Gotta love the patting on the back in this thread.

"Great review man"

Sorry, just makes me laugh. Cannot wait to see the movie to once again, probably witness that this is another one of those movies where there's a massive over exaggeration over its flaws.

here's the kicker that just made me slack jawed, as you said it shows all the various versions of all 4 seasons autumn with no leaves a snow storm, spring. we then cut to peters room and aunt may says its been 5 months

I thought I misheard that-! Yeah....overwrought and nonsensical.

The movie should have ended on a cliffhanger, like the comic. Spidey cradling Gwen's body and swearing revenge on the Goblin as he flies away cackling.

It was great to see that Spidey's number one priority was protecting New Yorkers, not slugging the villain. There were definitely some great rescue moments.

It was really the heart of the movie. That and him standing behind the kid in the Spidey costume. Lovely scenes.

Do people ever interview for university in the summer months after finishing high school?

I don't know whether this is a good or bad thing but I found Jamie Foxx's interpretation of a severely cliched nerd quite funny. I think it was the silliness of him that won me over and made me understand him. It made me sympathise with him.

The problem is there is just not enough time spent with him and I think that is why they took the cliche route, which is very lazy indeed. The took the cliched route so that they could convey the difference between Max and Electro making the time spent with Max unfortunately redundant.

I don't think that they could have done much with the Electro character. He was a very simple villain in the comics and from what i've heard, they embraced that. He was obviously chosen mainly for the spectacle. I haven't seen the movie yet, but i don't think that i'll have a problem with Max's character. If Max is indeed as cliched as most people say then i think it's for the best that they didn't spend much time with him, lol.

That bit was so corny.

I know the film needed some big positive to make up for the downer of Gwen's death, but there are more subtle ways to show Spidey inspires hope.

From your earlier posts before seeing this movie you never intended giving this movie a chance and are now loving dishing on it. By all means continue its amusing.
Not cool. Joker's just giving his honest opinion with elaboration. I'm confident he went in with an open mind, it's disrespectful to claim otherwise.

Batman Forever is a much better movie than Batman and Robin and it was well received in its time, great box office run of 330 million. People don't like it due to guilt by association with Batman and Robin.

It was good to see a movie, TASM 2, try and break the anti-cheese taboo, given that Batman Forever was actually successful.

That movie was never really remotely successful. Seriously, there are definitely reasons as to why alot of people love TASM 2 than batman forever.

I enjoyed parts of it. I gave credit where it was due.
Glad you enjoyed it then.

The only amusing thing is your bitter untrue assumptions. I went into the movie fully open minded wanting and hoping to love it.
Please most of your posts where negative before you even saw the movie. I don't believe you.

I didn't. I gave a through well backed up review explaining why. Now I'm discussing it with my fellow fans. But thanks for your endorsement. I fully intend to continue regularly.
In your opinion. I have read much better reviews from people equally disappointed yet did not sound so bitter.

If you take any more personal jabs at me like you did there, I'll report you.
Please do.:whatever:

Showing Spider-Man's concern for bystanders doesn't make the scene good. He did that in the Aleksi car chase at the beginning, too. In fact it's a general trope of the Spidey fight scenes.

It's not nearly enough to save that scene. Visually it's a great looking scene, with some great action. That's all it has going for it. Electro is a joke. The music is awful. And the slow motion stuff is so annoying.

I enjoyed the scene and did not think it was god awful. But I do agree the soundtrack was uninspiring. I loved the slow mo for that particular scene.

Wrong. The Police had shot at him several times already before Spidey even showed up. That's what makes him flip out and send all the Cop cars flying, which is when Spidey arrives.
He had calmed down at that stage and while Spider-man was talking with him. The sniper took the shot and he then blew up again.

Thanks man

the beginning was just a flawed scene. MOS was very flawed compared to this movie

I don't. And I wasn't being disrespectful.

What I really liked from this movie :

Peter and Gwen's chemistry.

Harry Osborne and Peter's playdate.

The scene where Peter is trying to figure out how to make his webs, shock resistant.

Times Square, was overall very cool and I enjoyed the spectacle. The 3D during that sequence was top notch.

Spider-Man jokes and is generally being the Spider-Man I know.

The montage where Spider-Man is saving different people.

The end fight between Electro and Spider-Man was very exciting and visually creative.

Green Goblin appearance. Even though it was very short lived.

The hand that forms in the webbing when Spider-Man tries to save Gwen was tasteful and beautiful at the same time.

Spider-Man when he finds Gwen has passed.

1960's reference.

The score was exceptionally bold and I really enjoyed it.

I guess to each their own. I liked it. Spider-man has always had a corny streak about him.

Glad you enjoyed it then.

Yeah I'm sure you are.

Please most of your posts where negative before you even saw the movie.

Of course they were because I didn't like most of what I saw and heard. I don't pretend to like something for the sake of it. But that didn't stop me from going in optimistic and open minded that the movie could surprise me and be great. It's happened before to nearly everyone. See a movie that looks awful and it turns out to be great.

I don't believe you.

