What?
What what?
What?
I don't think most people will at the end of the day. Before anyone tells me to look on twitter or something else equally as lame again to see fans petitioning that Garfield stays, we saw the same thing back in 2006/7 with Superman fans petitioning to keep Brandon Routh and the whole Superman Returns universe alive.
Look how that turned out. Nobody gives a toss. It will be the same story when the Spider-Man franchise moves on. Hopefully to greener pastures because they can't possibly get any worse with the way it is now.
Disagreed. The only times Peter lacked confidence and became shy was when he was around MJ because of how he felt about her romantically. Apart from that he was never lacking it. And being a dork, Peter Parker is always a dork, before and after Spider-Man. That is part of the character's charm. He's still a nerd. Except he has powers.
Peter's hair never changed before and after Spider-Man:

90's cartoon Peter and Spectacular Spider-Man cartoon Peter did not change their hair either.
Peter still got teased and picked on all the way into college in the comics. By Flash, and even Harry initially.
I do not know what is wrong with jeans, a sweater and shirt for a date, especially to meet someone you're already dating.
Garfield Peter was too cocky and confident before he became Spider-Man. Garfield's Parker was listening to headphones and skateboarding through school halls even when he told not to. Standing up to Flash Thompson when he was bullying another kid.
He only got worse when he got his powers because he showed off more with them. He is the most unlikable Peter Parker ever.
For me, both Parker portrayals were off the mark at one point, so I wouldn't call either one perfect. It makes total sense to have Peter be an awkward nerd pre-bite, just as it makes total sense to have him be a much more confident extrovert once he's Spider-Man. Maguire came through with the former, Garfield with the latter. On the other hand, why would a cool skateboarder who looks like Garfiled be so unpopular in high school? Or a guy who spends his days swinging around, doing cool stuff and saving people be as dorky and square as Maguire?
But since the bulk of the films belong to the post-bite Peter, I'd have to give the edge to ol' Garfield. Even if Maguire's first 2 films were miles better.
Also, he came across more as a skateboarder dude then a nerd.Joker it's a bit frustrating that you continuLly keep this belief that nobody cares about Garfield leaving when it's been shown time and time again that a fair chunk of the fanbase actually DO like Garfield.
Your post disregarded sections of fans on YouTube, Twitter, Facebook, tumblr, reddit and change.org. You've basically labelled the opinions of everyone not on SHH as not important because Superman had petitions in 2007 or something.
Just because something happened once doesn't mean it'll happen again. We can only go with what is actually a part of reality which I detailed pretty clearly a few pages back.
The Joker said:I don't think most people will at the end of the day. Garfield's Peter WAS too cocky. He quickly went from loser to popular kid in the blink of an eye. And you'd think after how he humiliated Flash, people would consider him a jerk. But no, a kid who humiliates people is a cool kid I guess. Also, he came across more as a skateboarder dude then a nerd.
I really don't understand this complaint..Garfield's Peter WAS too cocky. He quickly went from loser to popular kid in the blink of an eye. I like the movies fine I put 'nos' because the characters in Avengers aren't complex (especially the army Loki commands) and Avengers is 100% plot driven.
Guardians doesn't have complex characters. You can argue Star Lord is character driven but no one else is.
I said 'sophisticated' story telling. Only Iron Man and WS deliver that.
Fans complain every time an actor is replaced. They complained when Garfield replaced Maguire. They complained when Daniel Craig replaced Pierce Brosnan. Heck, they complained when Michael Keaton replaced Adam West.
And as long as the new guy is good, they come around. It happens all the time. If the new guy does well, they will all be talking about how much better he is than Garfield.
Unless the current guy is a Clooney-esque disaster, a good portion of fans always love the current guy above all else. I remember when Roger Moore was the BEST BOND EVER. And I remember when Timothy Dalton was the best Bond since Connery, not like that clown Roger Moore. And I remember when Pierce Brosnan was the second coming of Connery and Bond was fun again after that boring Timothy Dalton. And now Daniel Craig is the BEST BOND EVER and Brosnan was horrible. It is an endless cycle.
I really don't understand this complaint..
Why do people feel sorry for Flash? Flash was a fricking bully for Christ sakes!! he got what was coming to him!
I loved it when Peter humiliated him.

In the Raimi films it made more sense because Flash was attacking Peter. Peter was just defending himself. In TASM Peter was just acting like a jerk and he damaged school property.
I would have to reread it, but in the comcs I'm 85% pretty sure after high school graduation, Flash went off to war. (Then it was. Vietnam).
You see him shake Pete's hand at High school graduation (tells peter he's an ok guy but he's not "spider-man") and although he does pop up from time to time (often to hang out with Pete. Harry, MJ and Gwen) he does not keep picking on Pete, at least to the degree in High school. The most that would happen is one occasion were Flash made an off comment that led to a run in were they almost came to blows (Flash said he was just playing and Peter felt Flash was trying to make him look bad in front of Gwen) but overall they did became friends in this time period. After the war they became better friends.

Okay I will admit Peter started the fight, but of course he's going to be a little reckless at first considering he's been the underdog his whole life.In the Raimi films it made more sense because Flash was attacking Peter. Peter was just defending himself. In TASM Peter was just acting like a jerk and he damaged school property.
PeterExactly. You can bet if the internet was around in the days of those previous Bonds there would have been fan petitions just like now.
It's the same reason why Uncle Ben lectures him over it after. He was showing off. It's one thing to fight back and defend yourself, it's another to make a holy show of someone, even if they're a-holes.
I felt no sympathy for Flash either, but Peter could have put Flash in his place without doing the whole humiliation thing with the basketball.

That is only the first day of college too. So much for thinking Peter is ok lol. And he picks on him like this lots in the college days.
Oh please. He didn't "humiliate" Flash, he made a slam dunk. Should we ban basketball from existing or something? I don't know if you're serious or just making stuff up to support your point.
If beating someone in basketball makes you a jerk..... You may just be too sensitive.
Bear in mind, Flash was 80s movie bully evil before Uncle Ben died. He threatened a girl, something I've never seen even happen in real life. The stuff he did would make him end up in jail nowadays. Being defeated in basketball was an enormous blessing compared to what should have happened to him.
Bare in mind, I ended up liking Flash and I also agree with your point that Peter didn't seem to have any reason to be considered unpopular. But you don't need to make stuff up to support that.
Damn, Harry was ugly in the classic comics lol.![]()
