The Amazing Spider-Man The Amazing Spider-Man General Discussion & Speculation Thread - Part 10

Visually this film looks amazing but I feel they are taking too many liberties with the story you just don't go messing with arguably the most popular superhero's origin, how ever slightly.
Only thing I'm looking forward too/hoping for is that possible cameo of Norman Osborn and hopefully Emma Stone getting her neck torn to shreds in the sequel, no beef against her I think she's hot but yeah gotta see Gwen get snapped by the green meanie!

I'd rather that because it makes sense, rather than he just feels like beating everyone up.

Money isn't an issue? Are you serious? That's like making Tony Stark broke in Iron Man, financial issues have always been Parkers character! Gives me more of a reason to dislike this film now.

Spider-Man can work well as both team up and solo and it's clear it's what the GA want to see considering all the " CAN I HAZ SPIDERMANZ IN AVENGERZ PLZ!!??" comments I see everywhere.
The GA should not be listened to all the time. They complain that something is a rehash, then they complain that it is too different.
On the money thing, it might not be an issue now, because Uncle Ben had a job. That might change in the sequel once Uncle Ben has been dead for a while. Plus even if he isn't poor, he will still have very limited resources, so it's not like making Tony Stark broke

They also bring the money in, I can guarantee if any studio had Spider-Man plus another franchise in Marvel they would exploit the hell out of it, especially after the success of The Avengers. Hell If Warner Brothers had Spidey they would do a Batman crossover just for the hell of it. They don't care, Spidey sells.

Another thing that bothers me, why is Conners so evil in this? I thought he was spidey's buddy? Conners is essentially supposed to be like Bruce Banner, confused and not under control of his transformation. Dr Jekell to Mr Hyde, why does it seem more like Mr Hyde and Mr Hyde the Lizard man instead?

No one has said he's evil yet, man. Don't take scenes in a trailer out of context. In the scene you're probably referring to, he clearly looks like he's in the middle of a change or about to change and letting the serum take him over. And yeah I agree with you that they'd exploit him, that's just good business but I don't want to see him in the Avengers. He'd be purely comic relief

Every time a story is re-told, things change. Especially when you go from one medium to another.

And the GG didn't snap Gwen's neck, it was actually Spidey's webline that caused her neck to break.

I don't even know where this has come from. Someone wanted to have a moan about the reboot and pulled this out of their arseor something. I've seen nothing to back this up at all.

In the trailer where Peter's dad erases the chalkboard, you can see few things like "arachind genome" and "delivery agent" which at least almost proves that he made the spider, I guess

The fact that Peter's dad actually would've tested Peter is yet just an assumption. Personally, I don't see that happening but it's still a possibility

something interesting from a Webb interview:

Q: Not to get too specific about the trailer, but who was the voice that said, "Did you tell the boy about his father?"

Webb: Oh! [laughs] You'll have to see the movie.

Q: So it's intentional mystery?
Webb:
Yeah.

That proves it, definitely Norman Osborn. If he was David Lowell, a random Oscorp employee, why would it have to be a mystery?

No it doesn't. What you just said is only speculation. Webb's answer is just a vague statement that people could read into.

It's the internet, people are going to read into everything. The guy could be Norman, he could be a Norman surrogate. Assuming he's Norman is just a bad idea

So you would rather have the people making the movie get more money than having a quality movie to watch?
Also, I don't think Doc Connors will be evil. We have only seen like 2 scenes of him where he isn't in the middle of a transformation or already transformed.

Arachnid?? Wow so it takes that element of chance even further away, I imagined that Peter may have been experimented on with some biotics, genome bullcrap (if he was experimented on) and then gets bitten by a Spider which causes Spider like powers but this confirms that he was essentially given Spider powers by his daddy from the start, great.

I know but I didn't think I'd have to make that so obvious here.

He's getting orders from the evil (possibly) Norman Osborn in such a villian lacky kind of way but I suppose from Conners perspective, Osborn could be a good man, manipulating him.

