Whedon himself revealed the actual OFFICIAL running time, and according to the article, he isn't interested in making any director's cuts as of now.

I for one, am very happy with the running time.

(SORRY IF OLD)

Joss Whedon said:
I think people get to see a lot of extraordinary extras because I did shoot a bunch of stuff that I love, but the movie is the movie I want it to be.”

He might no be putting out a Directors cut, but from the sounds of it he's still gonna put at least the majority of them on as deleted scenes on the blu-ray, so count me happy. :woot: I also hope there's alot of behind the scenes featurettes too.

Also do you guys think they'll release like a special collectors box of all 6 movies + the Avengers?

Maybe but I've never known how that would work, considering Universal produced the TIH DVD/BRD while Paramount produced the others

but guys, one other thing regarding the aliens..someone else has already suggested these guys

avengers-alpha-centaurians.jpg

Alpha Centaurians? Notice the ears, the color we have seen, and the webbed feet

Do they *look* like Alpha Centaurians? Yes.

Do Alpha Centaurians make sense in the context of the movie? Not even remotely close. An obscure throwaway one-shot race that appeared in ONE issue of Sub-Mariner back in the 60s as an undersea alien race for Namor to beat up on? How does that tie in with The Avengers and Loki conquering the world?

And does Marvel Studios go to great pains to make sure their characters, both hero and villain, look exactly like they do in the comics? (Goes back and re-reads years' worth of b*itching about costumes in these forums:.....).....Uh, that would be "no."

The amount of people that would have seen a screening by now, I am amazed a name of the aliens hasn't leaked.... so much so I am willing to bet that they are not named on screen at all.

And I am willing to bet that you'd win your bet easily.

Yeah, I've always felt that they won't be named in the movie, and that they'll use a name from the comics for the toys.

Now, we know Hemsworth is tall, probably around 6'4, he seems taller than 6'3. But, Loki, Tom Hiddleston, did anyone have any idea that Tom was this tall???

I mean, I noticed in the set pics he seems to tower over some of the avengers, but damn.
I think the thing is that in Thor, he wasn't around that many people - it was usually Hemsworth, or else he was sitting down (on the throne, on the stairs, next to Odin's bed, etc...), or there was something else altering perception - his confrontation with Odin, Odin is above Loki on the stairs - so you really don't realize how tall he was.

I had no idea, myself, not until those Avengers set photo's leaked and both him and Hemsworth are just towering over everyone else I was like :wow:

The army in this film is Thanos's army. Thanos's army wouldn't have a name (as far as I know).

To be fair, we haven't had much of anything leak from the screenings, so not hearing the aliens' names shouldn't be that much of a surprise. Marvel is keeping things under wraps pretty well.

I think we'll definitely get some mention of their name in the movie, if only by telling us where they're from. Whedon is too good of a storyteller to simply have a no-name army in the film.

hehe Thor's hammer versus Loki's Screw drivers?
in THAT pic it looks like the serpent's spines are standard Screw drivers.
One of its spikes? The whole ridge of metal spines is visible on the side of the image nearest Thor. I count at least six (6), including two very near Thor's head and one behind his left hand.

I might have to take a final on that day! NOOOOOOOOOOO!

If not though and friends are willing, I'm so there haha.

2 hours and 15 minutes isnt too bad. I wouldve liked 15 more minutes, but if Joss thinks its the way to go, I'm down with it.

I guess the runtime's ok. As long as the story doesn't seem to go by too quickly I'm fine with it.

Wait, what? 2 hours 15 Minutes? Nice. Hope there's a good chunk of character interaction and not overly long action pieces. Have it just long enough to keep me interested. Would be a shame if this goes down like Transformers, where I eventually start to get bored.

So do I.

But although they won't be named, they will still be based on a race from the comics.

On the other hand... let's suppose for a moment that they will be named on the screen. If I were the director and I wanted the identy of the aliens remain a secret until the movie's premier, then I simply wouldn't include the one scene where the name is said in the pre-screening.

We always have to keep in mind that the people who saw the pre-screening didn't see the final version of the film. So even if there was no name for the aliens, no post-credit scene and no cameo from another superhero in the pre-screening, that doesn't mean that there won't be such a thing in the movie.

2 Hours and 15 minutes seems to be goldilocks. I'm happy with it.

My problem with TF 2 and 3 wasn't that they were too long... it's that i didn't care about the characters involved, therefore no tension, and the plots made about as much sense as a... I don't really know, that's how crap it was.

If they had cool, understandable plots and featured characters who i could root for to go with the spectacular action, i could watch it for 5 hours.

I agree, the only thing that I found disappointing about A:EMH is how simple and bland the battles were.

Hopefully season two does a much better job in that department, because I sure would like for some in-depth JLU type fights to go along with great characterisation.
:dry:simple and bland? WHA? I don't see how. I thought they were deep and well-choreographed, and really worked to show why the team is at their best when they fight as one

If it's just character interaction with great dialogue, I could watch a Movie for 5 hours too. First Class was a movie, where I would have been ok, just watching Charles and Erik talk for half an hour while playing chess. But any movie, regardless of how good it is, if the action is just too long, I get bored. Especially when it's nothing but explosions. After some time I just go numb.
