't see Arad walking away from having a serious hand in the future of Spider-Man movies unless he wants to, is forced to or gets a big pay off.

I had a dream yesterday that Sony had cancelled the Sinister Six, but split the Amazing Spider Man 3 into 2 films (Part 1 and Part 2)

Dang if that tiny bit of casting rumor/news managed to rustle our jimmies I can't imagine what will happen if the deal falls through... again. Well, actually I can imagine myself turning all green and smashing some cars.

Who was starring?

Norman Osborn was in the movie, I know that. But for some reason I was casted as the green goblin...yeah I know...weird ass dream.

Now, would Sony actually split the third into two films. At this point, they would do anything. Splitting a film into two parts could fit the Sinister Six in I suppose.

Avi Arad is a *****! he wants to ruin Spider-Man; he wants to crush our dream of him appearing in the MCU!

All he cares about is Venom.

Sony wouldn't have the guts to split TASM3 into 2 films, it would be way out of their comfort zone

LoL...I get what you're really saying...in all seriousness, I think the dude just wants the power & control to selfishly do things his way. If he could go back in time, he would be the one that created Spidey, and not Lee/Ditko, which would a very different Spidey, as proving in TASM2, with Peter spider bite being, not an accident.

Remember the days where there were only supposed to be three TASM films? Additionally, it was heavily implied that Gwen would die in the final film.

Oh, and Electro was considered 'God-like' by Webb and it seemed like he would be the only villain in the sequel.

Ah yes, those were the days where it seemed TASM was going on a simple path before Sony became cocky. :(

Exactly  Venom wasn't in Spider-Man 3 because of the fans, he was in it because AVI ARAD wanted him in it. and he didn't care how it effected the story and the natural flow of things.

The guy wants everything to be his way, and I'm sick of it! once we found out Kevin Feigue wanted him out, we knew the feud was fricking real!

It's before someone said hey Why don't we make our own avengers movie with the sinister 6

Can you blame him? :oldrazz:

The main sadness, for me anyway, is that a Sinister Six film could work had the character's been developed in previous films and if Spider-Man was featured.

Randomly doing a S6 film in hopes of making Avengers money is a pretty dumb decision.

Totally! I remember the days when everyone was saying TASM was suppose to be the Gwen trilogy, and Norman was going to be bulit up over the course of the three films.. ah, I miss those days..

We thought Norman would be the one pulling Electro's strings.

No it was for the fans and that's why avi pushed it because the fans wanted venom and obviously that was gonna drive the next films hype through the roof, just like fans wanted gwens death even if some were disappointed by it, same could be said for a lot of people with spider-man in the MCU

Infact I remember after SM2 came out In 2004 I was in a HMV store and I see a new dvd release for the 90s cartoon on the Newely released shelf which was when they released the cartoons on DVD next to the films release and anyway you would expect it to have been doc ock episodes but it turned out to be the venom saga (with venom on the cover) and I thought that's weird is this like a way of testing the waters for the next film? And surely enough venom was next in SM3
