The reveal has been delayed. The facebook Spider-Man game page just came out with a statement that we unfortunately have to wait a little longer. I'm going to assume deadlines were not met. They will be sure to reveal the release date soon.

The reveal was going to be the game release date but the game has been delayed, so the reveal has also been delayed... someone was meant to tell us about that but then that announcement got delayed...

I knew about this all days ago. I would have told you all but I missed my bus, so I got delayed as well.

Haha or, IGN got ahold of that beta that Beenox sent out, played it, then thought it was complete garbage so they wrote preview saying so and now Activision is trying to do damage control.

If there is ever one thing about game journalism, it's that previews are rarely ever negative. They always praise the game or say something like "Oh this mechanic doesn't seem to be working but we're sure it'll be polished by the time of release."

Then you read the review and the journalist slams everything they praised in the review. Kind of annoying if you ask me.

Yeah, I know right. That would suck. I hope that is not the case but it sounds to me as if they missed a deadline or something. Also a possibility is that they have a European tour coming up before GDC in which they'll be presenting the game so there's a chance they don't want to show anything til next week. I dunno. Either way, I am losing a bit of faith.

I'm pretty sure Arkham City didn't invent any of those things.

Disappointing "reveal", but I guess that's understandable. Hopefully they do reveal a lot in the preview. I can understand why Edge of Time held off on reveals (WAY too short and major spoilers), but this game, if it's as large as they claim, could handle it.

Somehow I don't think the games journos 'not liking the game' is the reason here. Beenox are apologising for the delay. It seems highly unlikely that every games site has decided they don't like the game, then expressed those opinions to Activision before putting it in writing. More likely is it's a trailer or something that isn't quite ready.

It is unlikely that is the case. Like I said in my post, I think maybe they have more to show or would rather wait a bit longer due to the upcoming GDC. And like you say, it is also very possible the reveal trailer is not ready.

I was joking. But i honestly wouldn't be the least bit surprised if that were the case. If any publisher was going to pull stories for fear of bad press, its Activision.

Agreed, their credibility as far as Spider-Man is less than impeccable, so I can see them postponing this big "reveal" until they come up with something a little more worthwhile

Yes. Also, coming up in the next issue of XBOX the magazine (out on March 6th) will be a 5-page spread that includes "scintillating" details about the game. Hopefully the 'reveal' will be out by then, if not, we can look forward to the article.

I know Beenox is going to be promoting this game thru the GDC, as stated on their Facebook page, however I am not very familiar with the GDC. Is that something that will have video footage much like a CC would??

To a degree. Its not nearly as publicized as say a Comic Con. The GDC is more of an internal thing amongst developers but there will deff be footage coming out of there. The GDC is closer in style to the DICE Summit than say a comic con or E3 or TGS.

My point though was that this 'reveal' was actually in the hands of games sites wanting to publish their hands ons, no way Activision could stop EVERYONE from publishing their report just because they think it will get a bad write up. That would be almost impossible to contain, and when one or a few inevitably get out anyway they would look stupid.

More likely they just werent ready to show something. Who cares though? It's not like the game is only 3 months away.... :S

No, not "more likely". That's the reason. They had some sort of a reveal set, decided it wasn't ready and pulled it. I just made that comment because Activision is evil and that type of thing would be something an evil empire would do.
