The Amazing Spider-Man: The Game - Part 3

Well, the footage they show at E3 better rock our worlds. I really don't mean to bad mouth Beenox, but this lack of a proper gameplay video makes it look like they have something to hide. They don't have the credibility of Rockstar, EA or some of the other "more successful" game companies out there to hold out on gameplay footage and keep it at a "wait until it releases" scenario. TASM needs to be leaps and bounds better than the previous games just because this is their third game and they're bringing back freeroam, our last 2 outings with the freeroam Spidey games have mixed criticisms. This one needs to blow those out of the water, I give Dee Brown credit for verbally standing behind his product, but seriously, actions speak louder, and in this case, video = action.

I don't understand the cry for game footage. You never get straight on gameplay footage unless there's a big conference or they're trying to sell something hard to sell like The Witcher 2.

Damn, those punches did look really weak. If those animations aren't fixed in the E3 build, I wonder if any sites will gloss over that, and then call Beenox on it in their actual review. I'm leaving to Costa Rica on the 10th, so I'm glad the E3 footage will be out before then.

Well, its not that hard to sell a Spider-Man game, but with the amount of press from Dee Brown in regards to the game, he's making it sound like its going to top the other freeroam Spidey games. With all the talk, there needs to be some video footage of raw gameplay to further sell the product. Hardcore fans will get the game, but that could be solely because they're fans. The game itself should appeal to those who aren't that familiar with the character as far as games go.

lol They had a demo you could play at a Carl Jrs here in California. The Carls was also covered in fake spider webs to promote the event.

OH, I didn't get to play, I just now saw the news report about it. :(

I'm in love. Going to pre order right now.

Combat video (real bad quality with no sound)

I agree but don't fault Beenox on not showing footage. Remember they have to go thru Activision's PR first and in this case they may even have to go thru Sony's as well.

more footage, another look at the combat too and wall crawling, you be the judge

Combat looks fun, I think they got the animation right, Spider-Man should be fast

wall crawling, you be the judge

Cool, wallsprint is back
Dee teaching how to swing from a helicopter? That's a plus
Still not a fan of camera being this close for Spider-Man

I'll just copy and paste what I said in the other thread:

OK after watching these new clips, some of my old complaints are gone :P

The combat looks really sweet there! The swinging doesn't feel to slow now.

Also, again I love the camera angles, the graphics and the lightings. If I have to give a few complaints, it's that Spidey's running looks a bit silly and that the Rhino battle looked way too easy (I'm aware of the fact that we'll face him several times though). I didn't like how Rhino seemed nerfed compared to his comic book version.

The robot chase was really great! Especially the end of it. Thumbs up from me! I now feel better about this game!

Also, another great thing the video uploader commented:

"Can't attack to civilians, but if you swing down to the streets and push X you can introduce yourself to them. Which is a nice touch."

Intro followed by freefall and swinging tutorial? It's funny that he starts with freefall like Wolverine in X-Men Origins

Nothing stupendous, it might be another good game, nothing more
Spidey sounds like Josh Keaton
Hanging on a helicopter doesn't look as fun as it is in SM2

It's not Josh Keaton. He already stated via twitter that he is not voicing Spidey in the game.

I gotta say, the animations and everything look great, but I will probably not get over the fact that it looks like you can swing on clouds whenever you want. Half of what made Spiderman 2 so fun was having to navigate through areas by finding real swinging points on buildings. Very frustrating that this is not the case in the new game.

webs always attaching wouldn't really work well in this game to begin with. It worked in SM2 because of the combination of the dual webs and the pulled back camera. This allowed the player more reaction time to be able to properly deal with the trajectories that come from attached webs.

With this games close up camera the player doesn't have that reaction time and it the combination of close camera and always attaching webs would do more harm to the gameplay than it would improve. The devs did numerous tests with the idea of webs attaching and realized this so they chose instead to balance between realism and gameplay to make sure the game would be as enjoyable as possible.

Awesome videos. I'm more confident, now.
