I liked the movie but at the same time i have to say it was all over the place. imagining there was also the Mary Jane Storyline for a while it would have been a real mess.

Yeah, I couldn't imagine how packed and how much of a mess this film would have been if they kept the Shailene Woodley Mary Jane scenes in. There's simply TOO MUCH going on. Imagine if it was left in:

Peter dealing with post-graduation life, a complicated relationship with Gwen Stacy, him seeing Captain Stacey frequently reminding him of a promise he made to stay away for her safety, his continued patrolling of the city as Spidey and balancing that life, the return of an old friend Harry Osborn, the rise of Electro who might be more powerful than Spider-Man, Peter's relationship with Aunt May, the mystery of his parents’ decade-old disappearance, Rhino, Sinister Six set-up, Felicia Hardy, Daily Bugle setup PLUS Mary Jane scenes and Peter meeting her for the first time.

DAMN! ANYTHING I MISSED? LOL... I simply think Marc Webb shot too much and didn't know what to do with it and threw all his eggs in one basket with this film and tried to please too many people, plus there are a lot things that are in the trailer not in the film and people who have seen rough cuts saying scenes have been replaced entirely. I'm fine with MJ, Daily Bugle, Jameson, Felicia Hardy, the Osborn's etc being in TASM3, but I really hope the story is more streamlined and focused.

I have a question for you guys

In your opinion, who is more responsible for Gwen's death? Harry or Peter? Or is the responsibility split 50/50. And do you think we will see the test screening cut of her death on Blu Ray?

Gwen herself and Harry. She insisted helping Peter turn on the Oscorp power grid again which resulted in Harry seeing them both, revealing Spideys identity to him & causing the whole Gwen fight. Peter couldn't safe her, so the responsibility is shared between Harry for causing her death by preventing Spidey from rescuing her in time and Gwen for being there in the first place. You could maybe say Peter was responsible too for shooting the webline instead of trying to reach her by web-pulling himself (if that was possible, the distance was quite big so I'm not sure he would've reached her in time if he catapulted himself down there).

Are we all agreed that, speaking specifically of the portrayal of the title character himself, this is the best movie depiction of Spider-Man?

It makes Tobey Maguire's Spidey look like a humourless mute.

Any version of Spider-Man makes Maguire's Spidey a humorless mute. He was a fine Parker, minus intelligence, but his Parker was his Spider-Man. He was a socially awkward and uncomfortable Spider-Man.

This scene is certainly not in the movie.

Exactly. Garfield is the best Spider-Man by default as he is the only one who has really played him.

Saw the movie today. It was a let down. It had nothing to do with the first movie(Which I like).
At this point it seems to me that they plan their movies according to trends. When they did the first one the popular choice was the dark knight and now they tried the avengers approach(which is the similar tone to the Raimi Spider-man).
The plot didn't flow for me and a lot of things just happened.
Electro was had no real motivation. The Peter - Harry friendship never develops for the viewer and the foreshadowing for the climax of the movie is all over the place.
And don't get me started on Dr.Kafka...

A lot of the same complaints I have. Did you enjoy the Peter/Gwen relationship though?

[BLACKOUT]I feel as if it was maybe 80% Harry's fault, 20% Pete's. What do you mean "test screening cut" of her death, though? She gets sher neck snapped in both versions[/BLACKOUT]

In the test screening cut, Harry goes and snaps Gwen's neck in front of Peter. Peter then nearly kills Harry. Teekay told us this when he saw the rough cut.

[BLACKOUT]Oh? I didn't remember TeeKay mentioning that. I suppose I must've missed it because I've been avoiding spoilers until I saw the movie. I'll ask him more about it.[/BLACKOUT]

I have a feeling that it was cut due to violence. It's very hard to get past the MPAA without an R rating, so perhaps we'll get that in an alternate director's cut?

Oh man, I hope we'll get a Director's Cut and that it'll be similar to the cut TeeKay saw.

It's ridiculous how much was cut from the version I saw.

Even Spider-man 3 the game version makes him look like a humorless mute, which is funny when the game version is based on him.

I have never seen such polarity in reviews for a movie, some love it, some just hate. Making my head hurt! I guess I'll have to judge for myself.

I can imagine the editing room...

Webb: I shot loads of stuff...I hope we can get it all in.

Sony: If it's not expensive CGI scenes of destruction or setting up the Sinister Six, it ain't going in.

Webb: Can we at least have my beloved improv scenes of Andrew and Emma?

Sony: Okay.

could you tell us what was cut that you saw in your version?

or maybe a link if you already talked about it.

well then you didn`t see the Man of steel reviews :D

This was my biggest problem with those Raimi films (aside from greatly disliking Dunst as MJ).

Tobey didn't even play Peter right, but I could overlook it because he always was a major dweeb in his early days. Then he gets in the costume and doesn't really say anything quippy or clever, doesn't fight like a proper Spidey (Spidey ain't no boxer), and probably spends more time with the mask off than on. I hate that whole "Spider-man No More" subplot too. Web-shooting performance anxiety? Really?

Andrew Garfield handles EVERY aspect of the character better than Tobey. Just as Gwen plays a far more believable (and talented) love interest. Field and Sheen are much more enjoyable as Aunt May and Uncle Ben also. The only person I'm honestly going to miss in this franchise is JK Simmons as Jameson.

Lawl, I'd imagine it even worse.

They cut out loads of expensive action stuff, as well.

anyway one thing i don´t remember:
[BLACKOUT] What happened to Meken?[/BLACKOUT]

So glad this is not in the movie. The scene they went for with is probably a million times more intense.

@!Superman!

A whole lot, sadly.

Off the top of my head:

Cut:

- The scene at Oscorp with Harry telling Peter he's beeing watched.

- The infamous after credit scene with Norman's head in a cryogenic chamber.

- Harry attacking Oscorp with his glider.

Swapped:

- Harry snapping Gwen's neck in front of Peter.

- Peter beating the **** out of Harry for it.

- Electro overcharging, being webbed up, and thrown into Hudson with Spidey saying "you gave me no choice, Max" or something like that.

There's a lot more minor stuff, but I can't remember the exact scenes right now.
