The Amazing Spider-Man: The Game - Part 2

I can see what they mean about the Rhino battle feeling uninspired. But I still think that battle will rock! As Beenox say, it's only one part of a longer fight, and other previews have said that it looks great and cinematic, so I'm pretty sure that I'll enjoy it even though the trick-Rhino-into-charging-into-something method has been used before.

Yeah, for the most part, in every Spidey game that you encounter Rhino, it's a matter of dodge, Rhino runs into something and gets dizzy, you attack until he 'wakes up' then repeat. It hasn't always been that way but for the most part it's like that. In other reviews they've also commented on how there is no HUD whatsoever and the fights look very cinematic. I think it will be fine.

Also, to note the reviewer seems to think that Beenox has nailed the next-gen swinging mechanics for Spider-man not seen since SM2 and even thought it looked "righteous." During the combat portion of the demo he commented on the similarity with Arkham and felt that it fit Spidey better Batman due to his natural agility.

Iv always felt that. The first time i played Arkham Asylum i said to myself this style would suit Spidey perfectly, hell it'd suit him better. Altho without the shattered knee caps and elbows.

Altho, reading that over and iv come to the conclusion that previwer was an idiot. I almost stopped reading at this:

The baddie's buddies might get suspicious and look around for a bit, but given some time, they'll return to what they were doing, no worse for the wear. Metal Gear Solid, this is not

Um, thats EXACTLY what happens in MGS. Enemies get alerted, they look around, then they go back to doing exactly what they were before.

Gaah I need a gameplay vid now! I just want to see someone play a level or something without any editing.

The trailers are great and all but it feels frustrating when trailers are cool but still don't really tell much about the gaming experience.

Anyway...to talk about something else. I find it interesting that there will be many villains as it seems. I hope Shocker gets in!

That would make me really excited. I hope Shocker is the next reveal.

Yea I'm hoping for a good number of classic baddies. I think Shocker would fit well in this world. Im still holding out hope for L. Thompson Lincoln in a portrayal similar to how he was in the Spectacular Spider-Man tv show. Id love for there to be like a side mission of an increased level of gang activity or something that eventually leads you to the "kingpin" which ends up being Tombstone.

Yeah Tombstone would be really cool! Maybe he uses Chameleon to assassinate important people or something? That way you'd get to face him as well! :)

The plot and the villains revealed so far should display strong consistency to the story, I don't see Shocker, Tombstone, Prowler, and many others making an appearance that wouldn't come out like a sore thumb

If anyone, the next (possibly the final) reveal should show the mastermind behind these biological attacks, or Allaister Smythe in Ultimate-Slayer-Armor (if not the final reveal)

I think it will be something like this:

Rhino
Iguana
Vermin
Kraven
Shocker
Spider Slayers
Black Cat or Prowler.
A gang leader (Hammerhead, Kingpin or Tombstone)
Someone working for the gang leader (The Spot or Chameleon?)
One of the Smythes

Is it confirmed he won't be a boss then?

Yep. It was confirmed he won't be a boss.

I agree 100%

Just because someone is a "reviewer" doesn't mean they are smart. I saw that part too and wanted to comment on it but forgot to post something about it. I'd like to think he was getting a BJ from a hot secretary while writing that part and his mind was elsewhere...nah, he's probably just an idiot.

Yea i do too man.

Thirded.

So you know the story? How do you know the villains that are going to be consistent with an unrevealed story?

No thats not accurate in the slightest. Im sure there will be a main thread that runs through the entirety of the game, but you want to break that up with other arcing stories. A side mission that focuses on Tombstone or Shocker would fit right in, along side the main arc of the game and would not, as you put it, stick out like a sore thumb. It could easily work the same way the side missions in Arkham City worked.

I explained why his thoughts on that subject were misguided.

You can easily bring in Shocker or others unrelated to the main narrative and not have them feel out of place. Its been done a billion times before in other games.

Yeah, I agree with you man, with side missions and side stories other villains could easily work and coincide with the main story. I was posing those questions to Aziz because he was making claims that certain things wouldn't work based on the main story but he doesn't know the main story(no one does at this point), so his claims are unfounded.

Yea im assuming he thinks the main story will only revolve around Oscorp and them altering DNA to create things like Rhino and the Lizard. Im sure thats a big part of it, but that doesnt mean you have to stick only that formula. You can easily add someone like Shocker in a side mission. In fact ill bet anything that there will be side missions parallel to the main story that have little to do with the actual core narrative. Thats when you bring in the Shockers, or Tombstones etc.

I don't know the story, that's the vibe I got from it

If they do, I hope they succeed

That preview writer was not good. First off its the Iguana not Lizard in the game. Secondly, Arkham City's combat is far from shallow or easy.
