I'm no expert on Thor comics, but I was talking to a Thor fan who really liked how quickly he took down the destroyer in the movie because he said that's how it usually goes in the comics. Is that not true?
It's not true (well, only if your friend was pointing out at JMS' run). In the early Kirby/Jurgens runs it took about 2 or 3 issues for Thor to take down the Destroyer.

For me, the fact that the destroyer was defeated so easily made thor look awesome and powerful. I didnt mind

:csad:
One of these days I'll have an avatar of my own...

Back in the day, Thor's battles with the Destroyer went on forever and resulted in a lot of collateral damage. The Destroyer was usually (always?) animated by the life force of an Asgardian, which gave it insane levels of power. Typically Thor would battle it across a swath of territory in New York or Asgard before it was either defeated or the armor was depowered. That sort of battle would have been terrific in Thor, but I guess they wanted to emphasize the Thor/Loki battle instead.

Thanos didn't go "toe to toe" with Odin, he was pretty much beaten senseless he only survived because of his pact with Death. Also his "one shotting" of Thor wasn't all that impressive either since he merely froze him, it's not like he knocked Thor out with a punch.

Now I'm NOT saying Thor is tougher than Thanos because he isn't, but their natural power levels aren't nearly as far apart as people think (Thor would put up a good fight).

He hung with Odin long enough that they started to destroy Asgard because of the amount of energy they were using. And that fight was before Death gave him a power up wasn't it?

And no seriously, Thanos is waaaay above Thor. Thor couldn't do more than cause him a nose bleed, and he had Warriors Madness and the Power Gem.

It is a cool avatar, but does it remind anyone else of Iron Patriot a bit?

Nope, very wrong. Thanos had the power up already and he wasn't exactly 'hanging' with Odin. He( and SS, Drax) was being kicked around Asgard By Odin ( after He summoned Gungnir). Finally, he was on his knees, shaking when Sif and BRB interrupted the fight.

Second, Thanos is not waay above Thor. None of their fights displayed that superiority. Even a weaker, mortal version of Thor was capable of stunning and temporaly knocking Thanos( with the infinity gauntlet) down during the IG.

Just start posting like crazy and you'll get one before you know it. :word:

Haha, I'm doing the best I can to become a regular ;) I like it a lot here and plan on being here for a while.

Technically Thor shouldn't have that much of a problem with Thanos unless he obtains some supernatural weaponry. But I know writers have to find ways around that.

Odin one shotted Surfer and Drax. Thanos and Odin then had a dragged out fight which was destroying Asgard. Yea Odin won, but he even payed respects to Thanos afterwards.

Thanos is way above Thor. In the same event i'm talking about, Blood and Thunder, Thor was about 100x stronger than he usually is. All he could do to Thanos was give him a bloody nose. And that was an event centred around Thor, he isn't going to be jobbed out in his event.

Point is, Thanos is closer to Odin's level than Thor's.

No seriously, Thor is no where near Thanos' level. Whether he has a weapon or not.

Thanos with IG is omnipotent and he could blink the Avengers out of existence.

Thanos without IG could still hand the Avengers their asses.

This is all going by the comics though, which is moot for the movies as everyone is at different power levels.

Amazing indeed.

It is amazing. I never even thought about that sequence in Iron Man being all CGI until I saw a behind the scenes piece about it. The CGI for both Iron Man movies was so flawless that the viewer was never jolted out of the movie by the realization that the suit was computer generated.

When I was a kid I always thought that Iron Man would be visually stunning on film, and Marvel/ILM proved that to be so.

The secret is to post meaningful posts without looking like your post spamming though.

In 14 minutes - they'll be showing an exclusive 6-min. Avengers preview at that Italian comics convention.

Meanwhile, Adi Granov was doing a commission of Iron Man to promote the movie.

Chances of seeing any leaked footage would be around what RIM?