I couldn't care less. It's the truth whether you believe it or not.

In your opinion. I have read much better reviews from people equally disappointed yet did not sound so bitter.

Name one thing I've said that sounds bitter. Go ahead.

Please do.

I will. Gladly.

I enjoyed the scene and did not think it was god awful. But I do agree the soundtrack was uninspiring. I loved the slow mo for that particular scene.

I didn't enjoy the scene, and do think on the whole it was awful. The slow mo was too drawn out.

He had calmed down at that stage and while Spider-man was talking with him. The sniper took the shot and he then blew up again.

I know that. The point is the Cops had been shooting at him before Spidey was even on the scene. It would be different if nobody had attacked him until Spider-Man came.

I don't. And I wasn't being disrespectful.

Yes you were. And one more remark like that and I'll have a Mod pull you into line.

LOL yea tell me about it , i don't know why i visit places like imdb. To be honest when it comes to CBM its problay one of the worst sites to go to. Are you going to see it again Evil, maybe this film will grow on me but as others have mentioned the tonal shift in this film is kinda all over the place. I gave it a 7/10 after the 2nd showing it could go either way.

i probably will see it again, only because my dad hasnt seen it yet. i had a day off yesterday and just thought sod it and went. did feel a little creepy going to a cmb on my own though got a few strange looks from the cinema staff lol

but i doubt my intial reaction will change i'll most likely spend the second viewing watching out for points others have made here

its not patting on the back, a well written review be it one you agree or disagree with deserves praise

there has been plenty of positive reviews for this film i have not agreed with but put forth theyre opinions in a well thought intelligent manor.

but i get the feeling you loved the film and dont like the idea that others did. am i wrong?

Stop with the bully boy treats and report if you must. It seems to be an MO of yours to threaten reports. This is a discussion forum with people of differing views. You have yours I have mine. If you don't want to debate the movie fine I'll ignore you. I probably should have done so after your ignorance on property prices in Manhattan even in the face of people living there telling you you were wrong.

Consider yourself ignored.

It's not a threat, it's a warning. You can discuss the movie with me as much as you like. Just drop the personal insults. In the space of two posts you've accused me of being a liar, and a close minded bitter fan who was determined to hate the movie.

And you accused me of being bitter. The irony.

I probably should have done so after your ignorance on property prices in Manhattan even in the face of people living there telling you you were wrong.

That was not even the argument at all.

Consider yourself ignored.

Suit yourself.

Okay. What were some good and bad points about the movie? How was Peter characterized? I heard from shadesatknightbthat he was being immature as peter but what is your tale on him?

SPOILERS AHEAD

The good:

- Andrew Garfield is excellent both as Pete and Spidey.

- Emma Stone gives a really good performence.

- Dane ****ing DeHaan. Just a all-around amazing performence. He's the best Harry Osborn we've ever gotten - he nailed the smugness.
I'm not sure yet about him being a better GG than Dafoe, though - I'll have to think about that.

- The cinematography. Easily the best looking Spider-Man film to date - anyone who says otherwise needs to stop watching movies... Jk. But, yes, the cinematography is excellent.

- The VFX. Electro and his abilities LOOK awesome. GG looks really creepy (in a good way) when he's flying around on his glider.

- Zimmer score. As of right now, it's not really my favourite Spidey score, but it is VERY good - waaaay better than a lot of other movies scores out there, say (TWS, IM2 and 3).

I'd say it's on par with The Avengers score.

- The sound design is really good (SFX, that is).

- [BLACKOUT]Gwen's death[/BLACKOUT] was very well done. Not excellent, but very good. [BLACKOUT]The funeral[/BLACKOUT] was great, as well.

- The "death" of the Parkers was surprisingly emotional.

The not-so-good:

- Electro's origin felt pretty rushed.

- Goblin's origin too.

- I didn't think I was gonna say this, but the movie compeltely lacks the intimacy and also some of the emotion from the first movie. It's all gone.

- I feel like the movie strayed a little too far from the first movie. Almost as if it forgot where it came from.

- Some of the tone-shifts could've been a little more gradual. They felt weird at one or two places.

- The movie never really... "Grabbed" me, the way the first movie did. It's hard to put in words.

- A loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooot of stuff from the trailers was cut and/or swapped. It's about as severe as with the first movie, if not worse. Having spoken to someone who's seen an alternative cut of ASM2, I'm VERY dissapointed in what the editor chose to swap/cut.

Verdict

To me, ASM2 is about as good as the first movie (which I really like), but unfortunately for very different reasons, which saddens me a little.

Essentially, the FX and cinematography was amazing, but the movie simply lacks heart.

Right now, I can't express how much I hope the U.S gets a different version. It's unlikely, yes, but I can't shake the feeling.

Still, 8.0/10.

Where would you rank Electro among other Spidey movie villains?

Visually, he's without a doubt the coolest Spidey movie villain. Ever.

Unfortunately, he's only decently written. On par with Spider-Man 3's Sandman, I'd say.

Maybe you should rewatch it. I've read in a lot of reviews that the movie did have heart.
