Infinity War The Avengers: Infinity War Part I & II The Official News and Speculatio - Part 6

This season AOS averaged a little over 2 million viewers per episode. That puts it squarely in CW territory, if not lower. In contrast, AOU sold 56 million tickets in North America, The Avengers sold 76 million, CW sold 46 million. AOS's ever-diminishing viewership is nothing compared to the pop culture saturation attained by the MCU films.
.
Agents of SHIELD is more widely available given it is broadcast on television. It wouldn't be hard for someone to catch up before seeing Infinity War.

You keep saying that but nobody is gonna make a movie where you have to watch four seasons of a TV show beforehand just to see it unless it's an actual continuation of said series. That's a ludicrous time commitment given you're already being asked to be familiar with the prior movies.

Honestly, at this point everyone needs to accept that others aren't going to be convinced.

I think viewership numbers don't matter much. It's a question of whether the movie audience is capable of accepting the characters on screen, not whether they would have watched the characters previously. Any movie cameo isn't going to require you to have watched all four seasons to understand. Ideally, it'll be something the TV-viewing audience would appreciate while the movie audience just sees as characters in the story. I'd also suggest that many would be capable of figuring out that they're characters from the TV show, having seen a commercial or advertisement previously, even if they don't watch the show.

To me, including stuff from the TV side of things is no different than making comics references. Do you think [blackout]having the original Guardians of the Galaxy[/blackout] in GOTG2 is something the movie audience understood? Absolutely not. But it didn't take people out of the movie and those who were familiar with what was being referenced understood and appreciated it.

^I mean the Easter egg was part of the GOTG mythos while AOS are mostly characters made for the show. When it comes to Marvel history these things aren't comparable.

AOS doesn't do so hot in live ratings, but it performs extremely well in Live + 7, a key reason it is coming back for a 5th season. This year it surpassed The Incredible Hulk as Marvel's longest lasting live action television series.

But that's neither here nor there. Fans of AOS want the show to be referenced because the film has been described by Feige as a celebration of the first three phases of the MCU. And AOS and the Netflix shows deserve an invitation to the party.

As a longtime - 40 years and counting! - reader of Marvel comics, I love the books that show how rich the universe truly is and I would like the movies to do the same. A brief cameo from some of the TV folks and I will be satisfied.

Difficult to read, if it is all about AOS...

Can`t you stop this please... "nobody" needs AOS...

By the way... Chris Hemsworth was today at Monaco for the Formula One race...

Speak for yourself. As long as people are badmouthing one of the most consistent comic book shows people are gonna defend it. It's natural and logical.

I like Agents of SHIELD, but there doesn't need to be any appearances from any of them in the Infinity War movie. It's 100% likely that there will be a total of zero TV characters in either Avengers movie.

If they do put in the TV characters the Defenders are the ones people want to see anyway.

It isn't that ridiculous. You don't have to watch every episode to find out how Coulson was brought back to life. It's revealed in the first season.

None of the tv characters are gonna show up in IW, it's just that some people haven't accepted it yet. And then afer IW they will speculate if it will happen in Avengers 4 which won't happen there either and after that people will finally come to terms with it and will enjoy the shows regardless.

the most likely crossover is Robbie Reyes Ghost Rider having his own Netflix series, but even then that would cause a lot of questions.

So.....what does everyone think will be the next official piece of news to drop about this movie? Would be nice to talk about something else other than AOS for a change :whatever:

Feels terrible that we're likely gonna have to wait until at least October for a trailer or poster. :csad:

Maybe just more of 'Insert actor is on set for Infinity War' photo.

What else is there to say at this point? We know the synopsis and a basic idea of who will be in it. Only thing to wait for now would be Comic Con.

Uh Comic con and D23 is in less than 2 months.

Well AoS established that Johnny Blaze exist and gave Reyes the abilities. I have a feeling a Netflix series would center around the more popular Blaze. Reyes would show up every now and then.

Daisy Johnson and Yo-Yo Rodgriguez are from Secret Warriors. Robbie Reyes is Ghost Rider. That's assuming you don't count obscure comics characters (e.g., Alphonso MacKenzie) as comics characters.

That's because there's nothing really to talk about. Discussing the hypothetical merits of these characters appearing in movies (which is different from expecting them to) is more productive than any other non-news around.

By the way... Chris Hemsworth was today at Monaco for the Formula One race...

Case in point.

Can`t you stop this please... "nobody" needs AOS...

Nobody "needs" anything. It doesn't mean it wouldn't be a nice Easter Egg to have to reward hardcore fans.

Given that I think they'll still be filming IW by then, I get the feeling that Thor 3 and Black Panther will be the bigger focus when it comes to trailers and panels.

Sneak peek footage at Comic-Con and D23 typically doesn't get released to the public, correct?

You're looking at this backwards. The onus is not on the viewer, it's on the studio. Their job is no make an Infinity War movie that the maximum number of people can enjoy and will want to see. Their incentive to punctuate the movie with a Coulson reveal and/or force the audience to watch episodes of Agents of SHIELD beforehand is simply non-existent. They have absolutely no reason to do what you want to them to do, which is why they're not going to do it.

That's a bingo!
