The Amazing Spider-Man 2 The Amazing Spiderman 2 - User Review Thread! - SPOILERS! - Part 1

I think a little concern I have is that I'm fixed on expecting Peter and Gwen to be the main focus of the film, while everything else (OsCorp, Harry, Electro) might feel background-y. I was expecting not much of a main focus, but a movie where Peter moves from one plot to another.

I obviously haven't seen the movie yet to see what it'll really feel like but I'm expecting it to feel like what I said above.

Most of the time, in the comics, the villain stuff always felt like it was in the background. The main plots were with Peter and Gwen, or Peter and Aunt May for example, then a villain gets in the way and he has to deal with his life as Peter and Spider-Man.

No but that review said there were cheesy moments and while negative it was fairly thorough and thought out. I can't discount it just because what I've seen has me amped.

Understood. I wasn't sure if there was something in particular that you had seen that made you think it might be too cheesy. It's still a Spider-man movie so I wouldn't be surprised if it did have some cheesy moments--either with some dialogue or maybe even some of the humor bits. Even Teekay, who thoroughly praised the movie said there were a few eye-rolling moments.

It wouldn't be Spider-Man without some cheese, but cheesyness can be super fun, if pulled off correctly especially with something like SPider-Man I saw SM1 on netflix again for the first time in like 6 years and it has aged pretty hard lol but some of that trademark Raimi 60's comic book style cheese really still makes me enjoy that film lol "We'll meet again Spider-Maaaan!!!" lol

Even the Avengers has cheese. "I'm ALWAYS angry!" C'mon, that wasn't cheesy? It was fun though and it worked in the movie.

There is plenty of reasons for people to be concerned about this film.

Let's not act like everything is A-ok. The movie seems to be hit or miss to a lot of people.

I didn't really have any concerns until the reviews started coming out. lol

Cmon we knew what was coming whether it be good or bad or the score on rt

Avengers in the overall is cheesy..

Why do people on here always feel the need to criticize other movies in order to elevate this one and make it's flaws disappear or at least fade slightly? I find it ironic how nit-picky people can about other movies, yet complain about people being nit-picky about this film.

That's honestly why Avengers is my fav cbm of all time despite it's flaws, I love that Whedon doesn't shy away from the comics, this movie seems to be adding some of that back into the fray, though TASM1 had some real comic booky stuff as well but they were doing a reboot so they tried to go a bit more darker and realistic, but it worked imo, this one seems to be bringing back just enough of the old school Spidey with the one liners and such, I'm excited man screw the critics.

No we didn't lol otherwise people wouldn't be so surprised with how it's been received thus far. At this rate it could score lower than the first one, it's been received worse than the first one thus far, only a handful of reviews have referred to it as an improvement.

no but most were already prepping either way

Lol, i didn't said that it made the film bad.. I'm sure i will like Tasm2,not gonna waste my time "promoting" it.

And yeah.. We have 15 good reviews and i think 4 bad ones .. and the film is gonna be bad..

alot of the points they made were very nit picky

I don't think that's very nitpicky. If Stacy does indeed have more scenes than the Rhino then it really questions whether it was a good idea to have Rhino in the film to begin with. That is a legitimate concern.

Don't we know for a fact that Captain Stacy appears briefly 2 times in the entire film while Rhino has 4 minutes of screentime?

The first 3 reviews from users in IMDB.

"A huge step up from the first "The Amazing Spiderman". The movie's visuals are stunning, and have some of the best fight scenes I personally have seen in a very long time. The relationship between Parker and Stacy is spectacular and is a driving force in the movie. Story did feel a little convoluted at times, and i would've also liked the movie to focus on itself rather than what is to come in the future. Electro and Harry play pivotal roles in the film and neither characters fail to deliver in their respective villainous parts. Though i did feel as though Harry was the main antagonist instead of electro, but i digress. The Amazing Spiderman is a thrilling, awe striking and gripping film which takes Peter and throws him on the pan of many troubles. Despite the minor problems i have with this film the film is unarguably an epic installment to the Spiderman franchise."

"Being not a fan of the spiderman movies - for me aimed at at kids and teenagers of which i am not - I found this movie to be a bit of an unexpected treat.

Viewed it last night at a 3d preview in edinburgh and what i worried might be a bum numbing 2 and a half hours actually flew by.

Don't want to give any spoilers or ruin any story but the whole pace of this film is much tighter than previous efforts and the tone can be quite dark at times. There is of course love interest but this added to the story and I actually bought into it and found myself caring for the characters, no mean feat for a cynic like me. Thankfully it didn't come across all teen/twilighty which seems to be the norm these days.

The villains are very good, Dane DeHaan in particular is exceptional (is it me or does he remind you of a young Leo di Caprio?) and gives a fantastically unnerving performance - big things beckon for him no mistake.

If you liked the previous Spiderman movies you'll still love this, If you didn't put any misgivings aside and give it a whirl (as i did). Either way definitely go and see this film, words I never thought I'd utter about a Spiderman movie. You Won't be disappointed.

As I said - no plot details and no spoilers, just an honest opinion of my film experience."

"Yesterday i watched the premiere of AMAZING SPIDERMAN 2, it was amazing. The Best Spiderman movie. The action is unbeatable, u have never seen better action than this. The chemistry between Peter and Gwen is lovable. U should watch it, i will watch it again on MAY 2 because its AMAZING. Amazing Spider-Man 2 seems more like an exercise in calculated franchise architecture than its does a cohesive stand-alone blockbuster. Andrew is perfect as Spiderman. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 seems to know exactly what it's doing. Webb's film is bold and bright and possesses charm in abundance. It swings into the future and carries the audience with it"

Is it really a concern? They both serve a different purpose in the film obviously, so I don't think it should be a problem. Rhino is there to set a lighter tone and give TASM2 bookends while hinting at what else is to come in future movies.

I have a feeling that the GA is going to give this film an easier time that "professional" critics. We'll see. :)

I'm sorry but I don't see what you're talking about. They're simply saying that sometimes a little cheese might not be a bad thing.

It's not just that, I see it happening with a ton of other films when it comes to issues that appear to plague this one. Like people saying TDK had a lot going on, sure it did, but it could handle it, a lot of people here can't seem to grasp the concept of execution.

Don't really trust IMDB. Full of trolls/idiots unlike here.
