They havent announced a preorder bonus for Best Buy right? Will they? Because that's the ony reason why I havent preordered it yet.

webs always attaching wouldn't really work well in this game to begin with. It worked in SM2 because of the combination of the dual webs and the pulled back camera. This allowed the player more reaction time to be able to properly deal with the trajectories that come from attached webs.

With this games close up camera the player doesn't have that reaction time and it the combination of close camera and always attaching webs would do more harm to the gameplay than it would improve. The devs did numerous tests with the idea of webs attaching and realized this so they chose instead to balance between realism and gameplay to make sure the game would be as enjoyable as possible.
Ya, well, personally this pulls me out of the game immensely, but I guess I'll see how it plays. I would've pulled the camera back while swinging to keep that sense of realism in there. That was half the reason SM2 was so well received, the sense of actual swinging. Also, the close in view here seems to make the swinging feel really slow. So far, I think SM2 still looks to have superior webswinging, but like I said, I will wait to actually play the demo before I judge it. Color me unimpressed as of now.

It's not Josh Keaton. He already stated via twitter that he is not voicing Spidey in the game.
He sounds close enough in that unclear footage, maybe someone talented enough to imitate Keaton?

There has been no mention of a preorder bonus specific for Best Buy and I don't think there will be one. So far we have the Rhino playable character available thru the Gamestop preorder, a Stan Lee playable character thru Amazon, 2 tickets to see ASM the movie thru Walmart and I think that's it. I'm pretty sure those will be the only store specific preorders.

However, it has been noted that there will be 'other' content available no matter where you make a preorder. This 'other' content is rumored to include bonus suits and I've seen an ad for a couple of extra missions added to the game as well.

I'm not sure what to make of that footage. There are some great animations in there and some other not so great. I think I'm gonna pick the game up tho.

Thanks I've been wanted to preorder it at GameStop but not before I confirmed Best Buy doesn't have one.

While web-swinging, the animations he does after letting go of the line are disturbingly similar to Web of Shadows.

That's where upgradeable web-swinging would have come in handy, but I seemed to be in the minority here of wanting that.

If they had upgradeable web swinging what we have would be the max. They didn't just eliminate the idea of upgrades and block you off from top tier web swinging, they just start you at max without the need to upgrade.

they aren't using the same animations if that's what you are implying. The two games are made by completely different companies.

Some ppl have a REALLY hard time understanding that

No problem. I ended up doing the preorder thru Gamestop. I think I will enjoy the Rhino gameplay more than the Stan Lee gameplay.

Beenox used past Spidey games as a reference for making TASM. I'm sure there will be small similarities to a bunch of other Spidey games inlcuding SD and EoT and honestly what's wrong with that...taking the best stuff from other games and trying to incorporate that into this one. And frankly, the web swinging and animations of Spidey during the swinging are just about the only redeemable things about WoS.

I'm not sure why. People nitpick about the stupidest sh_t. You get the full benefit of Spidey's web swinging out of the gate...I think it's a great idea. There's plenty of other stuff to upgrade...the web rush, combat, and the web shooters.

I've never seen a game so picked apart. I mean holy crap...

I also enjoyed the Spidey 1 movie game.. You could swing ABOVE the skyline in that game..

Aww come on Benstamania, for as long as you've been on the Hype, you should already know virtually any and everything gets picked apart here. For example, Josh Keaton - worst voice for Spidey EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, dig in

When designing the game I would imagine that the web-swinging has to be at a happy medium to not be too fast or to slow and the aforementioned speed is what was settled on. I think they were capable of making the swinging faster, but I don't work for them so I'm not gonna argue that as fact.

I'm well aware that Web of Shadows and Amazing Spider-man were developed by two different companies. I also understand that they're taking certain aspects from previous games, it just seems odd that they would take the EXACT same animations and incorporate them into this game rather than adding some variation to those moves. I only mention it because I just played Web of Shadows again a couple of weeks ago and remember thinking to myself "I wish they had done more with his animations after letting go of the line" something was sort of boring about them, and then oddly enough I see it in this game.

