Yea that's true. But I much rather have organic side missions once the game ended. Give the player something to do other than just swing around or replay missions. That's the difference between open world titles like this and say a Skyrim. That world keeps on living. There's never a shortage of bandits or other enemies.

I'm in the same boat, I think the side missions and random crimes are an integral part to a freeroam Spidey game, it offers more to do outside of the story mode. As easy as it is to replay a mission, why jump through hoops in order to initiate a fight when you can swing into a crime in progress and whoop ass? I mean, it is Manhattan, they're is always **** goin down, so there should never be a dull moment.
If Beenox releases a patch, cool, if not, that's cool, this game has already solidified itself as the best Spider-Man game that I've ever played. Like UltimateWebhead said, the combat may not be as polished as AA, but it still works good with the character and often times it gave me that "why didn't they think of this first" feeling, it all came together really good. The boss battles were pretty damn fun as well, and even though I'm not really too fond of mechs, I found those boss battles to be extremely fun and visually pleasing. Taking down a Spider-Slayer and watching Spidey pull off a slow-mo back flip and slide down the street on a piece of debris definitely had my jaw dropped.
IGN, IMO was pretty biased with the review, I think they still stick to that "movie tie-ins" are generally not that great schtick, and to me, that's not the case with TASM. Sure some of the elements are a bit "too fantastical" to occur on film, but the overall experience of the game was really entertaining. It would take an act of God for me to ever play through Web of Shadows or Spider-Man 3 again, but TASM, I would gladly start a new game and set my own personal goals such as getting through fights without getting touched at all
