The poster is obviously trying to suggest the movie will be darker than the previous films, for better or worse, so I'm just calling it as I see it. If the tone of the poster is misleading then all the better.

I'm pretty sick of people instantly connecting the darker approach this movie is taking to batman.
There's a huge difference between batman and spider-man, in every single way, and that includes tone. A dark spider-man movie will look completely different than a dark batman movie. Period, end of statement.
Plus I don't even think dark is an apt description for what this movie is going to be. More like gritty and serious, with a more real-world approach to the character and his situation.

I'm sick of the stupid twilight comparisons. Ok so there's teen romance in this but it in no way looks like twilight. Plus his hair is hipster but hey that is the current style

Agreed. Absolutely nothing about this is reminiscent of Twiglight anymore so than all the other countless movies involving teen romance.

Only thing that I'm not really fond of is the tagline imo. Makes it look like it's part of the Raimi universe...

Kirsten Dunst wanted her and Tobey to cameo in the reboot but Sony wouldn't go for it.

“I had the idea of Tobey and I as extras and we’d just walk by in the background but it’s not in there. Those two things were contradicting one another in both Spider-Man movies, I like them in those movies, just don't want to see them done again

Also, if I think about it, gold lenses would be block the sun more for Spidey. Kinda like sunglasses. Same visibility though. Strange question...

I think the poster represents discovery and unlocking who you're meant to be. It's not an overly flashy poster, but more of a poster with a message. The shadow represents the hero buried within the meek teenager. The film is about a kid finding himself and who he really is, and I think the poster reflects that.

^ what he said. I love the idea execution of it, and though it may have looked better with like a blue or red tint to add a little colour, it is as far from Raimi's poster as a farari is from a ford. Which is a good thing imo.

Loving the new set pics too, but what is he doing faceplanting a door?

I think both Tobey and Kirsten seem to be nice people. I like that they both seem to support Webb and his cast. I wouldn't have anything against a small cameo by them
