Homecoming The Amazing Spider-Man 3 General Discussion

Although you are right about Peter having a complicated life, and the movie attempted to do that, just was put together well, I honestly do not think portraying Peter's chaotic life into a 2-2 1/2 hour movie transitions well, as the outcome, is a mess of a story that just seems random, I mean, isn't that what happened with Spider-Man 3? Several unfortunate occurrences until the story was telling the characters? I feel Peter's chaotic life is better represented in cartoon shows and comics, because it is more of a natural feel to it? If that's the right phrase? It's like taking a soap opera storyline, and turning it into a movie and making it so bam bam bam rather than a planned and unforced drawn out series. This could all make no sense too, as it is hard to put into words. Bottom line, yes, Peter in the comics had a chaotic life, but trying to make a bunch of chaotic occurrences that feel forced in a 2 1/2 hour movie isn't going to feel smooth. At least it didn't to me.

I have noticed that actually. Last night around 2 AM I watched a little spectacular Spider-Man, and realized that it looked beautiful on my TV, but would be trashed to hell by critics if it was a live action film.

I have to admit, my inner fanboy makes me very biased on spidey films, I love almost all of them with the exception of Spider-Man 3. But that's mostly due to that fact that I never have liked venom...ever. (Sorry Venom fans) Not to mention how obvious it was that Spider-Man 3 was really Avi Arad's film and not Raimi's.

All in all...I have to give this new film 3rd place on my Spider-Man films list. Neck and neck with Spider-Man 2. But that's my own opinion. I really enjoy the sort of cheesy comic book feel of this movie.

So days of future past is having a directors cut. I don't even give a shut if you think an amazing spiderman 2 directors cut won't come but it's gonna come damnit. We just have to wait for an announcement

Yeah, pretty crazy really.

Funny too, Spider-Man fans can't even get a response on twitter regarding the potential of a directors cut and the first tweet about the DoFP is answered.

Show's the different philosophies between the two companies, and you have to wonder if that's reflected in the success of both franchises.

And the funny thing is is that you guys have been putting stuff in my head combining my need for making stories feel real. I know you guys never meant it and you seem pretty cool but like the scared little idiot that I am I hoped my temporary pessimism didn't effect my luck.

Anyway my head is cleared so I can say this:

Yeah Sony are a bunch of idiots. I mean they cut alot of stuff out of the film AGAIN and as a result they didn't make the money they were expecting. I mean really? After they cut out so much important stuff of what should've been a good movie they had the gull to be optimistic about making millions? Really? You know if they have just left two of Marc Webb's films alone then maybe they would've made alot more than the avengers. And with the 9 deleted scenes we're getting they also contain commentaries which we would ha e no idea what the characters are saying including some brilliant scores by Hans zimmer. Seriously, the smart way to do this is to give us the damn directors cut then you'd be making enough. I mean isn't the purpose of rebooting the series was to keep the rights? So why mess around with them. I know some companies are like that But this is just baffling

There were a lot of contributions for TASM 2s downfall & not just deleted scenes

Lets hope to us all that the delay of the third movie is real along with other good news about the third installments

I actually quite like this film, and I'll tell you why...I like it because they made a huge mistake that was what I was looking for. Peter's life in this movie is chaotic. I don't think that was intentional, just poor putting together of the film, but in my eyes it. Worked. Here, let me give an example.

***Spoilers***

Comics: Peter Parker has a crappy life, everything falls apart on a regular basis, and his life as spider-man must hang in the balance of all of this happening simultaneously. Villains, school, relationships, other subplots...that's just his life!

TASM 1: Peter wants to know about his parents, so he tries to findout. Blah blah Oscorp, powers... He helps Connors. Uncle Ben dies. Peter learns his lesson eventually and has to use his powers to stop the lizard, who he helped create. He does, Cpt. Stacey dies, Peter hooks up with Gwen anyway, the end. Final Swing.

TASM 2: Peter is fighting the russian mob in the streets of NY, he saves Max, and almost misses graduation. HE and Gwen break up because of Gwen's ************ ghost dad, and Peter goes back to being Spidey, all while struggling with his love for Gwen. Harry show's up, and discovers he'll soon die, just like his dad. Harry and Peter reunite, and become bff's again. Peter is still PO'd about his parents, so goes back on his mission to find out about them. He and Gwen get back together kinda, and Gwen tells Peter she's moving. as Electro shows up and rains terror on new york before spidey kicks his ass. Harry tells Peter he needs Spidey's blood, and Aunt May tells Peter the truth...we think. He tells Harry no blood, Harry gets mad, throws things, and makes Spidey an enemy. Peter finds out his dad wasn't a traitor, and Gwen calls him and says "Bye m8, I'm off to England. Peter says he'll go with her, and Electro shows up because of Harry releasing him and shoots some sparks everywhere. Spidey defeats them, harry is the Mini-Goblin, kills Gwen. Peter cries for a bit, and...OH NO RHINO.

So yeah, it's all over the place, but sounds like an average day in the life of Peter Parker.

Which is why spidey works best on television than on film

If they are good villains, name me one phrase they said?

Serious note, has anyone seen the amount of praise Dawn of the Planet of the Apes is getting? I think maybe Webb shouldn't have came back since the guy who did Rise didn't come back. Still a rebooted/prequel series that is getting critical acclaim and people think critics hate TASM series because it was a reboot.

Marc is a great director but I agree that there should be someone else like maybe drew Goddard since he's working on the sinister six film

I don't want Marc to go, imo there was nothing wrong with TASM 2, but i understand some of the critism, Marc is a great director, guys please give him one more chance.

I've suddenly lost all hope in TASM3. No idea why, but I just... I just have no faith in Sony to do it.

I have to agree with OriginalMiles. Something about it feels off to me, like there isn't much more that can be done, a dead end. Unless they hire a new team, writers, director, the whole shabang.

Next month we'll get some casting news, I'm sure of it.

I think, based on their track record, it should do terribly. If you look at the quality of SM2 and then the descent in SM3 and then think about ASM3 descending in quality, it would probably be really awful, but I think (I hope!) they have learnt from SM3.

ASM2 wasn't quite as bad as SM3 but I definitely think they will learn from ASM2 (again, I hope) and what went wrong, to rectify the situation. I think there were problems with both ASM and ASM2, ASM2 tried to be 'more like Spider-Man' but I think overall the problem with both movies is they copied the latest trend rather than doing their own thing.

It's much easier to copy a formula of the recent successful blockbuster, but it is also lazier, because the reason they were such hits is because they were refreshing and different compared to what came before and they closely followed their own materiel.

I wish the makers on the next one would stop doing what everyone else is doing and do their own movie. Spidey is a great character if you just give him a chance. Which is not what I think they did for ASM series.

TASM2 just seems like all of his OWN creativeness was cut out. Idk. Especially seeing TASM and 500 Days of Summer, one can see he has a certain style that wasn't seen in TASM2

I don't understand this whole "this movie is following the trend". What do you expect of it, to tranced the genre? When people say that, they refer to the tone, right? Well, the director will do whatever he thinks is right in the context of the story that he is trying to tell. The "dark" tone fit TASM because that was the kind of story that Webb wanted to tell. The lighter tone fit TASM 2 because that was also the kind of story that he also wanted to tell, one that has Peter Parker being the perfect Spider-man. He doesn't necessarily follow any kind of trend.
