The Amazing Spider-Man The Amazing Spider-Man General Discussion & Speculation Thread - Part 5

I'm not bothering to read it, and I don't really care what is up with Miles and his story, but just the idea of a little kid running around trying to be Spider-Man is pathetic.

Call me when Peter Parker returns :o

no offense, but until u actually read the stories and get to know M.M your opinions/arguments on Miles are extremely invalid and senseless.

to completely bash and talk so much crap about the character when u know nothing about him is just as silly as the Raimi extremests bashing the new film.
I could understand if u actually read the first five or six issues...THEN i might be able to understand your argument. but u know only 2 things about Miles' : jack and *****..

...and jack left town....

therefore I don't get your argument/opinion/hatred.

and again, not trying to bad mouth you, just saying/pointing out it IS kinda silly

Didn't you get the memo? He's either got a stick up his butt or he's warming up to being a prick to anyone's opinion that he doesn't like.

Sorry for the sidetracking here but: why the hell is Norman Osborn still alive in Ultimate Spidey?

EDIT: Oh wait, Norman died with Parker, right? He only appears in flashbacks since the new spider that bit Morales was actually created before Parker died, right?

Oh well

Everything about Peter was ten times better than Mary Jane becoming a Goblin as well as the continuing story of Gwen being Carnage.
MJ became a fem version of Man-Wolf
Gwen clone is weird for having Carnage
Granted, they both had their failures, but Ultimate's wasn't any better or an improvement.
It's much much better, and a huge upgrade

How was that cool? They just pretty much added the idea of John Jameson/Man-Wolf and combined it with Kraven, who was perfectly fine as a human and only tried to make him a monster to fit into the Ultimateverse that seemed to suggest you had to be a real freak to actually go against their version of Spider-Man.
It's an acceptable change, and he became Ultimate Puma

So at least you're not a fan of Miles?
Nope, just cause I didn't pay enough attention to care

Never read it, but I'll believe you from what I've heard about OMD as well as BND.
Thank you
As a reader who enjoyed BND, that direction had some quirks, nothing to make it :barf: worthy like some made it to be

I really don't get people automatic hatred of Miles in the new ultimate spider man. Yea, it was kinda weird for them to say he's black AND Hispanic but after reading a few issues its pretty good. And as a long time Spider Man fan ( who is black) it was the first time that it really hit home with me , that Spider Man could be anyone under that mask no matter their race or ethnic background. One of the reasons Spider Man is so popular and loved is because of how relatable he is and the fact that he could be anyone.

And if it's not like they killed off the Peter Parker we all know and love. He is still kicking in the 616 Amazing Spider Man universe. So I just never got why fanboys had this huge problem with Miles. I could maybe understand if they killed off both Ultimate and Amazing Peter but they didn't. And besides the whole point of the Ultimate series is to modernize the classic heroes.

I said it before and I'll say it again, MIles Morales gave just another reason to not go back to USM.

I left USM a long time before Miles happened. Heck, I left all of Ultimate, and seeing how the Ultimatum Event happened, I don't regret it.

First couple of issues of Ultimates 3 drove me away. Thankfully I got out before the X-Men started going cannibal.

Care to explain? I would at least give the character a chance before I out right hated him. Again, does it really matter that much that Peter is dead in the ultimate comics? He is still alive in the amazing universe.

He's a good character and I agree with you on all points. And as a black man, it's great to see Miles be a main character and not a sideshow.but you act as if this is the first instance of comic book fans bashing something without reading it or experiencing it for themselves..this isn't a new phenomenon lol and it won't be going away anytime soon. I think he's a good character, Bendis is still a good writer and he has enough differences from Peter to make the book not feel like a retread.

Miles Morales is a great character but I can't get into him like I can USM Peter.

Because of this, I don't read the USM comics anymore.

Also, I can agree with others who say Ultimatum pushed them away. It did me too. Mainly because they killed off so many characters without any real rhyme or reason.

USM was still okay (mostly) but the Ultimate universe wasn't the same for me after that.

ah see, I pick and choose what I read with certain things and I skipped ultimatum all together but I understood what it did and the consequences, etc..and that's fair, it's why I didn't read any Batman once Dick took over for Bruce until I kept hearing how great Synder's work on Detective was and I got sucked back in..but normally, I only like to see Bruce under the cowl, no one else. But like it was said, Peter will be back in June so we'll see how that turns out

Ultimate Spider-Man issues in that event were well handled
Try the series relaunch after Ultimatum, it's great

I do agree the Ultimate Comics: Spider-Man was good but I only think that worked so well afterwards because they didn't kill off any crucial characters (except for
Kingpin
but that was after Ultimatum).

Only Spider-Man was left intact after Ultimatum, at least, until Death of Spider-Man.

Isn't this the Amazing Spider-Man General Discussion and not the Ultimate Spider-Man comics thread ?

Just checking.

It's the "Movie inspired more by Ultimate Spider-Man comics more than 616 stories" thread

So it's okay when Peter Parker was a kid and did it, but when someone else does it it's pathetic? New does not always equal bad.

The whole idea of Miles Morales is pathetic. Just a scheme to attract a broader audience, that's all.

THIS.

I mean Pete was 15. Miles is 13. whhoooooo2 years younger than when Pete started. such a biiig deal -.-

I mean I admit when they first announced he was 13 i was all "meh" but after giving i a chance and reading it, i'm hooked

I'm still at the "meh" area. Like I said, call me when Peter returns

Hey, no offense taken, but I still hate the idea of Miles. I read the first issue of the new guy and that's all I needed to read. There is no way I'm going to "stick with it" to see how it happens. I don't like Miles, period.

Didn't you get the memo? He's either got a stick up his butt or he's warming up to being a prick to anyone's opinion that he doesn't like.

Jesus man, you called Raimi's suit TACKY!

'Nuff said right there.

Also....when it comes to Miles, for anyone who does like him, I've never said their opinions sucked, but for yours, I have said it because yours are quite moronic.

Don't remember this one

So now Kraven's a mixture of John Jameson/Man-Wolf and Thomas Fireheart? Ultimate sucks more than I thought.

Nope, just cause I didn't pay enough attention to care

Well, that's at least good enough for me, lol.

Thank you
As a reader who enjoyed BND, that direction had some quirks, nothing to make it :barf: worthy like some made it to be

I never liked both with the direction it went.

I said it before and I'll say it again, MIles Morales gave just another reason to not go back to USM.

Thank you!

Finally someone agrees with me.

I may not like your opinions on Raimi's trilogy, S-MH12, but at least we can agree on this topic

They could've created a different character instead of killing off Peter.

That was just a cheap trick and I will always view it that way.

Was it a cheap trick when Barry died and Wally became the new Flash? No characters can remain static forever, and it took major balls to kill the character that started the entire Ultimate Universe. Any time a comic company does something new, somebody calls it a cheap trick. Even though they don't actually read it. :whatever:

I read most of the Ultimate comics with Peter, and I didn't like most of what I read.

But haven't read any of Miles, and hate him anyway. Yeah, that makes perfect sense.
