Am I the only one that doesn't want to see a Lizard who wants to take over mankind?

It just seems so... I don't know, generic and a little cheesy.

I really can't picture the Lizard we've seen so far saying "EVERYONE WILL BE LIKE ME, EVERYONE! MUAHAHAHAHA!" to himself.

But, like I said, it could play out either way.

You still have all of the guilt Peter has by already having Lizard killing people, So in retrospect Peter was already too late in saving Conners from the first instant he killed. Especially if Conners can recall what he did, even vaguely, then the turmoil Conners will feel ultimately ends up in him selling his life away, but by turning himself in and confessing to the murders and damages he did as the Lizard instead of being killed/killing himself. Him being in Prison will by itself cause Peter more guilt, and he would still lose one of his mentors and friend.

I like it since that's what I've grown up with. That notion is intrinsically linked to the Lizard to me ever since Spider-Man TAS. I grew up on that show. So, without that? I don't know - just seems essential.

I can see everyone's concerns on the following...however, I feel everyone should remain optimistic. It could honestly go either way. I know a lot of people are thinking this is going to be cheesy but I honestly feel these ideas could be really cool.

I personally don't think they are going the route of "The Lizard is attempting to change all of mankind". I think the SWAT Lizard are more of a reflection of Connors tragedy. When the SWAT team goes down into the sewers to find the Lizard, I think he ends up capturing them rather than killing them.

He will probably then conduct experiments, with what little humanity he has left, to try and cure himself. Then, because he becomes fully primal at the end, he kidnaps Gwen. Somewhere, in the deep recesses of Connors mind, he probably remembers her from his human life. He knows she is a genius and probably thinks she'll be able to cure him.

And I love that the final fight takes place at Oscorp! I too immediately thought of the Spider-Man: The Animated Series fight. I really can't wait to see how this film turns out. Oh and that new picture of Lizard has me a little more excited for his design. It's growing on me.

But that Lizard wasn't anywhere near as big as this version. It'd just look silly to me.

I'm on the fence about this.

I still think they're more to do with Oscorp experimenting then directly to do with Conners. Only feasable explanation for it to be Conners is to do experiments on them to cure himself, like Resistance61513 said.

So in the scene in the trailer of Doc Connors walking into the Bioreactor Mix Facility, he's holding something in his hand. Maybe that's the first time he injects himself?

I'm not sure that size is completely accurate. Sure, in that toy he looks gigantic. But, I'm pretty sure that's just the toy. He'll probably be tall, but I doubt he'll be monster movie tall.

He's confirmed to be over 9ft tall.

EDIT: Oh, thanks VenomSpawn.

From an interview with Rhys Ifans:

"That's hard enough. I did have the CGI suit for certain scenes. The Lizard is 9 feet tall. There was one day that I went on set and they had a double, a big big guy, playing me, as the Lizard. I looked at it and I went 'No.' Following that Marc [Webb, the director] let me know all the physicality. All the physicality you'll see in the Lizard is my own."

So, yeah. A 9ft lizard-man.

Can you imagine this version of the Lizard cackling to himself as he's in his secret lair, hunched over a microscope, coming up with plans of how to turn everyone else into a lizard-person? :funny:

Buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuut, this idea will either be done very well, or very badly. I hope it's not the latter.

Iagree with you Troy, but like I said I think it'll be to do with Oscorp, or atl east more than him just turning them into Lizard men....at least I hope.

Not normally a spiderman poster, but when I read the swat lizard thing I was like "are you f'n kidding me?" dumbest thing ever. Not a deal breaker but doesn't make me too optimistic.

Still not that tall. Guys are usually 6 feet tall. That's just 3 feet more. It's towering, but it's not this huge movie monster. The Lizard in the toy looks to be more like 15 feet tall to me. The Lizard in the cartoon was taller than Spidey as well. So, I don't really see a big problem with it. I'd actually complain if he was the same height.

The SWAT Lizard... I'm pretty sure we all knew about but thought was just a rumor. That leaked a while ago I thought.

You're not alone.

It takes away from the Lizard in so many ways:

1) It makes the Lizard less unique... seems he can turn anyone into a Lizard Man. And if the toys are accurate, with the Swat guys still in gear, it makes you think the transformation scene will be quick (stupid). I am hoping that these are ones he has captured from a previous trip (by them) into the sewers and slowly converted them.

2) It takes away from the savageness, and smacks of the evil genius trying to take over the world and turn everyone into Reptiles.

3) IF Capt Stacy's scene (death) is in that, and if it involves the swat/Lizard team.. it takes away from that to me.

I do not like this at all, but like you, I will give it a chance. It is either gonna be Really Good or Really Bad. I do not think there will be a in-between.

has this been confirmed or is it speculation? I wish I could avoid information like this but the spoiler free board is dead.

It's confirmed. The Mega Blocks toys have released shots of their TASM stuff and one of them is a battle between Spidey and Lizard on top of the Oscorp building with SWAT Lizard things.

And people complained about S3 being too cheesy? Get ready to drown in it here. Any speculation about these pics being the Lizard in mid-transformation can be put to bed now. This is what we have and it looks like a late 80's TV design. Unless your 11 or 12 years old, this is not going to fly.

Why do you speak like you're opinion is fact? Just because the Lizard isn't overly detailed doesn't mean it's cheesy. I don't know why a complex design equals greatness for you.

Can you tell me about a certain scene in the movie I've been wondering about? Obviously since you've already seen it you should be able to help me out here.

...That didn't make any sense, haha. Not once did he say the movie was cheesy. He said it was going to be cheesy. There's a difference. He didn't sound like he saw the movie at all.

It's his opinion. The movie is going to be cheesy to him.

Anyway doppelgangers are never a good sign. That to me shows weakness in the script unfortunately.

@socool Name the last movie you've seen with identical dopplegangers that was actually good.
