The Avengers The Avengers Post Screening Review & Discussion Thread (SPOILER FILLED) - Part 2

Seriously, I meant that as a compliment. It's one thing for a few people to say it but when it's universal like this, that means there's something really there.

I think The Avengers will be more critically acclaimed than TDKR because of Batman's 'end'. It's already split down the middle in the Batboards. Traditional fans are not going enjoy the bittersweet ending, that much is certain.

Don't worry. I'm sure TDKR will reclaim that crown :cwink:

It hurts me to say this as an even bigger batman fan (I attended TDK advanced screening at the time
also :P ) but as much as I'm looking forward to that movie. I don't see it beating this one. Things change we'll see.

For those who have seen it, was there an extra scene after the other after credits scene?

Poni_Boy just tweeted TA is "the greatest superhero movie I've ever seen. It's jaw dropping and awe inspiring"

The minute Joss was announced, there was only one possible outcome. Seriously have people read his Astonishing?

This is why fans were sad when WB dropped his wonderwoman.

Don't be so sure. Things can be critically acclaimed despite the ending. Look at ME3. :)

Nonetheless, my excitement for both films has reached very unhealthy levels.

I was just being sarcastic because I thought J. Howlett was being sarcastic. I'm sure TDKR will have its share of acclaim, but the WOM so far for The Avengers......wow. I expected words like "mindless, popcorn fun", but nothing at this level this universal. Hopefully the "mainstream" critics see it the same way.

The final trailer has to bring it's A game because this summer is stacked with competition and The Avengers looks extremely promising.

Nolan and WB have done a great job at keeping everything a mystery. We'll see on May 4th (most likely) or May 11th what we're in store for.

If The Avengers is this big of a hit with professional critics, this will be another watershed moment in comic book film history, because this would be a much more traditional comic book film getting this type of hype. Nolan's films aren't the norm for these types of films(not saying that as a bad thing, TDK is my favorite film).

Haha, I can pretty much say the same thing. I'm going crazy, and I'm sooo jealous at those who already saw The Avengers. :yay: Anyway, I'm just glad that a lot of people seem to like the film. Hopefully this is a start of a great summer movie season.

How much screentime does The Leviathan get and does it get another name besides "The Leviathan"?

True.

Guess we'll have to wait and see. Hopefully it'll end the fan talk of Nolan being more excited for MoS than TDKR.

TDK is a hard act to follow. TDKR will be a great movie but will suffer from letdown sydrome for not topping TDK IMO. I think it will be a fantastic movie in its own right though. I love how Bane is shaping up as a character from what we know. Enough of that though.....

DEAR LORD the wait for Avengers is killing me !!!! :fst:

All the praise is making it worse.

IM2, SM3, and X3 all followed a previous movie that was pretty much near-perfect, and so all of their flaws were magnified since the audience could see the contrast between them and their predecessors. X3 deserves all the hate because it was truly a poorly-made movie, and director Ratner mishandled it. Between IM2 and SM3, I think IM2 is better, because at least it wasn't cluttered with excessive villains, and Stark didn't go emo like Parker did.

So IM2 >>> SM3 >>>>>>>>>>> X3

EXCELLENT assessment!!! Well done sir!

Just checking in. Will post full thoughts later

But holy **** holy **** holy **** holy **** holy ****

Incredible. Breathtaking. Stupendous. Magnificent.

Wowowowowowoowowow

Throughout the last fight sequence. Don't want to say too much. Don't remember what it was called if it was called something at all.

Definitely. The Avengers will have more comic book elements and geek-out moments. TDKR, on the other hand, operates in a different realm ('epic ending to an epic story' -- Oldman).

It's definitely already topped TDK.

But back on topic!

They aren't called anything. They're just there.

So... it seems the people who saw it today liked the movie then, eh?

/understatement

Yeah, wasn't there a spoiler where it was said that this monster is not from the comics?
