The Amazing Spider-Man: The Game - Part 2

Yea it boils down to how long can u hold off the repetition. A game like GTA will have u go through the entire story and u might only hear a pedestrian repeat the same thing once or twice, but that's with a game thats super high in detail. We know ASM won't be. I'm sure that'll be one of the knocks on the game, unfortunately it just not something Beenox can do in a 2 yrs dev time.

If this is one of just a few minor nitpicks with the game and there aren't any major issues...I'm good :woot:

Most avoidable nitpick
Depends on how many times you'll play through the game

Its not really a nit pick tho. Dumb or repetitive civilian AI can zap you out of the experience extremely quickly. Just look to the orig Assassins Creed game. Or the balloon kid from SM2 or damn near every pedestrian from SM3.

Yes and no. If the AI is robust you'll be fine, if not, you may end up noticing them for all the wrong reasons on your first play through.

my little small nitpick is in the music department, I hope they step that up as well. I don't want the generic heroic theme playing as you're swinging. I would like for the music to match the tone and be in context with what is going on. Sure you'll be doing alot of swinging, but IMO, nothing makes a fight more badass than great music to accompany it

Yea i think one of the best aspects of Arkham City was its soundtrack. It was incredible.

yeah, the music adds alot to the game, especially during combat. The final levels of Arkham City had some pretty epic music

I was just thinking this the other day. I played a little USM and SM3 and was reminded of how terrible the music is. In USM, it sounds like generic Super Nintendo era music. SM3's music while free-roaming as black-suit Spider-Man is just terrible, eery sounds that can't really even be called music. Even SM2's music was just constant drum loop generic music. I never liked Web of Shadows' music much, but I now might think it's the best of the 4 free-roam games.

I wish they would follow the Assassin's Creed way of playing music in the game. In those games, there's a theme for each city you visit that plays on a loop. If you get into a fight, a new theme will fade in and play for combat music. If you're running from guards to try to escape, another theme will sometimes play. For Spidey, I'd like to see one or two theme songs that play when you're just hanging out in Manhattan. Maybe a different track for night and day, whatever. But it would be nice if a new theme would start playing when you reached a certain speed of locomotion and started swinging, falling and Web-Rushing around. It's so weird just hanging out on a rooftop admiring the view in SM2 and hearing the fast-paced, generic drumbeat track playing. I want to hear music that's more relaxing when there's no action going on. Otherwise, it just feels out of place. And of course, a separate combat music track would be nice as well. This is all just a suggestion for free-roam gameplay, and doesn't include all the different tracks that could play during important story moments and indoor levels.

I would like a frantic theme for freefalling, especially when he is changing out webshooters. Spidey should have his own theme, and the main villain needs his own theme as well. Combat should be a variation, if you take on enemies using stealth, the music should be somewhat subtle, if you're spotted, it intensifies to a more dramatic tone. Swinging and travel should have an upbeat tone since you're moving pretty fast and what not.

It can go either way really. Those things that Dee mentioned the civilians would do was only part of it and he eluded to there being more interactivity in another interview that he did...I think it was the one from Hiphop gamer but I'm not sure. I highly doubt we'll have the same repeated stuff and as often as those in SM2 or even AC. I mean, yeah, it could be that bad but I'm sure it won't be. In fact, I'll send a Tweet to Dee and see how he responds.

Edit: I just sent that Tweet to Dee Brown. I'll post his answer here once I get it.

Did you like the music from SD? Or even EoT? I certainly did. One of the guys that was involved with the score from EoT is working on TASM. But I agree, I hope the music fits whatever is going on and it'd be even cooler to be able to select tracks to play while swinging about. And for the love of God, I swear, there better not be any friggin Dubstep on there.

Agreed.

Ditto.

During the free roam, yes. Some mission tracks are enjoyable, like chasing Beetle as Spider-Man, and the Goblin chase

I love the music of SM3, and it has music for moods even in free roaming, but man do I agree with you on this one, it's mere noise

Yeah

HELL NO. It has better tracks than SM2, but the only track to like from that game is the one not made for it

You seek something like a track for each island?

I like these ideas

I really hope there isn't music playing while your free roaming. I would love just swinging and hearing the wind roar past you and cars honking, people talking. Arkham City did it best with no music playing while you're gliding around but if you get into it with some thugs, the music comes on to get you pumped up.

One thing I was a LITTLE disappointed to hear was the police reaction to Spidey. He'll help out but they won't be hostile towards him. That could have been a nice touch, if for once, the police actually DO treat him like a vigilante. Perhaps some individual cops let you off the hook if you help them, because you're Spidey, but to have cool random events when like, the Spidey task force is chasing you and you have to escape.

You know how in Assassins Creed escaping guards was an interesting idea until you got so good at fighting you'd just always fight the guards? It'd be interesting to have something like that with Spidey, since he morally wouldn't hurt police officers.

Not a huge thing, but that could have been a nice and different take on Spidey.

You say Arkham did it best but I still preferred gliding around with my custom Batman playlist playing anyway :P

So will they go easy on Spidey by the end of the movie? Much like with Batman?

Haha yes I too had a Batman playlist playing while I was playing that game.

How would I know? I'm talking about the game. :P

The Danny Elfman Spidey soundtrack is gonna be working overtime with this game :P

Eh not for me, the only tracks from Elfman's score Spider-Man that I liked was Venom's and Sandman's

Lol and Elfman didn't even do those ones. I'm pretty sure that was Christopher Young who took over from Elfman after he and Raimi had a falling out.

haha oh yeah that's right. I didn't mind his Spider-Man theme but eh it wasn't too memorable to me like his Batman one was. I absolutely loved the Venom theme though

Screw memorable... Sure the Batman theme was memorable which might have worked for an 'iconic theme' but Elfmans Spidey theme is literally PERFECT for swinging around to. I used to do it in SM 2. Seriously, the cascading strings, the change in tempo, it actually crescendos and decrescendos perfectly to the rhythm of Spidey webswinging. I can't wait to do that again!

And as fun as the Batman 89 theme was, still not as cool as playing Batman AC with Hans Zimmer's Batman theme and dropping in on a group of guys JUST as 'Mollossus' starts to play. So epic :P

Meh, I'm not usually into much of what Actiblizzard puts out anymore, but I'll be grabbing this as I have been wanting a new open world Spider-Man for a long time. As long as it's better than that horrible dreck that was SM3, I'll be happy.

I just thought of a villain thight might have a good chance at being in this game.

Man-Wolf?

Maybe I'm a bit late haha

BTW, speaking of soundtracks, Edge of Time actually did have a pretty good one imo
