Superman Returns The American Way?

Let's cut it short: the AMERICAN WAY that Superman represents its NOT what Bush is doing right now.

Better now?

If you didn't vote for him, then I suppose that would be true. For me though, Bush shares most of the values I do, and while I dissagree with how he's been handling Iraq, I'll take my chances with him rather than suffer a liberal democrat president.

But you're missing the point that the reason it was defined was to point out that "The American Way" isn't an American political mission but it actually represents civil liberties and freedom for all people everywhere.

But that's my point - how can 'the American Way' represent civil liberties and freedom for all people everywhere? (i.e, if they're not even American)

I'm British and I enjoy the same basic civil liberties and freedom, does that mean i'm living 'the British Way?'

Again, America hasn't got copyright over these ideals.

Consider that the civil liberties, freedoms, democratic princibles, the right of a people to govern themselves, etc., of America were created and instituted when England was still a monarchy.

Does that give us a global monoploy on the concept today, no, but does it give us some reason to be inordinately proud of the phrase in question, yes.

And you have an admirable traditional British Way, to face adversity with calm determination, to keep a "stiff upper lip" as it were, to carry on thru tough times with aplomb, to "Be British".

Tho just as American's have no copyright on civil liberties today the qualities of "Being British" are also shared by many peoples. That doesn't invalidate the coloquil use of the phrase, does it?

The liberal/republican paradigm doesn't exist. You're buying into a fake fight, much like the WWF is fake. The players have their fans and their favorite moves, but behind closed doors it's all a joke.

What, FOX news?!

Well, no point in arguing with someone who can't open their eyes.

That's right Fox News doesn't present "both" sides of the argument. Yet the predomintely left-wing leaning CNN, CBS, ABC, NBC, MSNBC, MTV, and the BBC present "fair and balanced" news....(sarcasm off)

And you think that was because of 'liberals', or the actions of a few conservatives...?

The fact that Liberal Democrats are leaning so far to the left, is it any wonder why the term "Liberal" is a dirty word?

The lefts spokmen are:

Howard Dean
Nancy Pelosi
Teddy Kennedy
Michael Moore
Cindy Sheehan
The New York Times
Hollywood Celebs

Becuase America has fought for people everywhere and their freedom and liberty....ie WW1 WW2 Korea Cold War. Its protected and promoted it much like Superman does.
