So I hear we're getting a 2:15 run time? Kind of surprised but very glad. I thought we'd get somewhere between 1:45 and 2 hours.

I'm watching Hancock for the first time in along time and it's making me wonder, why does Marvel skimp out on giving their characters awesome feats of strength.

I understand that superheroes can't be as powerful as they are in the comics, it just would be nice to see heroes do things that make you go "ohhh sh**" every once and awhile.

They played the latest trailer a few minutes ago on Adult Swim. :wow:

Are you suggesting more superheroes need to throw obnoxious French children into orbit?

And just think, that's probably without credits, too! The final official runtime may end up being more like 2:25+.

Hahahahahahaha :lmao:

Nah there would be a HUGE uproar if that happens, I was just talking about things on the level of Hancock stopping that train with ease & lifting cars like they were paper weights.

New Black Widow image in there?

And Maria Hill too.

what site is this?

Isn't that Black Widow pic the same one from the set of "A" posters?

Yep, that's the same picture where people were complaining about all of the Black Widow ass shots.

Heh, Hancock always made me giggle about LA superheroes--once they get their act together, they seem to move to NYC, at least in the movies.

From the previews, I don't see Marvel skimping on the physical strength aspect, especially of Hulk this time around.

@Xeno

Um Carney didn't have the strongest support base in LA so I don't know where you're getting that info from. That's the main reason she was thrown out and pinned as scapegoat early on regardless of her other well executed marketing campaigns.

Reading that Vulture article, it is immediately clear that the "insiders" who gave quotes were, in the main, harshly critical of Stanton and/or supportive of Carney. Although Carney was a novice in Hollywood, some people there either take her side in the matter or, at the very least, are lining up against Stanton in the rush to spin Carter's failure. The fact that Carney was an outsider at Disney does not mean that she has no friends or allies willing to put forward a view of events that sheds a more favorable light on her involvement with the Carter campaign.

According to that article, yes, that's all there is to it. But I feel like no one is taking into account* that that article is ONE SIDE of the story. The people giving the Vulture their story are all "Disney marketing insiders," aka, the very people who are currently being blamed for the JC debacle. Of course they would throw the blame elsewhere.

I'm not saying it's untrue - I'm sure a lot of it is very true. It seems clear that Stanton's inexperience in this arena was a major detriment to the campaign. But MT Carney was basically as new to promoting live-action Hollywood blockbusters as Andrew Stanton was to making them. I'm just saying if you get Stanton, Cook, and Rich Ross's side of things, the truth would probably be somewhere in between the two stories.

*EDIT: ok, apparently some people are taking it into account, lol.

Indeed we are. Though we'll never get a true picture of what happened because spin from all sides obscures it.

The runtime given for New Zealand theaters is 145 minutes, which is 2 hours 25 minutes. Joss's time, I understand, was for his cut, not including the titles, end credits and trademark after-credit scene.

They also played it during the last break of The Daily Show.
The "Tickets available now" tagline at the end seriously made me giddy.

It just kind of cements how close this is to actually coming out. Feels like a surreal dream almost.

I bought tickets last week... $55 for 2 tickets in Australia. Outrageous.

Lol, that was my favorite part too. It got me so hyped I immediately went to Fandango to look, despite having no intention to buy them yet (as my plans w/ friends have yet to be cemented so I don't even know what theater we'll be going to yet). Just seeing that some theaters near me already had them available was a joyous nerd moment. :woot:

Exactly, which means people will likely be getting the (almost) 2.5-hour movie they were hoping for after all.

Most of us will sit though the credits. When i went to see Captain America only 4 people left the theater. Everyone else sat in there there until the credits were finished. This was a full theater. People are just conditioned to to wait till the end of a Marvel movie for any special ending.

When I saw Thor myself and my wife were the only ones that stayed! The lights went up and they were cleaning all around us haha.

Pretty much. :wow::up:

Thats crazy, I watched Hancock last night for the first time in ages as well after re-buying on BD and I thought exactly the same. That train was HUGE and Hancock stopped it dead. Also thought the fight between Hancock and Mary had a lot more destruction in it than any Marvel movie fight.

The fight at the end of Matrix Revolutions and the fight between Hancock and Mary are the pinnacle of superhero fight scenes. For heroes with flight, strength, speed etc.

Yeah even though the Hancock vs Mary fight was more of a "skirmish" it still causes a huge amount of destrucion and the fight at the end of Matrix Revolutions was amazing.

The way Hancock stopped that train without being fazed was mind blowing, the whole movie was sprinkled with cool little feats of strength that are missing from Marvel Studios films. That's the kind of power I want to see displayed by Thor and Hulk (plus IM to a lesser extent) throughout the the film, especially during the climax.

Anyone in the UK or London know of Marvel Marathons and midnight showings?
