So what killed Gwen is the impact of her head on the ground...dissapointed really...never wanted her death but i was accepting the web snap, but this.... can't believe they did that way.

It wasn't. She was caught inches from the ground but as the *snap* played at the same time to the uninitiated it would have looked as though she smacked her head.

Kind of. The force would've definitely broke her neck though so theres that. I think it maybe broke both, her neck and her "skull".

her head doesn't hit the ground but she ain't far from when he catches her...

To be blunt, Marvel and Sony Pictures have done exceptionally well, cramming as much thrills and superhero spills as they can in the 142 minute run time, but no overdoing as to totally leave the viewer wondering what is going on, or drawing out what in honesty is a simple, yet enjoyable plot. The ending may be one that fans weren’t expecting and certainly makes us itch for more and really makes us think which way will the series go now? In all, a great film that ousts it’s predecessors with Toby Maguire by a considerable amount and still makes us want to see as much of that red and blue costume as possible.

And as always, don’t leave the cinema until the end… there’s a small teaser for X-Men : Days of Future Past to entertain you.

So, will I need an inhaler during the last few moments of the film? Lol.

T
he villains were pretty badass. Jamie Foxx as Electro was pretty cool, both visually and aurally, although at times his persona of Max Dillon did seem a bit too hopeless, which was at times annoying. Maybe that’s just me being picky, but Dane DeHaan as Harry Osborn and Paul Giamatti in his brief cameo of The Rhino seemed far more solid as supervillains, despite the fact that Giamatti had at the beginning of the film a slightly ridiculous evil laugh that I picked up on. The film ended by setting up nicely for the Sinister Six spinoff film that Sony have recently announced, as well as The Amazing Spider-Man 3 that will be released sometime in spring 2016.

Director Marc Webb should be proud of what he has produced with both films in the series.

✮✮✮✮ for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 - A fun, anticipated, and greatly successful Spider-Man sequel. Perhaps even favourable to the first one in the series, if not for being a little long. Jam-packed with clever wit, sinister villains, and spandex suits, and featuring solid performances from the likes of Dane DeHaan, Andrew Garfield, and Emma Stone, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is definitely worth a trip to the cinema for Spidey, comic book, Marvel fans, and even regular citizens, alike.

Okay, just back and here's my thoughts.

- Gwen and Peter's relationship was great. Acting and chemistry was as we've come to expect. Possibly my favourite on screen romance.

- Some great little lines, love the Jack the Ripper bit.

- Most disappointed aspect was the action for me, maybe only considering Webb said there was a lot more of it. What is there is amazing and looks stunning, but there just wasn't enough for me. Both Electro fights were too short for me, although I will admit that might just be first viewing kind of experience.

- The scene with the doctor and the classical music was pretty terrible. Overly cartoony having the crazy European doctors with long rubber gloves along with the music. Worst blunder of the film, but Electro was great during the scene.

- For all the talks of it being over crowded, I don't think any of the villains were given as much attention as I would have liked. If you've watched all the trailers and clips, you've seen the Rhino scenes (pre suit and after) in their entirely. Harry was great, Electro was good. Actually as I'm typing this I'm starting to change my mind as there was a lot of Max scenes.

-Gwen's death was practically perfect. Cinema was dead silent. The whole goblin fight leading up to it was incredibly tense and the thud as she hit the ground made me wince. Garfield was brilliant. Her death was handled so well and it had the full impact it deserved.

- Leading on from that, the scenes after the death were great. Really the last hour of this was pretty special. The movie managed to be uplifting while not cheapening Gwen's death, at least in my opinion.

- I might have skipped the planes colliding thing, was just a little much for me. Vague but I think people will agree.

- The parents story went somewhere. I kind of feel like it's being used to differentiate from the Raimi movies but it was cool to see how it unfolded in this one, although it did drag on a bit.

- Spider-man talking/ quips very well done. As was almost all of the humour in the movie actually, audience was laughing out loud at a few bits.

- My favourite Spider-man movie, and most likely favourite CBM. Not going to concrete number one status but of all the CBMs I've seen this one had me wanting to go back and rewind to certain bits and those bits are very plentiful.

- Use of music during the movie was really great, except for that European crazy doctor bit I mentioned earlier.

I'm not much of a reviewer so I'll leave it at this last point.

- I really loved this movie. I watched all clips, trailers and featurettes and while that left me a little over spoiled action wise (Please stop giving away the final shots...) I still loved it and had a great time seeing how it all played out. I'd agree that it got a little muddled but the characters and 'moments' are what made this movie so great for me that I'll excuse little niggles I had with it. Ive loved Spider-man for a long time now and this movie was almost perfect in showing the character as I think he should be, with the suit and without. Out of five I'd give it a 4.5 as it's so close to being truly amazing but pacing and a few story annoyances let it down. Without a .5 I'd put it to a very solid 4.

Hope you guys all love it too

It seems to me that regardless if they are coming from RT critics or not, the reactions are OVERWHELMINGLY positive, so I sincerely doubt we are facing a Man of Steel scenario here. This film is going to get his fair share of love from the critics while getting some hate in between, staying at the 80s will maybe be tough on RT, but I sincerily doubt that a film that is getting this praised will get such a jaded reaction from professional movie critics.

Well.. i dunno who to belive, some people are saying that she hits her head on the ground and that killed her,i'm complaining why it needed to be that brutal? Why do that to Gwen?...

Off to see this film, back in a couple of hours.

Loved reading your impressions, thanks so much for them!

Out of curiosity, what did you think of the first TASM film?

@ThatFilmManiac 1m
I'll give full review later but to summarize THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 was superb with tiny flaws. It just wasn't outstanding because it <

> have the spark the first film had, and that's because most wasn't a shock or surprise because I saw so much in marketing.

What is this [BLACKOUT]planes colliding[/BLACKOUT] thing I keep hearing about?

Explained below...

During Electro's black out the airport guys can't tell the planes they're going to collide. There's a count down to when they're going to collide, SPidey and Gwen get the power going just in the nick of time kind of deal. It's cool, but I would have liked more focus on Spidey/ Electro action

What is this [BLACKOUT]planes colliding[/BLACKOUT] thing I keep hearing about?

due to electrical interference, Two planes are heading to colide until the power gets switched on and they swerve each other at the last moment. It was a silly scene

Believe me that doesn't happen, her head doesn't touch the ground

Her head does hit the ground.

Really certain it doesn't. Her hair does, but her head doesn't.

For those wondering, here's a really bad paint recreation of how the shot looked:

So The Amazing Spider-Man 2 was pretty good. Bit of a mess towards the end but it did a lot of things right too. Go see it with your eyes.
