I don't know how anyone can like Ironman's score, that is the worst comic book movie score that I have ever heard in my life, well the worst one from a major comic book movie that is.

Here's a funny story....there was a poster at the SHH who liked a movie that many many others didn't. Everytime they said something bad about the movie he liked...he jumped immediately in to tell them they were wrong or to say shut up. He just could not understand why people would continue to say bad things about the movie he liked. He would say things like "Have you nothing better to do than to take shots at the movie I like!!! Can't you just say nothing at all instead of going out of your way to make bad comments about a movie you don't like...because others could like it and your comments could upset them."

And yet he went into other forums to make comments about how bad those other movies were and in doing so made the fans of those movies sad too.

Isn't that a funny story......

Epic Win.

Also, did you get my PM about the Doc Savage film?

Funny yet sad.

I really hope Silverstri will have a good signature score for each of the Avengers, or at least one for the whole team when they finally "assemble".
Yeah like in Lord of the Rings when the Fellowship came together and started their adventure. Howard Shore for example was building up to that big moment early in the movie. Shore was really good at making different themes and amplifying them and re-using them where appropriate.

Also, I don't think Iron Man's score was terrible. There were some cues I thought were decent, there just wasn't enough of them and it wasn't big enough to me. I liked the instrumental version of Black Sabbath's Iron Man at the end credits.

The Lord of the rings has the best music in any blockbuster movie ever. Pirates of the caribbean has great music too. Whether you like the movies or not

It's very sad.

One might even say S.A.D.

That's an outdated and crappy joke that caucasians would normally make at my expense, if you are a caucasian person then I suggest that you come up with new material for effs sakes. Also, try harder when you're trying to be funny. :whatever:

Why go through all that trouble saying that when you could have just said something that is short and to the point? Did I hit a nerve when I talked down to the score from the Ironman movie? Really, I'm not sure wether you took what I said very personally or not.

WTF does race have to do with it?

Silvestri's Cap score is probably my favourite Marvel movie score. I just hope he creates a truly iconic score for the Avengers. Something on the same level as Burton's Batman or Williams Superman. Because in all honesty I don't think any superhero movie has had a score like those since. You could maybe throw Zimmer's Joker theme or Burton's Spider-Man in there.

I'm definitely, positively, certainly, unequivocally, precisely and exactly sure Danny elfman wrote the score to those two. :cmad:

Can't say that I'm jumping with joy that Silvestri's scoring this. I wasn't really that impressed by his CA:TFA score. I'll just copy and paste my thoughts about this score from another thread.

Silvestri's CA:TFA score was good, but not great. It's not as amazing as some make it out to be. He just wrote a better GIJOE score than his actual score to GIJOE:ROC.

I'll admit he wrote a good theme that fits the character, but he couldn't really do much with it besides playing it "heroic", "triumphant", and "patriotic". A good theme is something that can do many things. He should be able to turn the theme on it's head , inside and out. he should've been able to do more with it. A good theme should be more than just catchy, imo.

The score also lacks themes. There should've been a love theme for Steve and Peggy. I know the romance in the film was underdevoloped but still. Red Skull didn't have a theme either. Which is a shame b/c I can picture him having a dark, menacing and haunting theme. How does Cap have a theme but his nemesis doesn't. That's like giving Luke Skywalker a theme but not Darth Vader. Imagine that. The Hydra also didn't have a theme. They deserved a theme too. Since that's what Cap's up against most of the movie. Hydra definitely deserves something along the lines of Williams' Imperial March. The Cosmic Cube didn't have a theme either. The cube definitely deserved a theme since it's the main focus in the upcoming Avengers movie. If Silvestri had given it a theme he could've used it for the Avengers (since he's rumored to be scoring it). The Cosmic Cube needs a theme along the lines of the Ark (from Williams' Raiders score) and the amulet (from Broughton's The Monster Squad score) theme. A lot of missed opportunities.

