160 million pounds? If that is true then this could easily be the Green Lantern of 2012. Poor advertising combined with a lot of resistance from moviegoers combined with a huge budget means this could be a potential disaster.
How is Sony Pictures being this irresponsible with the future of the entire studio in doubt?
the crucial difference is WB rushed the trailer and the effects were awful (AWFUL!) I remember the green lantern fans saying the trailer was a good one and people understand the concept of unfinished CG, whilst sony are taking their time.
1. the trailer was terrible
this have nothing to do with me being baised because I'm a marvel fan.
it looked like rushed, pandering, unfinished MESS.
who was the trailer aimed at fans? no offence but who cares about the fans they are going to see the movie regardless, the trailer has to hook the general audience.
2. the CG was terrible and unfinished
people don't look at unfinished cg and think 'oh, that will look better in the final movie' no, they simply say that looks rubbish.
if the effects aren't finished or look bad DON'T release the trailer, it's suicide and what do you actually gain.
in the grand scheme of things does it really make a difference if sony release the trailer in dec (with poor cg) than jan (with good cg)?
ASM to me is nothing like green lantern that was a mess from start to finish, and that's just the marketing.
