At least is what I see on Facebook and Twitter.

They loved it so much that it made the least amount of money of all Spider-Man movies and superhero movies this year. Voting with your wallet is voting.

Specifically it had exceptionally poor legs (roughly a 2.1x multiplier). Poor legs indicate poor word of mouth in most cases.

Look how modest these numbers are and shooting doesn't even start for another 4-5 months. The TASM 2 predictions were a lot higher... Myself included, I think I predicted 800M for TASM 2 which I thought was being modest. The movie looked fantastic in the trailers.

Predicting a movie this early is ridiculous but I'll do it anyway. I'll end up changing it in 2017 anyway (yes I think it's getting delayed).

Yeah, I thought I'd make a thread for predicting it "early". In a sense, good way of measuring the confidence in the series after TASM2. But you're correct, no way to definitively guess, or even accurately guess.

Obviously as more details come out, regarding both this movie and the movies it will compete with, we'll be able to make a more decent prediction.

I think it is reasonable to see where expectations are right now. It is a lot easier to get a grasp on box office than try and predict critical reviews. Box Office is influenced far more by previous films in the series than reviews were are based pretty much soley on the quality of the particular film being reviewed.

I think most of us predicted TASM2 to do much better than it did, at least before it turned out to be pretty lousy. That tells us that TASM2 completely failed to come close to meeting expectations. So early box office predictions do have at least some value.

Umm shouldn't this thread just be deleted in general and why the heck did you bring up a yr old thread.

Also harry those are nice numbers but that would still make mcu spidry the least grossing spiderman film and one of the lower end totals for a mcu film. What we really need is better numbers then that. Sure be great to score a billion like avengers and the iron man films that did. But we need grand total to be past 800 mill at least.

So with that you can see every spiderman movie besides Sm 3 grosses have been going down. So getting any thing under 700 be pretty bad.

What we need it to be is something along winter solider, guardians or the surprise summer hit jurassic world. And end up in the 800 to 950 mill total run and it's us and international numbers spilt up from like 400 mill us and 500 mill international.

Ya I doubt expect getting a bill like I said. But we should hope to 800 to 900 range if we want film to be a smash hit. And with marvel invovled I think we could get that. But if we end up lower then the asm series. Or lower then say all the first solo films for mcu be bad. We need to hit a good figure for success for disney and for sony.

Well like I said if it was to be under 700 it be very bad numbers. We need grand total to be 800 to 950 mill range. And at least 400 mill us and 500 mill range international to have a hood haul for mcu spidey.

Anything 800M and over is great IMO. Anything beyond that is just gravy. Hitting that 800M marker sends this franchise in the right direction with a solid start.

that is all i hope for. And hey we could always have a mega hit just happen like Jurassic world was. But ya we need over 800 to be a success for marvel/disney and sony to all be happy campers.

it'll be really interesting to see how this film does at the BO. Sony & Marvel are going to have to market this film as "Marvel's" Spider-Man, and not just another Spider-Man.