Stark was comic relief in Avengers but he still kicked countless ass, this is Spider-Man we're talking about, he'd be written brilliantly in a crossover, I'm certain of it.

No you miss my point, people say they don't want it to happen because it's "stupid" but Spidey is like the most crossed over character in the marvel universe and EVERYONE wants to see it live action, my friend said to me while watching Avengers "I wish Spider-Man would pop out since they are in New York" and if that fight was happening in the comics he probably would have considering the scale. I don't want to see it because it would make good money, I wanna see it because it would be ****ing awesome if done right. And I'm shocked a lot of you so called comic fans don't wanna see it.

For a lot of fans it seems to go against their perception of Spidey as a street level (roughly) hero with villains who are more down to earth (relative term) and they view him mostly as a loner. To me it reads a lot like the people who like a similar aspect to Batman and dislike Robin. In this case they don't like Spidey as an Avenger.

oh sorry for the misunderstanding. The problem is, it might be hard to do it right because there are so many other characters at that point, Spider-man might end up being there for comic relief. I'm not saying that would happen, but I have heard that Spider-man isn't taken as seriously in the Avengers books. He is actually a useful part of the team in the Amazing Spider-man comics but that is because the book revolves around him. The action scenes would be insanity though. Iron man flying while Hulk is smashing (an image of Nigel Thornberry suddenly popped in my mind while I typed that lol.) while Hawkeye shoots arrows While Thor shoots lightning while Cap throws his shield while Spidey swings would be ****ing epic

I don't really wanna see him as an Avenger, I understand that, I didn't like it when Spidey joined in the comics either. But I'd love to see him cameo or show up in someone else's movie or a massive superhero event not join a team, he's better as a loner.

Sounds like the infamous tracking shot in the Avengers lol it would be, I want him to be a loner but I want him to help out when **** goes down in his back yard in New York, fans would eat that up.

Lol my brother and I were joking about that. Nick Fury got the cheap knock off Spider-man called Black Widow haha. jk

Personally I enjoy him as an Avenger. I don't really see a good excuse for him not to be. If they did something like Civil War or Secret Invasion in the MCU I would hope that Spidey would be at the heart of it, but the rights issue make it difficult even if it was around the time of Avengers 3 I expect. Even without the rights issue and liking Spidey in Avengers, I wouldn't have him on the team until we have seen the original team built up over a couple of movies first.

I completely agree with everything said here, as much as I like Spidey as a loner I wouldn't be bothered if he did join eventually in the MCU. Only if the main Avengers; Black Panther, Scarlet Witch, Quicksilver, Ant Man, Wasp have at least joined before hand as you've said.

He does need to be the heart of a Civil War and/or Secret Wars movie.

This is the main reason why I want spidey to eventually become part of the MCU. His perspective on the entire war was what, for me, made Civil War such a compelling story.

I think what Majorie is trying to say is that Uncle Ben's death was a huge inspiration for Spider-Man as a hero - he caught robbers and murderers, the same people that killed his uncle. It wouldn't make sense for him to already be a vigilante before his uncle died.

Exactly. Thank you. The rumor I heard about Uncle Ben's death on the CHUD forum is
that Uncle Ben is killed in an industrial accident. Has that rumor been debunked?
Has it been confirmed that the car thief shown in the trailer killed Uncle Ben? I read that in someone's post here. Why would Peter become a vigilante before Uncle Ben's death, catch a car thief in the middle of a heist and let him go free?

Footage shows that Ben wasn't killed in a industrial accident.

Uncle Ben dies at the hands of the car thief in the trailer. I have no idea where these stupid as **** fake Ben death rumours are coming from.

Because Spider-Man has not learned the lesson of responsibility. He messes around with and practical tortures the car thief. A police officer arrives and attacks Spider-Man because he thinks the Car Thief is the victim. The car thief is let go and later goes onto kill Uncle Ben because of Spidey's messing about.
