From ASM Devs on FB:
"Fan Question #3 answered by Rodolphe, our Lead Game Designer.

Josh C. Hoeck asked if the combat system would be different from our previous games.

'Hi Josh! Yes, the combat system has been fully redesigned to give the player a much deeper and more realistic experience than previous Spider-Man games. We’ve put all our efforts into avoiding the button mashing syndrome. We are also integrating the new Web Rush gameplay mechanic that will allow the player to execute acrobatic and combat combinations like never before. Are you ready to experience what it’s truly like to have Spider-Man’s powers? :) ' "

This looks to be promising. I like that he said they are trying to avoid the button mashing syndrome. It's plagued Spidey games in the past and I am very interested to see what kind of combat system they have in place for us.

Sounds like the crazy webs that you guys all hate won't be in the game.

I never hated the web based attacks but I've always wanted a more realistic, acrobatic, flowing combat system for Spidey and hopefully this game gives us just that.

I remember there being alot of b****ing about the web hands & stuff. I STILL haven't played SD (I will eventually), so I can't say what I think about them.

Yep. A LOT of *****ing indeed. I liked it for what it was...something different for Spidey. I wouldn't say I hated it but like I said I prefer the acrobatic style of attacks. Think Catwoman from Arkham City but with Spiderman-esque jumps, kicks, dodges, and poses.

I HATED, HATED, HATED, let me say that again, HATED the web based combat. I thought that web fist was one of the dumbest attacks ever put into a Spidey game.

Stoked to hear they are going for a more realistic approach.

I've never felt that they've done Webs properly anyway. It's either bullet type projectiles or generic 'stun' an enemy web tie. I'd love some diversity with the webslinging. Like, tying two guys together, picking guys up with webs while swing past them, etc. They could some up with something really cool.

Agreed. A FreeFlow-esque combat system would be excellent for Spider-Man. Just look at some of the naunces of Batman: Arkham City's FreeFlow. Things like the Critical Strikes and FreeFlow Focus modes would work really well within the context of a Spider-Man game.

Yeah those web fists were immensely cheesy and stupid.

Absolutely.

The Amazing Spider-Man Game

We have an all-new reveal coming up this week...keep an eye on IGN.com!

I wonder what they will be revealing. I hope it's a trailer focused on some combat and other game mechanics but it will probably be a villain reveal.

I hope for a combat trailer and maybe a villain reveal as well, to make up for the latest lackluster game trailer.

As long as we get a look or at least a rundown of some of the gameplay, ill be happy.

Yeah...I swear to God if they show more bots...:cmad:

Same here. I am so anxious to see the new combat system, web swinging and the Web Rush thingy.

You could do this in Spiderman 2, FYI, and you are most correct, it was awesome.

New trailer looks great. I hope the game is in-depth and lengthy and not just another "run to this mission" like the 3rd Spider-Man movie game. I'm a little weary of the "mechanical monster" threat on the city, but the videos look pretty awesome.

is there a better link to the trailer the video on the main SHH page just won't load for me

So, anyone thinking we're getting a reveal tomorrow? Week's almost over.
I'd be pretty disapointed if this big reveal was just them releasing the trailer we've all seen but in HD (it's already been on HeroHQ's YouTube account for months under private in HD) and a boring screenshot lol.

I agree about the mechanical monster thing, I just hope their is a plausible explanation for their existence. The videos we've seen thus far look pretty good, and the news about the combat is a little relief IMO, I was getting pretty tired of the button mashing.

That thing looks exactly like a Reaper from Mass Effect.

I hope this isn't the reveal...

I wouldn't complain if they did. They could learn a thing or two from that game.
