Even if thats true.. Whats the big deal?

the problem is it takes away control. What if you want to let the swing play a bit long to launch yourself higher, or hold onto a web without releasing as you go around a corner. Sorry you can't because the game says you must start the next swing when it says so. It takes away the ability to fully determine when you release and when you shoot a web line.

I hate auto swinging from the previous games. Hope it can be turned off.

You know, I'm still excited for this game. But, I'm outright waiting before I get it.

I just don't want to spoil the movie for myself. And the game takes place after the film, right?

It does seem a little strange that they would release it earlier than the film. Especially with the spoilers.

You want to feel like Spider-Man shooting his webs, you want to have that control of how, where and when you shoot that web.

It'll spoil it if it's took away for the auto control.

Just replayed the 3DS demo.. Pats right. If the auto swing in the console version feels this way then I dont think too many people will be upset with it.

It's like people are both totally disgruntled at Spidey games that they don't want to get their hopes up but they do desperately want to have a great game again that they're willing to give in and get excited. I could only describe that as an abusive relationship. It's like Spidey games are the abusive boyfriend that we "Just caint quit!"

That's pretty much the best way to put it.

Ive gotta say.. Nothing I've read or seen has upset me. I have been pumped for this game since day one. I thought for sure I wouldn't be this hyped.

If the swinging is on auto, then how is spidey able to swing, and turn corners? Ive seen them do it in e3 footage and they were obviously holding the swing button

This going to be great. We're took onboard by Captain Spidey, doing all the swinging for us?

Might as well throw the controller aside, put our feet up and have him do the fighting as well, while we all eat our snacks and eventually dose off! :p

Has anyone gone to the Unmasked Event at Walmart and played the demo because they could settle the debate for us. Hasn't someone said they have or was that the other thread?

So what I can imagine is, based on what a preview said.

Unlike, say SM3, where you can stay on your web and have that control over it and having the freedom to get your momentum. In TASM, you press R2, he will shoot a web, giving you no control to stay on it, giving you no freedom to get your own momentum...so it's just going to be a fancy looking web zip with the look and feel of Spider-Man web swinging?

So you press the button, he shoots a web, does everything for you, and you just press it again. Keeping your finger on the button doesn't make sense either, cause when he propells upwards, it shows you to press the button again.

You can still control momentum in a sense. You can still swing out of a drop and you choose when to start the initial swing. You can also use the thumbstick to control your swing and where he is angling to. But if you just hold the trigger Spidey will just swing on his own. He will release the web on his own and he will launch the next strand on his own. You can release manually but there will always be a certain point in the swing where Spidey will automatically start the next web strand.

I mean, you can always just release the R2 button and reswing yourself.....

Thank you and I hear you can also press the jump button to let go of the webline just like in the other games. The only thing you can't do is hold onto a webline, but everything else is possible.

After watching the first 20 minutes of the game or so. I'm loving Reigel as the voice actor. I'd love to see him as Spidey in more games/tv shows.

The combat footage I've seen looks better than I initially thought, probably the best in a Spidey game so far. Graphics too. It's just a shame that they downgraded the swinging. It's going to be an obvious flaw staring me in the face the whole time.
Everything else looks new and shiny and awesome, then the swinging is 10 years out of date. Sigh, they came so close to delivering the next SM2 but for reasons I can't understand, destroyed the best part. I've had my fingers crossed for months that we;d finally get the return of dual webs, but not only are they not there but I'm unable to swing from buildings at all.

I don't get why some people find it so hard to understand, but being able to swing from multiple points on a huge number of giant structures of varying height and shape, offers a lot more than swinging from one predetermined point above Spideys head between buildings that serve no purpose.
To me, this is the equivalent of ARkham 3 allowing batman to grapnel boost off of clouds so that you can just soar from one side of the map to the other, far above all the buildings. I bet some people would actually like that, rave on about how it makes things more simple/fluid and saves you all this time blah blah... but to me it'd suck.

For those wondering how to get the black suit -

You have to 100% the game

Someone on X360A has the game.

This is EXACTLY the way I feel. In SM2, if you held the button, Spidey held the webline. The two actions coincided. To let go of the webline, you released the button. Ergo, it felt more REAL. I resent the fact that they told us they created this AWESOME game where the players feel like they're really Spider-Man, when what they've really done is taken a gigantic step backward, almost to the point that they've completely removed the player from the experience.

And heeeere weeee go!

Another page or three about how people are going to be disappointed in this game.. Then something awesome is shown and all of that disappears. I mean, if someone is disappointed for whatever reason, fine.. I'm not ribbing on anyone for that. However, this thread has seriously been a roller coaster of emotion.
