His humanity- Donald Blake
There is also getting smacked around by something bigger and mental manipulation. Weakness to magic is iffy, depends on the writer and the story.

On A:EMH she didn't seem to have a problem controlling him with hallucinations. I don't profess to be a Thor scholar, but if he's not weak to magic what IS his weakness?
improbable since Red Skulls base of operation was in Austria, not in Germany

Yeah and maybe Odin will sprinkle fairy dust on Thor to get him to Earth, Jane Foster realizes she's in love with Betty Ross and Winter Soldier will show up with rocket hands to save the day. Let's keep talking about other stuff that doesn't matter![]()
it never ocurred to me that the blue gem in Loki's staff was the mind gem of the infinity gauntlet. It makes much sense and ties everything together between people kneeling, [BLACKOUT]"his newfound powers" and Thanos cameo[/BLACKOUT]. The only thing left is how did he get it?
So with this we may knowLoki has mind controling powers and is after the pluTONYum in Stark Tower so he can use the cube to open the portal for his army and that is why is directly above the tower.
am I right?
No. It's not the mind gem.

I had resolutely avoided reading the storybook pages until now, even though I saved all of them. The information revealed does support the theory that Loki eitherfound the Mind Gem in Stuttgart or some other artifact that allowed him to control the minds of the people there.
Many of us had speculated that the blue gem in Loki's staff was the Mind Gem months ago, when the set photos of Hiddleston in costume with the staff first surfaced online. With the official storybook asserting that Loki's ability to influence the minds of others was new and first manifested in Germany, the speculation the he acquired the Mind Gem there gains a bit more credence. It could well be that the Infinity Gauntlet and/or the Gems were somehow dispersed on Earth and Loki came to claim them. Maybe he's bargaining with the "larger threat" Whedon said will be teased at the end of the film (presumably Thanos) using the Gems and Gauntlet as a lure. That's what a lot of fans have speculated and it makes sense, if that's how Marvel chose to progress.
The argument that the Mind Gem is so powerful that Loki could bend everyone on Earth and the universe to his will has two snags. First, the Mind Gem can do that only when backed and amplified by the red Power Gem. If Loki doesn't have the Power Gem then he can't use the Mind Gem so expansively. Second, in the film universe the Mind Gem's power may not be the same as in the comics version. It could well be weaker or different.
Even though the Infinity Gauntlet was glimpsed in Odin's vault in Thor, it's entirely possible that Loki somehow hid it and the Gems on Earth before he was deposed. He certainly took the Casket of Ancient Winters from the Vault, so removing the Gauntlet isn't out of the question. Anticipating the possibility of defeat and planning for that contingency is very much like the God of Mischief.
Is any of the above going to turn out to be true? We'll know when the movie premieres. But it's fun to speculate about the possibilities.
By the way, only in Marvel stories the name of Loki's father is Laufey.
In Norse mythology, howevery, Laufey is the name of Loki's mother. And Loki's father is a giant named Farbauti.
I think in their early years the marvel authors mistook Laufey for a male name and never corrected it once that name was established for Loki's father.

Go watch Hugo Cabret.
I hate 3D with a passion and find it incredible unnecessary, but Hugo was the first movie that showed how 3D can add to the movie rather than distract.
Not trying to start a fight here or anything, but you're being awfully prickly lately about what people post. It's a speculation thread. If people want to make up theories, it shouldn't be any skin off your back.
Probably because I've spent the past two weeks here for several hours a day and it's annoying to see the same repetitive speculation brought up over and over again like it's a "new" thing. It's monotonous and ends up taking conversation backwards instead of moving forward.
I know I'm not the only one who has spoken out about it. Also I'll say again that I really think it would behoove a every News/Speculation thread to have a top post that lists all the definitive facts and rumors that have both been confirmed and debunked. That way the speculation evolves forward logically instead of going in circles while newer people catch up.
I wouldn't want to watch that movie in 2-D, let alone 3-D.
