Confirmed? When?
No doubt there. They're doing that in 616? I had no idea, but I think it's pretty smart, imo; but for the reboot, they should do that from the start. I mean, we're already having a lizard serum turn a doctor into a lizard, so it's not that far off from having a serum turn someone into this humanoid goblin with green skin. In fact, it'll be MUCH more frightening than a guy in a green suit, let alone a guy in a green robotic suit as seen in Raimi's film.
Confirmed? When?
I honestly don't see that happening. MJ is a very important character and I see her and Harry being introduced shortly. They're not going to end the trilogy on an extremely depressing note. Not unless they end it with Peter meeting MJ, similar to the end of (500) DoS, leaving the audience to decide what happens next.
It was confirmed a few days ago when we found out that things like Peter's parents story/secrets won't be solved by the end of this movie. I think it was in an interview.
EDIT:
-The Lizard has a flat face to convey emotion.
-Both Peter and Connors spend the film "zig-zagging" through life looking for their "missing piece."
-Peter doesn't react so "violently" to the Lizard because he knows what he truly is while the city is out for blood.
-Connors does some very serious stuff as the Lizard.
-The movie combines various parts of many different versions of Spider-Man. (Peter is Ultimate, Gwen is Amazing, ect)
-Webb prefers the movie to be known as "grounded", not dark.
-Spider-Man's humor was a major point of Webb's approach.
-Webb values the romantic side of Spider-Man.
-Webb took the project because it was new for him.
-The movie's scope grows immensely throughout the course of the film.
-The movie is designed to be it's own thing but the story of his parents is brought through out the trilogy. (Don't expect this to be answered by the end of TAS)
-There is a hint towards the villain of the next movie.

What...the....fudge...
Why does everything have to be a flipping trilogy
Edit: I assume they'll be taking the TDK route then and we'll be having Green Goblin and Gwen's death in the sequel?
Same here. Killing off Gwen in the third act (film 3) isn't how to do it. You need to give the franchise room to breathe after that - Pete needs to be shown dealing with that grief and coming out the other side with MJ. You can't cover Gwen's death and all it involves after it in just one film.
I'm more worried about them copying the same villain template in Doc Ock. It just seems redundant to me to have him be the villain in the second film of both franchises. I wouldn't mind seeing him again, but it wouldn't be terrible to have a different villain.I don't think I am a fan of The Amazing Spider-Man 2 pulling, pretty much, the same thing that The Dark Knight pulled.
Main villain ---> Main villain kills the woman that the hero loves
True. If Ock is shown, he should be in the third or fourth filmI'm more worried about them copying the same villain template in Doc Ock. I don't know how they could make this realistic-looking. I, too, wasn't that big of a fan of the suit in Sam Raimi's Spider-Man but I think that even what they were going for at first (video below) looked goofy. But who knows? If they can make an 8 foot lizard look convincing, they can do anything, right? It being an Ultimate-ish inspiration of this new reboot, they should make Osborn turn into a 'goblin', but not Hulk-size in that comic series; as a normal-sized 'goblin' with purple garb on much like this:

Be warned spida-man. You have just unleashed hell. I've been down this road.
Good for you man. I'm an Ultimate Goblin fan as well. The Hulk comparisons get pretty boring if you ask me. The only slight parallel I ever saw is that the Hulk is supposed to be the incarnation of Banner's rage and Ultimate Goblin is pretty much the incarnate of Osborn's madness. Which, honestly, is always what the GG has been in the first place. I never understood the outbursts.pffft as much as these guys give me crap for my opinions in the past, i could honestly care less
