Excatly! But there are some fanboys out there that will hate Miles just because of his race. They feel as though it's a gimmick and some are sadly just plain old racist.

um, nobody freaked out when Heimdall was a black guy. Most people around here were pretty happy about it because he's a good actor.

Check out the Heimdall threads, they're still in the Thor forum. Seems like every week someone would start moaning about how unrealistic a black viking was, and then they'd get accused of being racist, and then they'd whine about how they're not racist but they'd like some historical authenticity in their comic book movie, and then someone else would point out that they aren't actually vikings but otherdimensional aliens so historical accuracy was already out the window, and the whole thing would go on for pages until it got brought up again a few days later.

I don't want to say that I have a problem with African-American actors playing characters that were originally white. I'm alright with it, I guess, as long as it's a supporting character or a minor character. I don't think I could get behind a race change with a main character, though. I would not want to see an African-American Spider-Man, for example. And that's definitely not a racist thing. I just don't think it's right. Besides, if a race change happened with one of these films, for the main character, the controversy of it would more than likely overshadow the film.

I have no problem with a race change either I liked the half African American and half Latino version that came out in 2011 comics. I still think that there needs to be a homosexual version of the character to appear on the big screen that does not have any female characters around in it except for maybe the black cat. Why Harry cannot make an excellent love-hate relationship with a great amount of depth, especially after he becomes the Goblin is beyond me. Perhaps this is the reason that Norman mistreats his son so much and the two have something to relate too. It would replace MJ being abused by her father.
