The amount of people that would have seen a screening by now, I am amazed a name of the aliens hasn't leaked.... so much so I am willing to bet that they are not named on screen at all.

Still that's only 15 minutes. It's a half hour longer than X-Men 3, and 5 minutes longer than First Class, which was a very long feeling film overall.

Make the best with what we have, which is over 2 hours thankfully.

Now, we know Hemsworth is tall, probably around 6'4, he seems taller than 6'3. But, Loki, Tom Hiddleston, did anyone have any idea that Tom was this tall???

I mean, I noticed in the set pics he seems to tower over some of the avengers, but damn.

Are people really complaining? 2 hours and 15 minutes is fine by me. Don't want it to be too long now...

And that 3 hour cut intrigues me...maybe one day in a 10th anniversary edition or something.

2hr 15min is longer than any of the OT Star Wars movies

I certainly hope no one complains about that runtime

Also keep in mind that we've all seen about a maximum of FIVE MINUTES, with trailer/sneak peeks/private scene showing combined, of footage of the entire film. And for those of you who read the storybook, that probably a summary of at max the first hour of the movie.

There's still so much of this movie that we don't know about, and we're very lucky to have 2 hours and 15 minutes worth.

I want to see Thor vs Loki, where Thor doesn't completely own Loki in 2 seconds.

Thor didn't own Loki in 2 seconds in THOR either, it seemed pretty close due to Thor holding back and Loki having a MUCH more efficient weapon (6 foot spear >>> 2 foot hammer).

That's a vain hope because you know it's coming. :whatever:

When you add in the titles, credits and (possible) after-credits sequence, 2 hours 15 minutes meshes with what we've heard about the film's total runtime of 145 minutes. Maybe some thought that all 145 minutes would be story content, but that's ridiculous.

I wish the studio had allowed Whedon to use the song he chose for one of the Stark Towers scenes with Tony. Haven't heard this song in years, since they drove the students out of the campus radio station, but it would have been perfect.

OMG that song makes my body melt......

First time hearing it. Marvel should have let him use that.

Two hours and fifteen minutes probably doesn't include the end credits so that's a pretty healthy running time.

To put that into perspective, that's longer than Batman Begins by five minutes, longer than both Iron Man films by seventeen or eighteen minutes, longer than Captain America by twenty one minutes, longer than Thor by thirty minutes (all of these are without end credits).

It would have set the scene perfectly. But it can cost millions to clear a song for use in a film, no matter how old and semi-obscure. They should have asked Stevie, though. He's cool. :word:

Oh my God...even at 5'5 I'd be dwarfed by Tom's height. I'd be like an elf compared to him. I'd have to carry a stepping stool with me just to be on his level height wise.

I am happy with 2 hours 15 minutes. As long as that's the run time for the actual film, not including credits and after credit scenes, which can take up to 10 minutes.

In this day and age, end credits usually run about 7 minutes. Some times, you can get some that run 10 minutes but 7 seems to be the norm.

The runtime announced for theaters in New Zealand is 145 minutes, versus the 135 minutes (2hr 15min) Whedon mentioned. Seven mintutes for credits, three or so for the after-credits scene, and there you have it.

Pretty much.

If they would have used it the artist would have seen a boost in sales for that song. You would think that the artist would be clamoring to get there music featured in a popular blockbuster. Kind of like how car manufactures love having there cars featured in movies because it boost interest in the product.

I really do hope that an extended cut of The Avengers is released on Blu-Ray/DVD. No need to call it a Director's Cut, just Extended. Thinking about starting a petition about it...

I don't mind as long as the scenes are on the blu-ray in some form.

2hr 15min is good by me, anything lower would've been disappointing. Can't wait to see all the cut footage on Blu-Ray.