The score also doesn't sound like something from the 40s, imo. Sure it's old fashioned (meaning big orchestral score with hardly any synthesisers). But it's not something that sounds like it came from old serials, imo. The only cues that did sound like something that captured that time period were Silvestri's "Captain America March" and Menken's "Star Spangled Man".

Johnston also mentioned that CA:TFA was going to be in the vein of Raiders. Both the score and film didn't live up to it, imo. I know it's hard to write a score that could match up with Williams' Raiders. But still. I don't even think the Silvestri's score matches up with Horner's Rocketeer score or Edward Shearmur's Sky captain &TWOT score either.

For those that think that Silvestri's CA:TFA score stands up with Williams' Superman and Elfman's Batman score. How ? B/c he wrote a catchy theme which Silvestri didn't do much with besides being "heroic", "patriotic", and "triumphant". The score didn't feel like it was a character of it's own in the film like Williams' Superman and Elfman's Batman score did. I don't ever think the film wouldn't have been as effective without Silvestri's score. I think his score was serviceable at best.

Now I don't hate the score. I think the action writing is good eventhough it's in the same vein of his GIJOE and A-team action writing. It's probably up there with his Beowulf score ( which I also think could've been better). It's better than a lot his scores in the last few years. But it's nowhere near his best or great scores, imo. It's just good but could've been a lot better.

The good thing about this is that he has enough time to score this. Instead of 7 weeks (I believe) he had to score CA:TFA. I think that also played a factor into why that score (to me) wasn't as great as it could've been. It kind of feels like he was too focused on reaching the deadline. And only succeeding with giving Cap a big theme and writing a score that's serviceable for the film.

Maybe I'm missing something, but... what the hell is this? hahahahaha :lmao:

I agree that whilst I think CA:TFA & Thor had the best scores of the Marvel movies(along with Punisher'04's), no superhero scores to date have reached the level of the Elfman Batman score let alone the virtual perfection of Williams's Superman score. Giaccino's Incredibles score & Newton Howard's Unbreakable score probably come in just behind those top two for me and after that stuff like Thor, Punisher'04, CA:TFA & The Rocketeer's scores. Then come the Iron Man scores, the Hulk scores the Nolan Batman scores & the Spidey & X-Men scores.

Yeah like in Lord of the Rings when the Fellowship came together and started their adventure. Howard Shore for example was building up to that big moment early in the movie. Shore was really good at making different themes and amplifying them and re-using them where appropriate.
Shore's music for LOTR was outstanding. He actually introduced the Gondor theme, which would not be featured prominently until the third movie, all the way back in FOTR during Boromir's speech at the Council of Elrond. It just goes to show how deeply involved in the process Shore was; he was brought on to begin developing the music for the entire trilogy long before they'd even finished filming, IIRC.

Why go through all that trouble saying that when you could have just said something that is short and to the point?
Because it got your and everyone elses attention.
It was funny.
And yet sad too.
It was a true story that needed telling.
Twas no trouble at all.
Sometimes I just feel like being verbose.

Did I hit a nerve when I talked down to the score from the Ironman movie?
Nope....personally I don't remember the score at all. I feel no compunction to defend nor attack anyone's opinion about a movie. I just made that post while quoting you because I had just at that time came from the Green Lantern DVD thread where someone had made a comment against GL and you had replied to that by quoting him and saying Put a lid on it. So I thought it was funny that you were yet again taking umbrage at someone saying they disliked GL...but yet you feel no problem with complaining about some other movie that someone else on here surely likes. I just felt like pointing that discrepancy out.

Really, I'm not sure wether you took what I said very personally or not.
Rest assured you oh not too H.A.A.P.Y. fellow...this old caucasian didn't take what you said as even slightly personally......

And I understand if it can't be as good, but ideally I wish they could do stuff like this with Avengers. I want big epic themes. I want stuff I'm going to remember and hum for months on end.

As much as I enjoy and appreciate both scores. I can't wait when the day comes when people stop saying that.
