So I just read the James Cameron treatment. I actually liked it...except Peter curses and says MOTHER******! And MJ and him make love on top of the Brooklyn Bridge...for some reason I think that scene would translate well in reality.

Also...Electro and Sandman are villains. They didn't seem bad at all overall. They both got character development.

But, glad Raimi took over. Still, I bet that movie would've also been great aside from the fact that Peter cursed.

Fun fact: Cameron had Leonardo DiCaprio in mind to play Spider-Man. They actually discussed making it, while they were shooting Titanic. Ironically, the role eventually went to Leo's best friend.

Tobey Maguire is not Leonardo DiCaprio's best friend. Nor is Andrew Garfield.

Actually I've heard they are in fact, really close friends.

Wait, Cameron had Sandman and Electro as his villains? The script I had of Cameron's featured Doctor Octopus?

Weird...there's a whole site dedicated to that lost movie, that's where I read it...and it had those 2. And they were referred to only as STRAND and BOYD.

There was another one with Doc Ock (I think it was based on an earlier script from the 1980s) where Ock said "Okie Dokie!!" alot and had this sidekick named Weener and James Cameron wanted Schwarzenegger for the role.

I think Schumacher may have been the reason that idea was buried.

You're completely wrong.

If I recall, that was an older draft that pre-dated Cameron's involvement, but he had nothing to do with (even though he was listed as one of the writers, due to legal reasons).

His scriptment that featured Electro and Sandman would have been the basis for his feature and that was a rough outline.

To my knowledge, Leo is the only actor Cameron himself has mentioned in regards to Spider-Man. Everything else, was more or less rumors.

In that script, Electro/Strand, had a girlfriend or something and it described her as "extremely beautiful, most beautiful woman Peter has ever seen"...makes you think who'd play that role since this movie would've happened in the mid 90s, possibly late 90s.

Maguire and Dicaprio have been BEST FRIENDS since before either of them were famous. Before they hit puberty, really. Hell, it's not just them.

Dicaprio, Maguire, Kevin Connolly, Ethan Supplee, and Lucas Haas have all been best friends before any of them were famous and now they are all famous. It's like the real life version of the tv show Entourage. They all met while auditioning for roles when they were kids, and now they run Hollywood.

Oh look, it's Maguire(center) and Dicaprio(right) as kids, hanging.

Sorry for the rant, but there friendship is one of the coolest things about Hollywood. How awesome would it be if you and all your best friends became famous acclaimed actors? Well Dicaprio and his friends did just that, and I could not just idly stand by while someone so confidently claims that they aren't best friends. They are. More so. They are like brothers. And Dicaprio played a big factor into Maguire getting the role of Spidey. Not something everyone knows about.

that's so cool! and to think they are both in the new film adaptation of The Great Gatsby together! Tobey is Nick and Leonardo is playing Gatsby! =D

That's cool how they're friends and they're both going to be in the new Great Gatsby movie.

Totally digging the cast for that movie.

A group of friends becoming successful in the business isn't that rare.

Wow, is that the prequel to Pleasantville? LOL

I forgot the name of that movie Starring DeCaprio and DiNiro with Maguire making a few cameos as one of Tobey's (that's the name of the kid who loves to be called Jack instead played by Jack from titanic :awesome:) friends

Actually Cameron was around during that idea. Before the Electro/Sandman treatment, some writer presented a treatment called "Doc Ock" where he was the main villain and it was sort of like '89 Batman where the villain was the main attraction of the movie. While Cameron was on board during this time, he mentioned how he wanted Arnold to play the villain. The idea was scrapped which gave Cameron the chance to create his own script which was Electro and Sandman with completely different names from the comics.

I got turned off maguire when he acted like the biggest *****e ever in an interview. he and his wife had just had their first child and the interviewer was asking about the new arrvial and he was a total arse about the whole thing and was essentally saying what has that got to do with spider-man i.e. get back to asking me questions about the movie.

I was done with him after that not to mention the disgraceful peformance in SM3. good riddence, replaced by an actor who has far more talent and seems far ore gracious and most importantly is a fan of the character.

Sounds he was there to promote a movie rather than discuss something he'd rather keep private.

there are better ways of saying that and it only takes a moment to say your family is doing well. it doesn't take much time or give any private details. manners don't cost, they're free.

I kinda liked maguire and dunst and then they grew to big for their boots. what exactly are doing now?
