Inhumans The Anson Mount is Black Bolt Thread

I remember the ending of Chronicles of Riddick and kept thinking how it's reminiscent of Black Bolt sitting ominously on his throne.

I don't really want vin or Keanu. Couldn't they find a more classic kind of actor like Colin firth?

I don't think a "talky" kind of dramatic actor would want this role, or be cast for it. Has to be the strong, silent type. And/or someone who's a lot better in movies when they don't have to talk at all.

So yeah....Vin Diesel. :oldrazz:

Haha,

Seriously though I think many actors would relish the chance to have to emote without any lines at all. I mean think about how iconic the silent film industry was

I can't wait to see blackbolt flying around. Then finally see him speak. The cinema better explode when he talks. I'm talking speakers popping and glasses breaking THX type of sound.

I'm not sure how Vin will do here but I think the deal might already be done.

It makes a lot of sense. They definitely should reuse him. Much like they should reuse adewale akinnuoye-agbaje (for T'Chaka?) and maybe even Bradley Cooper at some point.

why not go with bradley instead?

So people are complaining about Vin being "too wooden" to play BB, and yet they want the world's most famous plank of wood Keanu Reeves to play him instead? Riiiigght.

That better be an intended pun. :whatever:
But that isn't a fair defense to argue why Diesel should get the part just because another suggestion is worse.

Agreed. Hopefully they get someone who is good with facial expressions (I'm assuming BB won't have the mask on much...if at all) and body language.

Keanu is going to be the Beyonder.
You heard it here first.

Unorthodox choice, but I think someone Ken Watanabe would be cool (I got this from someone suggesting him for the Ancient One in Doctor Strange).

I don't know much about Black Bolt, but the idea of Vin Diesel using his voice on a CGI character and physically portraying another character who never speaks sounds pretty cool to me.

Not a fan of Diesel as BB. Im looking for someone who expresses an air of regalness and is expressive yet stoic. Whoever they get also needs to have incredible chemistry with the actress they cast as Medusa.

Black Bolt is up there with Silver Surfer for me, one of my favorite characters. I agree though, his powers will be hard to translate on screen.

He's one character I would hate to see get nerfed.

Wait a sec Blackbolt's powers are hard to translate??? How? His powers are easy. If they could do the Silver Surfer and Superman, Cyclops and Thor and the entire GOTG movie they can do him easily.

One tricky thing about Black Bolt is that he has, in my opinion, one of the coolest costumes in the Marvel Comics roster, but also one that I can't imagine easily converting to film. And I'm usually quite an advocate for "Just translate the costume as faithfully as possible." It's difficult, as such a costume could easily look terrible in live action, but at the same time if you adapt it into something more generic I fear it just wouldn't be Black Bolt. Is the best approach to out-there material like The Inhumans just to lean into it and embrace the weirdness, going all-out with the strange names, powers and, yes, costumes?

I'm pro-literal translation as well. I think BB's costume would look similar to Banshee's from X-Men First Class; which I didn't think looked bad at all.

You joke, but I wouldn't mind that. It'd be similar to his role in "The Day The Earth Stood Still."

same, i think it's pretty cool idea. he certainly has the build

I don't like Diesel at all for Black Bolt. He doesn't fit the character.

Good description of what I'd ideally like. Not sure who to suggest for it though. Don't think it needs an A lister.

I hope they give Blackbolt communicates with sign language Like Caesar in Planet of the Apes.

Vin Diesel for Black Bolt!!!

How about something like the one on the right?

The one on the right looks kind of good. But also kind of cow-y. The tuning fork is going to be pretty hard.

I think the one on the right is a start in the right direction if they're going for a more armored look. The outfits should definitely be a mixture of human and Kree influences.

I have a feeling that they are going to need an actor with a strong acting pedigree to anchor this film and bring a sense of regality to this role without speaking a word. I would like to see someone along the lines of Jude Law, Ewan Mcgregor, or Johnny Lee Miller.