Nitpicking?! I never once said I wasn't going to purchase the game or I hate the developer because something I don't agree with was incorporated into this game. I'm not nitpicking about the stupidest ****, all I am doing is posting comments on different aspects of the game, good or bad...isn't that what this is board is for?!?! Let me discuss the game without you or ProjectPat catching feelings.

I disagree, that function was paramount to adding a level of realism, skill and satisfaction to the game that simply will not exist here. I'm not saying that this alone will make it a bad game, it just seems like a step backwards. It also just looks wrong. It really doesn't bother you guys at all that it makes no physical sense? To me it really throws me off. SM1 was fine because there was no precedent. If no other game had done was SM2 had, I probably wouldn't even care or notice, but it's now engrained into my head, haha.

Well, since you asked lol, what little was lost the other day with the combat footage has slowly been gained, the webswinging looked great, I liked the carjacking random crime, although I question how his webs were able to propel the car into the air and suspend it, but oh well. I'm still keeping hope alive for this game bro. I pre-ordered my copy when I picked up Max Payne, just waiting for the 26th to get here already :awesome:

It's a small similarity and one that I probably would not have even noticed had you not mentioned it. The only thing I can think of that was similiar was the part when he lets go of the web and does sort of an upsidedown twist up into the air. Is that what you are referencing or is it something else? For me, I don't care that they borrow stuff from other Spidey games and the animations during WoS while swinging were some of my favorite throughout the Spidey game history.

Whoa, lol, easy there. I wasn't talking about you when making that comment.

Where'd you preorder from ?

I gotta say that I was impressed by the new footage. There were a few minor things I did not like but nothing that will disturb my enjoyment of the game.

Two things I would like to see at E3...1) Watch the demo in HD being played by someone from Beenox. I'm sure this will happen when they do an interview with the Beenox team about the game but the reason for this is so we can see someone play the game that knows what they are doing lol and can truly show off the controls in a good way.

2) I'd like to see a lot more of the combat.

I preordered from Gamestop, I liked the way the game looked especially when they would pause the game and it would give off the effect of glass breaking. You can definitely tell they put in some time in making the game look visually appealing, and I have to agree with Dee Brown, the closer camera does give you the sense that you are Spider-Man. All in all, what I want to see in E3 is a full combat video, even if its one skirmish, I just want to see the "borrowed" elements from Arkham Asylum. I knkow in every other post, I bring up AA, but dude, the game just hit the nail on the head with the combat, I just want to see how it translated to TASM, if its what I'm hoping, despite the video we saw previously, then I'm in for a treat. I'm prolly one of the few that still plays Captain America: Super Soldier to this day

I don't think this game will have combat that is at the same level of polish as the Arkham titles. I'm hoping that what we get is something that is close to that experience and makes for a fun, rewarding combat style that has me coming back for more. Just a couple of more days until we get to see some action. Ahh, so exciting.

you said it better than I did, but yeah, I'm looking for the same thing out of it. It can have its own style of combat, I just want the game to be good, after SM3 and WoS, I think we deserve a great freeroam Spidey game, I mean c'mon, the last one we got was back in 2004, we're long overdue my friend

I love that those Spidey swing animations MUST have been borrowed from WoS, you know, as opposed to the comics where I'm pretty sure WoS devs got a lot their inspiration anyway (regarding Spideys movement, obviously not story :P). When I see those poses, my first thought isn't 'WoS', it's 'Spider-Man'.

No. It doesn't bother me. Most because I'm playing as a guy that got super powers from a Spider bite. :p

I was talking about Spider-man, If you want to talk about the Spidet game you should start another thread and not derail this one!!!!

All jokes aside, this game is doing some good things with the stylized close up camera and web-rush abilities. I imagine that if this game turns out successful they'll add more to the web-swinging for future games. I miss hitting different button combinations to make him do acrobatic moves while web-swinging...oh well. Would be great to get another Ultimate Spider-man game with the cel shading and such.

You guys should read some of the youtube comments from people that played the demo, some interesting observations.
