My guess is that like with the Tesseract, they didn't intend for the Aether to be an Infinity Stone when they were first working on the movie. If it weren't for the offhanded line where Odin mentions the other stones and then the post-credits stinger, you'd have no idea that weird mass of red goop is supposed to be an Infinity Gem.

After watching AoU again the ending has really got me pumped for Civil War and these IW films. The new team looks really interesting.

I don't think they didn't know that it was going to be an infinity stone as Odin refers to the other stones in the very next sentence when he keeps describing the Aether. It's certainly possible that the dark elves did have something to do with it's creation since they are said to be from before our universe, which makes them fairly unique. And of course it's very likely that he doesn't have full knowledge of what happened, since no one could really be sure what happened before this universe if you are from it.

I can't wait for more of the new team either. I can't wait to see Civil War for several reasons, but that's one of them

I'm excited to see Earths geniuses interact. You have Stephen Strange, T'Challa, Tony Stark, Bruce Banner, Hank Pym, and even Scott Lang too a degree. All these great minds, something great is bound to happen.

Eh, I'd remove Scott Lang from that list. He's smart no doubt, but he's not THAT smart. Honestly, Jane Foster, Helen Cho, and Erik Selvig all fit better on that list than Scott does. Heck even Hope van Dyne as well probably.

Yeah, those characters do make more sense

BTW, I do hope that the whole "Avengers support staff" thing from AOU isn't just dropped post-CW. That's a cool idea and I'd like to see them do more with it.

Slashfilm posted this today. Check out Feige's death glare to Latcham at 4:08 when he asks a reporter which of the two MCU gauntlets he thinks is "the real one":

Interestingly I don't think either Stellan Skarsgard or Claudia Kim have been reported to be in Civil War yet. Do we know if Cobie Smulders is returning?

Scott Lang is smart like, street smart. He knows about security systems and how to break into places. As far as fighting Thanos, he'd think of a way to find a weak spot or something.

No need for them there really.

I really wouldn't want Selvig to be in CW TBH. I see him as a Thor character and he should stay that way. I'd totally be cool to see Helen Cho again, though.

I know I'm gonna cry when part 2 ends. :(
I truly hope it ends in a shot with all the heroes together, or if Marvel has the guts to kill off an big MCU player possibly them all paying respects to the deceased heroes.

I think Adam Warlock will be in Guardians 2 and he will have the large soul stone in the centre of thanos's gauntlet, as a necklace. The time gem will be in Dr Strange.

Apparently the Russos are reading Hickman's recent Thanos related stuff for research.

I like how you chose to leave out the fact that they're also reading Starlin stuff as well, not just Hickman.

"I was in an Infinity War meeting with the Russos earlier today and there are really old Starlin stuff, there's really new Hickman stuff, there's all kinds of stuff sitting on this table," Latcham said.

I really don't care either way. I thought Starlin influence to some degree would be a given.
