Well I'm still sticking to what I said before lol Whatever is in Stark's chest obviously has the ability to absorb massive amounts of energy as well as produce energy, and since I just went through MU looking for elements that can absorb energy and only found one before I gave up I'm calling it a synthetic vibranium. Starkanium, plaTONYum...lol ok I quit. :)

When does it absorb energy? I know it gives off a good amount, hence being able to power the suit

Nope. [BLACKOUT]That's still up in the air at this point. It's why they cut the spotlight scene from Thor (which really ticked off the guys who spend four months creating it haha)[/BLACKOUT]

[BLACKOUT]spotlight scene? clarify please. [/BLACKOUT]

the original suit tin can one needed powering up.

Storybook..

Thor strikes Iron Man with lightning, his suit absorbs it and is suddenly powered up by 400%

well that's something to ponder.

The thing about Thanos is, while comic fans are dying to see him on screen, it's still a huge risk for general audiences. Kang too. Plans are definitely being put together to hopefully realize those characters on the big screen but it doesn't look like MS is going to go out on a limb and rick it all on their public appeal just yet. I'm pretty sure that the future of the Cosmic MCU is resting squarely on the shoulders of The Avengers movie reception.

[blackout] they would have paid attention to the prop in the treasure room with the camera and cutting of the scene. [/blackout]

From what I understand the arc reactor isn't a perpetual motion machine. It needs an exterior source to fuel it (i.e. Palladium). That, by definition, is energy absorption.

Wait there's a list of items in that room from the comics online, Ive given it a read a couple of times. Poni, can ya say if it was one of those?

okay i think i get what you're alluding to. the aliens want [blackout]vibranium[/blackout]

Okay, I wasnt thinking of conductivity as energy absorbtion (which it basically is isnt it?)

The palladium wasn't fuel for it, in my take. It was just a catalyst that couldn't tolerate the conditions inside the reactor without wearing out. Whereas vibranium, being seemingly indestructible and capable of absorbing energy. . .

Honestly the idea just came to me thanks to all the input from you folks. But it kind of makes sense considering what we know/will be released. I doubt Loki wold promise them a power source that he himself is after. And that explains the focus on Stark Tower.

I don't know how the Palladium can't be considered fuel. Wasn't the whole subplot of IM2 that Tony needed a more stabilized fuel source that wouldn't poison him?

palladium was called the core. so much like the core of a battery it isn't the most important part.

but they could be confident enough in the avengers now that [blackout] the infinity gauntlet [/blackout] could be the macguffin.

Yeh so, if vibranium can absorb and discharge, (is discharge the proper word?) massive amounts of energy then it has infinite possible uses, and would be coveted. Loki goes after Tony for a reason right? Perhaps Tony discovered how exactly this could work without knowing it until....struck by lightning. lol

you could say radiate. discharge is more used in medicine.

It very well could be, but if we want to get technical you can't feature [BLACKOUT]The Infinity Gauntlet without featuring Thanos because the gems are already collected and in place. If the gems were all separate I can see a build up to Thanos creating the Gauntlet, but it has already been constructed. My guess would be that he and Odin duked it out.[/BLACKOUT]
