The Amazing Spider-Man: The Game - Part 3

Wouldn't it be awesome for a boss fight in a future Spidey game where you fight 2 villains at the same time?

If I recall correctly, you got to fight Shocker and Rhino at the same time in the Spider-Man 2 PSP movie game. I remember it being a pretty cool fight because you had to trick Shocker into blasting Rhino in the back and trick Rhino into taking down the pillars of the platform Shocker was standing on.

Anyone else play the PSP version? I remember buying it simply because it had a Mysterio boss fight, unlike the PS2 version. lol

It's a crime that none of the games since then have tried to do something similar. Having to fight Doc Ock and someone like Electro at the same time would be a great boss fight since you could use them against each other.

I agree. There's really only one game that I want to play right now too...ASM. I've tried playing some other games but nothing seems to be filling the void I'm feeling. Even AC has lost its luster for the moment.

That's how I feel. I'm not bothering to try and put in another Spiderman title to fill the void 'til then because it's not going to work. I want Amazing Spiderman, now.

I can tell I'm going to be playing this game for hours. I love the level of detail they have achieved.. such as the car accidents on the streets due to the chaos caused by the Spider Hunters are one example.

This game wasn't nominated for "Best In Show" from multiple sources for nothing.

So close yet so far. It's only 18 days away but it seems like we're moving at a crawl's pace. Damn you Einstein!
Don't shoot the messenger.

I'm at that point right now to play a bad Spider-Man game imagining it was TASM :awesome:
LOL! I've been fighting the urge to run out and pick up WoS because the concensus here seems to be that it has the best webswinging. But, I know it's only for a temporary fix and that I'll completely abandon it once ASM shows up. Must... be... strong!!

E.g. Sandman and Vulture teaming up, you try to take Vulture down in an air battle while Sandman is causing a sand storm that you're in the middle of, throwing some attacks at you as well. Then if you kick Vulture to the ground or a roof or something, Sandman tries to protect the wounded Vulture while attacking you or something. I think a battle like that would be epic as hell and something that hasn't been done before.
They kind of did this in Arkham City when you had to fight two of the titans, one of the Russian twins, and countless inmates and Tyger guards all at the same time.

controlling him or not, that fight was damn cool :cwink:
Yeah, that was such a cool fight, I was actually quite disappointed when it turned out to be the costume doing all the work.

Swinging, wall fight, nothing much really, unless you love flipping and kicking cars, the rest is 'bleh'
WoS Spidey: "I am everyone's sock-puppet, I even take orders from Kingpin, and if I refuse to take orders from Black Cat, for no reason I go to take the exact same orders from Moon Knight"

Unless you can find a used copy for less than $5 US, I wouldn't bother. I mean, unless you're a huge fan and want to play every game that features Spidey, otherwise it's really not worth it. Sure the web swinging is, imo, the best and most fun, apart from the 'realism' of SM2...you're going to get what seems to be an upgraded swinging experience in ASM over WoS. If I were you, I'd just wait and save the $5 and go buy some Monsters or something so you can stay up all night playing ASM.

I have a noobish question...

Beenox stated that they had to write their 'programs' from the ground up in order to make the swinging and web rush function how they wanted to make it fit their vision.

Anyone know what engine they used to create the game? Did they use a pre-existing one or did they create their own engine?

I wouldn't know. Im assuming they used an existing engine though. It would take a lot of time to create a new engine and i dont seen Beenox having that luxury.

Nah I think they have their own engine. They do use CriWare but that's just middleware.

Agreed. Like I said, I was just looking for something to help me get through these final two weeks. The days, they are a-draggin'.

They'll drag even longer if you get WoS. You'll just be reminded at whats to come in just a few short weeks.

Yeah, I thought about playing WoS the other day (it's been a LONG time since I've played a Spidey game), but then I thought how great it'd be to hold off and be (hopefully) awed by the ASM game. I think playing Wos (or other Spidey games) at this point would diminish that.

I can't remember the last time i played a free roam Spidey title. I guess it was SM3 and that was probably over a year or so ago. Deff ready for ASM.

I think in the original games that came out starting with the PS1 Spidey games, I believe they used a modified version of the Tony Hawk Pro Skater movement so that the game could move at a steady speed with out any dips in the framerate. Hard to say if they're still using it nowadays since Tony Hawk games fell off and Spider-Man strangely enough has had a better run.

hah, barely.

I'm in the same boat, I'm gonna hold out until the game comes out, next time a Spider-Man game enters my console, i wanna be blown away

That footage with the Beenox CEO was excellent. Definitely more excited for it. I'm hoping that if you're around buildings, it'll always stick to them, so I can decide just to never do it otherwise. I just think it adds a lot more skill and makes the webslinging a lot more satisfying. It looks like the most fun to way this game is to websling every once and a while, but mostly web-rush, which looks like it works pretty well. Looking forward to it. Not sure I'm going to pre-order it simply because I will not be able to resist playing it if it's in my possession, and I don't want to be spoiled for the film, haha.

Yea i think I'm gonna try and do the same. IE I'm not going to web swing over central park. Ill try and at least stay close to the buildings so it'll give the appearance my webs are actually anchored to a point.

Kotaku had a pretty good write up on it. Which.. Says alot since they're a "hipster" website and love to hate everything.

I'm certain the new game will be much better than Web of Shadows, so I had no problem playing that game until it decided to go all black screen after prying Kingpin's roof door open again
Not thinking the way you guys do now, not having this strong strong desire to play TASM and nothing else helps a lot, and knowing that if I desperately wanted the game I'll be disappointed for a while

I kinda was hoping to do that, I know I don't want to compare the new game to any other game
All I can tell now is it won't be like an old school game, so I don't have a problem playing Enter Electro for the time being due to that Spider-Man episode from Avengers: EMH

They're just a bunch of cynical a**holes. Believe it or not, there is a difference.

But yea I read the same article. The game really has been getting a lot of praise, ecspecially now after people have gotten to play it.
